Even with other deals on the horizon, I predict there are still stormy seas ahead. Better batten down the hatches.

All Aboard the Phoenix/ All Whites Bandwagon!!
Seriously now, I think the Phoenix are doing all the right things at the moment
They've secured Greenacre up front,
they've secured Crowther to compete with Paston in goal,
and rather than a knee-jerk signing of either of Corrales or Krishna, they are sensibly holding off to assess the two Euro strikers, heading over from this week, according to Tony P.
All signs of a management who are working to a plan and not to any perceived pressure to be seen to be doing "stuff".
We know sponsorship is important to assist and maintain the financial viability of the club.
If they start the season without sponsors on sleeve and shirt I'd be surprised, but not too concerned. The first season began without main sponsorship but once sponsors saw the enthusiasm of supporters and surprisingly good results from a novice team they were soon on board.
As long as the team is competitive (and the Phoenix management seems to be focussed on that objective)
and our support is solid and unwavering the sponsors will come.

I believe I read somewhere that we were waiting for a response
from a big company regarding sponsorship.

I feel stupid Tory, I can't see the pun..
..Er I'm probably completely wrong but, um ..reading between the lines, Oska
maybe Torne was having a subtle dig at departing sponsors?

Ju' sleeve it to Tony.
XT Network FTW

A dog with a bone :)
Optus doesn't operate in NZ, and Telecom doesn't operate in Australia, that may not necessarily be an issue. Thus, Optus may allow it.

That being said I don't see it happening either. Maybe as a sleeve sponsor, but as you said a trans-Tasman company would stand more to gain.
other companies that might work,
The Warehouse (they need advertising in oz)
Supercheap Auto
Repco
Healtheries
The Body Shop
Kiwi Bank would be cool but unlikely to happen...
theres plenty out there I'm sure they'll find a decent sponsor before the start of the season.

Interesting possibilty this, if Telecom NZ did become a new major sponsor for the Phoenix, providing Optus say its okay.
As you guys have pointed out Optus and Telecom NZ brands are unknown in each others markets so no perceived clash to most of the public (though Telecom NZ do own AAPT, a telco that competes with Optus in Aussie)
What would be the value to Telecom if they were on board? Could be strategic positioning.
Telecom NZ have recently tranformed their business.
With their new look business they have publicly said they want to be number 1 in mobile, broadband and telecommunications.
This might be a good way to raise Telecom NZs "new" profile in NZ plus some presence on a larger world stage-(a hell of a lot cheaper than equivalent Rugby sponsorship i'd say and also doubt that America's cup will do it for them for some time to come!)
By positioning with the Phoenix..the All Whites too?...they could benefit from football's exposure in the SA World Cup next year.

The Ruf, The Ruf, The Ruf is on Fire!!
I was going to suggest the Phoenix get a slice of the local action with AON, just like Manure...
but A-league Sponsors Zurich would no doubt veto THAT idea!!

How does the FFA think clubs are supposed to find decent sponsorship deals if they snag all the big ones themselves and forbid any club getting a competitor as a sponser.
I mean, Coffee Club? Bing Lee ?... Real quality brand names those. But agreed, some big companies have monopolies on businesses of a certain nature which then acts to the detriment of clubs. That doesn't help the game expand having to wrangle it's way through that legal/political minefield.

We need a quality company to sponsor our team.

We need a quality company to sponsor our team.

Official strip being released soon at a special members meeting in the new phoenix store. As seen in the "In The Nix" Newsletter .
I take it that means we either have a sponsor, are very close with one, or have none at all.
