Do you reckon he would ever come back to the Nix if they paid him enough?

Interesting that this hasn't come up too much before. I'm guessing that Terry must have his financiers banging at his door right now as most of those developer's don't get funding through the big 4 banks but rather rely on the second tier finance companies that have been going broke.

I wouldn't be surprised if Terry has askedTony to tighten the purse string at least for the next 6 months until things settle down..

maybe they're sitting on a beach in rio, kicking a ball and watching lots of babes in bikinis, wishing they had been in wellington for the winter.

On Joel Porter, that clip on you tube really makes me think about what might have been this season with another goal poacher....

Do you have any evidence of this or is it wild speculation?  If a lender goes bustthe rights of a borrower don't change, you owe a debt (which is an asset) to a lender, which will be sold (so long as the debt is performing).

What is more likely to be an issue is that the housing market has weakened, costs of funding have increased along with costs of construction.  But most of these development deals are sold off the plans anyway

I've updated my post which might make more sense now.  Lenders going bust is a different issue, but with the looming rate cuts I think everyone is going to be a bit happier, especially if deals are fully funded already

He ain't in Croatia. I asked some Hajduk fans on a Croatian forum if they'd like him back, and all of them (4) said thanks, but no thanks.

With the Hartlepool midfield.
Joel gets good service.
If he was playing for us this year he'd spend most of the time on the field saying to our midfield " What the F**k is that  s**t!!!! " and thinking to himself "O.m.g how many divisions have i dropped by coming here."

He ain't going to GOld Coast, might go to Adelaide but at the moment isn't making any decisions and is concentrating on the Phoenix.

No other genuine links to the Phoenix or away from the Phoenix.

Does Salley come off contract this year??

He would be a hell of a signing for our midfield and finally provided us with the dm we need.

We don't really need another ball winner in the centre of midfield. We need a good passer imo.Though he is definately better than Johnson..

He wont come to us, though. He's recently got Aussie citizenship.

Miron said they don't want to use an import stuff on an NZ player.

Salley likes Ricki, supposedly the only reason he ended up in Adelaide was because they needed an answer before Terry saved the concept of an NZ side, he'd been holding out for an NZ side to be confirmed.

Salley is an immense player. He was waiting to sign with a NZ team, but we took too long and he went to Adelaide. Last I heard his family lives in Melbourne.

If he does come off contract he'd be a fantastic signing for this football club.

Plus, he has God on his side

Maybe we should sign him as well?

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Nothing too insightful in the Waikato times view of Smeltz - as with any striker you pay your money and take your chances (his form will continue).

What I did think was interesting was the lesson learned by the NZ Breakers on the relative importance of nationality and results;

"They initially attempted to conquer the Australian National Basketball League with a side stacked full of Tall Blacks Pero Cameron, Phill Jones, Dillon Boucher, Paul Henare and Paora Winitana were expected to play starring roles in a successful side while generating Kiwi loyalty.

They quickly discovered it wasn't a fruitful recipe. Now Jones, Boucher and Henare play supporting roles to the likes of well-paid Australian stars CJ Bruton and Tony Ronaldson, US import Rick Rickert and a world-class Kiwi, Kirk Penney.

The Breakers are winning and the North Shore Events Centre is rocking each Thursday night.

Ultimately, the only thing that gets fans through the turnstiles is winning nationality be damned".

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

I agree the most important/interesting part of that article was the Breakers comparison. To me it is saying that you have to walk before you can run, get a successful side and then start worrying about the other effects

Same said for Warriors. Get your team based around experienced Aussies then get the Kiwis to support. Rocket science? I think not.
