Whats one of the most biggest companies in NZ... get them on board that everyone knows... they could get mcdonalds but then people would have a moan about them being unhealthy, what about subway????? not as a big sponsor maybe a minor one...

On that note, just wondering if Burger King is stil involved in Basketball sponsorship? I remember them sponsoring either the NBL team or Tall Blacks when they really needed it, perfectly timed as it turned out with the Tall Blacks success in the Worlds that year. Maybe Terry has some contacts through the Saints as I think there's another opportunity  for them to ride on the potential success of the Phoenix this season ( that's my glass half-full side showing! ) RedGed2009-04-30 16:40:01

Improving,,on the up, a work in progress from Italiano and the Nix. Bring on the bathroom bling in '24! COYN!

Would we need alternate jerseys saying "Hungry Jacks" for the away games? :P

Being serious for a moment, what are the Odds the club comes out with a sponsorship from a company we would have never suspected?? Someone like ASB (Only used as an example, not any knowledge of)

Clash with stadium sponsor.

Also, to mirror an earlier post, "would we need Commonwealth Bank sponsored away kits?"

....I'd nominate JB HI-FI. New-ish to Wellington, so some more exposure wouldn't hurt. The company is expanding throughout the country (Wellington is the first of a few stores to be built outside Auckland) so it would be good for fans in Christchurch etc. They already exist in Auckland so it'd be good for our fan up there.   They're an Australian company so it's trans-tasman exposure, whereas an NZ-only company could only be effective on one side of the ditch. And hey - the colours are already there!....
[Quote]
Been thinking about your earlier suggestion, Robb a good idea that one.
Interesting, JB HI-FI's new Wellington City Shop is down below on the foodhall plaza level of BNZ Centre 1 Willis st...  directly underneath
the Sony Shop!
they'd be a great addition to the retailers who support the Yellow Fever Card too hint, hint.

my memory fails me but I think it may have been Dorchester Town FC used to do a raffle for sponsorship with business each putting a significant amount of money in the pot. The winner obviously recieving the shirt sponsor. Just putting it out there as another idea

Current F1 sponsors (so they've got to have some dosh)
DHL
Red Bull (known to sponsor sport)
Diageo (using the Johnny Walker brand)
Siemens
ING
Shell
Panasonic

Not an F1 sponsor, but nearly were:
BWin (online betting outfit, so they may be a no go)

Tech companies:
Microsoft
Oracle (just bought Sun and they are sponsoring Microsoft TechEd North America which isn't a sponsorship deal you'd normally think of)
Google (keen to up their profile in NZ)
eBay

NZ companies:
Lion Nathan (via a brand they are trying to promote in AUS)
TradeMe
AMI
ASB

Also, I'd worry less about reaching the NZ game attendees and the 4 milliion viewers. I would target companies looking at getting into Australia and their 20million viewer market. TV advertising and lots of lovely airtime is what the sponsors are after first of all.

Just wondering on, the clash of sponsors. Is that actually a deal?

Withe Warriors being sponserd by 'Vodafone' and playing in the 'Telstra' Premiership. wouldn't that be a clash of sponsors?

All Aboard the Phoenix/ All Whites Bandwagon!!

Yes, it is most definitely a deal. Clubs have had to abandon some sponsorship offers for this reason.

It's far more regulated than the NRL.

Lotto tonight lads, I might be able to do a two year deal for the club if I was the sole winner of powerball. Feverish gets to sit up in the sponship box for suggesting it, although I fear he was thinking of LG electronics.

Google would be an interesting sponsor.

Google would be quite good. I wonder how the process works? Do we approach the majority asking for sponsorship or do you think people will put their hand up and ask?

May have been posted before...

InterIslander is not renewed the sponsorship...

Loss of smeltz and moss were quoted reasons, there was also an increase asked by the Nix.

Instead they are putting there logo on the shorts of the Lions.. Part-time supporters..

What about one of Fonterra's milk product brands. They're in Australia, and are one of the largest companies here?

nah, aparently they've felt the economic slump. they wouldnt even sponser my club for chatham cup. and were talking like 300-600 dollars.

although the phoenix would have a much wider audience, but then again they'd have to pay atleast 3m

Won't happen. Qantas are an A-League sponsor so would conflict.

You know it wouldn't surprise me if the Nix already have a new sponsor signed up and they're just waiting till closer to the season or maybe until the Sony deal officially ends before they announce it.

I suppose they could add Mossy and Smeltz to their next ad?

Talking of Airlines in Paul Raddisichs early day of driving single seater race cars. He is reported to have gone to air New Zealand and offered to put thier stickers on his race cars if he could have free flights to international driver tests. They agreed and at one test he was pip for a drive by Nigel Mansell - yes that how close he was to F1 racing.

Phoenix youth team sponsored by Air New Zealand who would provide free flights.
Thae cost of youth team made affordable.

How about this one?

Regarding airlines, Air NZ would be prevented by Qantas' deal with the FFA. Jetstar would work being Qantas owned however.
