With respect to all three, they hardly light up the NZFC scoring charts (and I'm a pretty big fan of Urlo's work).

True - just wondering if McBreen will be any better than either of those 3

I'm still not convinced we're even likely to sign McBreen.  I mean, we had a VPL player here last week (name escapes me, Michael someone Jr.) and Roy Krishna the week before and they looked better but it didn't look at all like we were signing them.

Until I hear otherwise I'm writing it off as a trial like plenty of other players we see.

Tell you who I might add to that list and suggest is more deserving - Allan Pearce.

Not a bad call at all and more like the type player who could compliment Smeltz

Benjamin Totori, or is he counted out as an import?
Permalink Permalink

Yeah he'd be an import as he plays for the Solomons at international level - he's also gone to the States to play in the USL1 for Gavin Wilkinson at the Portland Timbers

Agreed on Pearce, he was by far the best and most consistant performer in the NZFC.
He scores plenty of goals but he always struck me as more of a winger than a striker?

Import and Krishna > Totori.

I thought we couldn't sign Krishna this season due to his current contractual situation, but that he will be available for next year? Dangerous player either way, would love to see him in a Phoenix jersey.

No doubt about it

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

I'd agree with that.

All this spam is just going to lead to a hollow victory guys! No need to be impatient, we'll get there easily and I'm sure there are still some transfer related twists and turns still to come.

And what a Nazi salute he has on him too. Anyone remember the U-17 World Cup?

I speculate that we should sign Cristiano Ronaldo.

Pearce played as an out n out striker at the U-17 WC. I remeber him being pretty solidly built - obviously just looked that way compared to the rest - looks like he's been moved wider because of his lack physical presense

Whatever happened to the rumour being put around, by somebody or other on here a while back, that we were after the Greek fella who played for Bolton.

That was an interesting one

It would be absolutely brilliant to get Marcina wouldn't it?  And I believe he's playing for the Minnesotta Thunder, who, unless I am much mistaken, also have Andrew Barron playing for them.

Makes you wonder why he's still in that league really - thought he looked class for the Knights and if Totori is playing that level ....

NO Marcina.

Surely there must be an asian we could sign, Iran/Iraq arent the nicest places to live at the moment.

The rumoured announcement of a new striker signing this week  would appear to be not happening - maybe second thoughts about McBreen.

Must admit starting to get nervous again - still looking for 2 strikers and a wing back and it's June tomorrow.

I know, I know - have faith.

Noticed this in a news story:

"Alongside Coveny and a host of former and current internationals from Oceania and around the world will be prolific Auckland City FC striker Keryn Jordan, who boasts an impressive New Zealand record of his own.

Jordan a former South African international leads the NZFC scoring charts with 54 goals over 63 matches over four seasons."

He's probably not a youngster, but he scores goals. Anyone know if he's ever been considered as an option for the Nix?

Because he has a career outside football that keeps him in Auckland, he's attached to Auckland City FC, and currently he's battling some health challenges.

Rumour was the Knights wanted him but hiis wage demads were a little high.  Just rumour, no idea if it was true.

Someone from the club said to me they had no planned announcements this week (meaning the one just gone).

marcina would be good- at first i wasnt too impressed by him: got caught offside to much and fluffed some good chances but the facts are he scored 4 goals from eight games for the KNIGHTS,  He has great pace. how bad could he be?

marcina would be a great player to get we know what to expect of him then rather then hoping a player is good hes currently at minnesota one of the better usl clubs hes score 1 goal in 6 games. however i dont think it should be too  hard to coaz him over here as he seems to be a bit of a journeyman moving to and throw clubs. fingers crossed
