He is Australian born I think so I believe that he won't be an import....but I am prone to being incorrect

https://www.nzsoccer.com/page/glen_moss.html

Q: What would you do on a dream day off?

A: Surfing on the Gold Coast, Queensland.

Does he have an Aussie passport or something? Why would an aussie club want to waste an import spot on a goalkeeper?

IIRC, Aussie passport is irrelevant - import slots are for those who have represented other countries. Or should I say, domestic spots are only available for those eligible to represent Australia. Hence someone like Anthony Seric (born & raised in Australia, played for Croatia) would count as an import.

The whole "Moss being born and bred in Gold Coast (hence, Australia)" was a line from someone out of GCU  (Bleiberg?), who said the same of the German-born Smeltz

I was looking at writing my blog this week on that foreign player issue. Most places in the world it is whether they qualify as a citizen or a 'kolpak', but in the A-League it comes down to who you can play for, which is a little unfair on NZ'ers who don't need a work permit in Aussie. I can understand it's about strengthening Aussie players, though.

It gets blurry because the FFA make the decision on how a player stands for the Champions League.  They don't want teams having to aign a dozen new players because they are only allowed 3 imports for the ACL.

Yeah, it's an Asia-wide issue, really. Critical_Lemon2008-11-13 14:39:21

What does the lemon know?

the rumour seems to be McKain is the Marquee. there hasn't been any other names offered, so that one seems the most likely.

who is the rumoured 'big' signing? does that make it Joel Porter eventually getting a Wellie key to the city, or ... If it is a big signing it sure as heck won't be Brockie then. Promising lad, but.

Elliot for  a regular spot??? That won't be it if they are looking for strikers though. it could be Killen, but I guess he'd be mad to want out of Celtic if they keep paying him.

your best guesses?

Just heard a rumour the Nix might have signed Fred (ex Melbourne Victory) as a marquee. Could be bull but my man has been pretty good before

Well proves Terry piggy bank isn't completely empty as I had feared. Any other signings coming up people think?

Doubt it, Fred for 6 weeks would surely use any funds we could posibly have left. Squads fill as well now isn't it?

Well if the Marquee spot being fill is true then don't we still have a spot for a regular player under the cap?

We do, but I believe we don't have that much money under the cap to work with, so there's not much sense in signing someone who won't even make the bench and basically throw the money away.

Just to clarify, Fred was signed as a guest-player, not marquee.

Hate to be a Sydney Bling supporter.
Team cost more that Poshes gold plated silicones, trumpeted as a shoe-in for the title, a marquee that (for one reason or another) ain't doing it, 1 player retires and 3 leave, Kosmina throws a tanty and dropping points faster than Nicky Watson changes her men. I fancy slapping a tenner to their ass and going to down to a knock shop to see if the old adage is true.

Sad times to be a Sydney supporter and we think we have it tough....

That may be true but that's scant consolation.  Also Newcastle, champions to a rabble in a short space of time

Normo's coming home

The other Adriano will do just fine, however.

Hopefully the owner caves to pressure and changes the name.Seriously, i'm sure some potential Roar and Fury supporters are/will be too embarrassed to support the team.

At least they are better than some of MLS names ,I find Real Salt Lake the most cringe worthy name out there.
