"Saturday 2 pm Live Wellington Phoenix Reserves vs. WaiBOP from Eden Park

Sky Sport 4"

Curtain-raiser to the A-League game.

Guess they are piggy-backing on the TV production gear being there for the A-League game.

ah that changes things from what others have said too.

I was of the impression that they couldn't win (or even compete in) the ASBP final. Which I thought was stupid.

But those regs suggest they can win it, but won't qualify for OFC qualifying as a result. Which makes sense.

Seen the play a few times this year, this is by far the worst they've been.  Can;t do anything going forward.  Surprised that Doyle is playing in midfield while they have Blake at left-back.  Not sure what is going on there.

Maybe they're seeing how Doyle plays as a mid with a view to using him there for the first team if they need to?

Doyle has been rubbish. JBS been okay. Ridenton done nothing, been ambushed at every opportunity.

Dimario, Blake and Bell have impressed me.

Dimario especially, everytime I've seen him he's always looked really solid and composed. Speed too, looks to be a really good prospect.

Get the feeling if we could just sneak a goal, we could easily pick up another quickly.

WaiBop have impressed me. Faster to the ball, seem more up for it. Don't know how they're bottom.

From Regulation 10, 2014-15.....

21.19 Notwithstanding anything to the contrary:

21.19.1 Neither the National U-20 Selection nor the Wellington Phoenix is eligible to be a New Zealand entry in the OFC Qualifying Competition of the FIFA Club World Cup;

21.19.2 Should the National U-20 Selection or the Wellington Phoenix finish in a place in the Championship and/or the League such that it would have qualified for the OFC Qualifying Competition of the FIFA Club World Cup if it were not for this Clause 21, the entries will be as follows;

a Should the National U-20 Selection or the Wellington Phoenix win the Championship Final, the highest ranked entry shall be the losing finalist from the Championship Final, unless the losing finalist from the Championship Final is the National U-20 Selection or the Wellington Phoenix, in which case the highest placed Participant in the League will determine the highest ranked entry; and/or

b Should the National U-20 Selection or the Wellington Phoenix win the League, the second ranked entry shall be the next highest placed Participant in the League; and/or

c Should the losing finalist from the Championship Final and the next highest placed Participant in the League be the same Participant, then the second ranked entry shall be the next highest placed Participant in the League; and

21.19.3 NZF in its absolute discretion retains the right to interpret and decide the effect of this Clause 21 and determine the qualifier(s) for any OFC Qualifying Competition of the FIFA Club World Cup;

LOL at 21.19.3 - NZF in its absolute discretion can do whatever it likes. What's the point of having any rules!

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Tam is a good player I agree but he was poor on the ball today. Gave away more than he kept.

I like Blake.

Gulley was good too.

Bell I don't actually remember touching the ball.

Thought Blake and JBS were the wee nix standouts. Waibop so dominant. Their 21 yo GK Danyon drake only had one shot to save but I liked what I saw of him; very aware, good anticipation and distribution.

Caught bits of this game in between falling asleep on the couch.

Phoenix were dire for most part, exemplified by them being 2-0 down and with two free kicks around the box, they managed to pass back to the keeper rather than have an attack. Unadventurous rubbish, they deserved to lose and no-one will go and watch crap like that.

Blake looked ok.

Known in Wellington as the 'North Wellington clause'

I guess it's a lazy way to cover themselves for some unexpected circumstance. But you're right, it's a joke and reads as 'NZF has the right to ignore the above rules' - which is very open to abuse and defeats the purpose of having them in the first place.

Lost 2-0 to Canty. Both teams were pretty rubbish. Nix played the more positive footy. Canty scored from a corner and from some route one build up.

For me the Nix seemed to really be lacking a go to man up front. Had few good build ups but no one to finish.

Nix stands out were Hicksy and Rufer. Stevens had a good 2nd half. Everyone else was pretty unnoticeable.

With the A-League break, will we give a few players a run with the reserves in January?

Just bumping this in anticipation for the Sat 17 Jan game vs TW at Dave Farrington (2 pm KO).

This counts as a home game for WeeNix so free entry for season pass holders?

Listed as a home game for WeeNix on the ASBP site, even tho DF is TW's home ground and Newtown is WeeNix's.

Wonder how many will turn up because there is no A-League action to watch (this will be the case for us)?  Would be great if Dave Farrington was maxed out - imagine a Wgtn-based Oz club boosting walk up crowds for a domestic game!!
