Marcina would be fantastic, great player and exactly what we need to compliment Smeltz

Was overseas for the Knights seasons....is there any You tube clips of him playing?(Marcina)

Also whats the Porter latest? Any rumours? I guess all we know is that no one has said he's NOT coming....mind you no one said he IS!!!!!   totally bizzare.....

Looks like that  signing of a striker that was to be announced this week  is not now happening. My guess it was to be McBreen but he didn't turn out to be what they wanted.

Unfortunatly i think Marcina signed a 3 year deal with the thunder in January (this year) so he probably is going to be moving down under.

Tony was on Newstalk ZB this afternoon.

Link to audio clip is; https://www.newstalkzb.co.nz/weekondemandWN.asp Interview is in Sat May 31 17.00 clip. Interview starts at 9.18 on clip, transfer talk starts at 12.38.

Tony mentioned that he expects to have another top striker signed in the next 2 to 3 weeks. Still chipping away on Porter but Hartlepool have told Porter they'll see him next season so, unless Hartlepool have a miraculous change of heart, Porter's not coming - this season anyway.

Tony also said we are keeping one spot open until after the season starts in case we need a midfielder or wing back - translation, we'll start off with Lia at right back and see how he goes.

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

Well at that clears things up somewhat.....no Porter,no McBreen and another striker signed in mid/late June. I reckon Porter will be Covenys replacement next year.

No, gave no indication where the striker was expected to come from.

In an earlier interview WB, pretty sure he mentioned an A-League striker.

You're right - he did.

Thought you meant in last night's interview in which he gave no indication of where the striker might come from. Maybe we might learn a little more in the Nix slot in tonight's Total Football Show.

All cut from other A-League sides... can't see them being good enough for us if no one else wants them.

If it's an A-League player it would be someone wanted by other sides you would think.

During the England game this morning Shaka Hislop mentioned Dwight Yorke was contemplating his future after being released by Sunderland and hinted at a return to the A-league?!

That was spoken about months ago... Bling said no, then the Nutgrabbers old boss said no, and I think he may be up to the Mariners now as he gradually gets further away from the Bling that he so desperately craves

But he's only 36!

He would probably be here if the Gold Coast were admitted for this coming season imo. That would suit him to a tee.

btw how about David Williams? A pacey striker for the Aussie U23's.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Williams_%28footballer%29

Is currently at Brondby in Denmark. His contract is apparently up for renewal and while the fan opinion is that he should be starting the coach doesn't seem keen. He might be keen to come back to the A-League for the year. Who knows.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=I08s54GjyXA

He'd be a better pickup than a crocked Joel Porter that is for sure.

Does Dwight still have it at 36? id be concerned

yeah nice call on david williams , i remember the commentators used to hype him up to be the next best thing for australian football when he played a couple of games for the roar.

i think we'd have to offer him lots to coax him from a fairly strong european club though, and plus hes still so young.

theres more of him on youtube if you want to see what hes capable of!

he would be one of the top holding midfielders in the league, but thats not what we need at the moment, and not worth the money

no hes not a striker anymore, thats why he moved, still reads the game, good touch all that jazz, legs slowly going with age, so he's in the perfect position for, i would love to see him in a nix shirt, but he aint what we need right now

Quit asking for hints!

Tony will tell us when it's all confirmed, there's no point mentioning definite names before a deal is done.

Does anybody know if the greek league is of high quality? a player called Ricardo Costa has been released by a club called Veria in the greek league.
