Started and finished: 6
Started and subbed off: 4

At least 2 of those subs have been at the real end of the game as well.

He doesn't have to be all our striking eggs, but having a striker who has some goal scoring ability and recored would be a good start to assembling a front line yeh?

His athleticism against us the other day didn't seem that bad. He wouldn't be much use in terms of a fast pace game, but he seems to be good in the air, good at holding the ball up and has a nose for goal.

edit: Agent difference to Covs and Drapes seems to be that Dadi has scored goals!
I wouldn't mind if the knockers were throwing up 5 or six names other than Porter...

The same Graham Arnold that failed as Australian Manager even though he had an abundance of quality players at his disposal?

His opinion is worth less than the crap that landed on my shirt after leaving the arse of a bird that was perched above me on a ledge last Thursday!!!

Fair call.

another bold call.

Kwasnik is a different case as he never was an out and out stiker/target man, and was a wing player or generally played cutting in from the left.

Also, if you look at Van Djik, sometimes it takes time for players to show their class. Kwasnik has generally been poor, but did score preseason and against Waitak, and is a good third or fourth option, with the ability to play on the left. If he gets a bit of luck he may have more goals in him. He was off the crossbar in the first game, and had a bad offside call against Sydney I think.

A striker is better than no striker. I'm not saying Dadi is the best option. We want better strikers. If you name some better options who are available I'll happily agree to them. He is potentially available now though.

He's signed for Gold Coast United...

...and at this point we don't need Centre Backs.

If Dodd goes, then Salley would make a good option in midfield if McKain becomes more focussed on Centre Back.

I dont think we should go for Salley. He looked ok at the Knights but he doesnt seem to have moved up as the competition has got stronger. I have watched him play for Adelaide and most his play was negative.

I also like McKain in the midfield moving forward rather than in a more defensive role.

With resounding success too. Lia, Christie and Mulligan have all played well at right back........

Salley's a good player but we don't really need him.  We have McKain, Brown, and Ferrante - all players I'd pick above him. loyalgunner2008-12-19 11:54:22

we haven't tried Bertos or Ferrante yet, and I have a feeling that Brown could do a job there too

....and talking of right-backs, I'm surprised nobody's mentioned this yet:

Whatever happened to Mulligan? Can't remember the last time he played.

Is he injured? Or just not showing enough at training for Ricki to give him a start?

If that's the case, it's not good news because I recall we signed him for 2 years.

Maybe Ricki wil be rueing that decision as well.
Simon Elliot?

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

Elliot was rumoured for Hull City-  pre-season, but i don't know if he has a club at present - News will no doubt have his finger on the pulse

given that he has few prem appearances under his belt (Elliot, not News), i guess he'd be looking higher than the a-league for the next year or two

i do feel he's got the footballing brain to get players around him involved and into the box (he certainly did a good job of bringing Chris James into the game in his last outing for the all whites)

wasn't he at least training with New York? Or someone in the MLS anyway... don't know if he got a contract though.

He was training with San Jose - I think their current coach was Elliott's coach at LA Galaxy. You might be thinking New York as they signed Andy Boyens from Toronto.

are the phoenix going to buy  a new striker or do they have backup?

I'd say Drogba would be a good replacement

Well it's quite obvious we don't have back up. It'd be safe to assume we are going to sign a striker but who... I don't have a clue.
