Wellington Phoenix has signed Filipe Gui Paradela Maciel da Costa who is known as Filipe da Costa from Leeds United.
Its a two year deal for the 23 year old midfielder who prefers the left wing so Daniel will push into the middle of the pitch for Phoenix this season.
The Phoenix are going to announce 3 more signings tomorrow in the form of David Mulligan, Joel Porter And Shannan Cole From Port Vale, Hartlepool And Sydney United Respectively.

Where do you get this stuff?

I have asked my Greek mates this same very question many many times over the years

Nah he wont. He got offered a contract at the Gold Coast with his old coach but he turned it down because he wants to go home.

Not a very good player anyway.

It's either him or the African fella who keeps e-mailing Feverish.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

After that disclaimer I still think Greek-Boi is the African after a club over here eg "wrighting", lack of correct punctuation, lack of capitals throughout

Its no longer a problem.

Porter's season is finished with Hartlepool in May, he is going to make a decision then whilst he mulls over it in the next month or so, at this stage its 50/50 whether he will join or not.

Tony P already said that Daniel likely to be our only non-Australasian Player. So this news needs more credit. there has speculation before because he was unable to get a deal at his age and salary bracket. The other clubs preferring to invest in younger players for his pay packet salary.

USA international Chris Albright is rumoured to be heading to the HAL for 2008. Phoenix are believed to be favorites to snare his signiture

FourFourTwo Belief Factor: 3/10 - Hiya Chris, HIYA! Didn't you just sign up to New England Revolution in January though? Are you bored there already? Or is this just bollocks...?

After hunting for a suitable replacement to brazilian star felipe Ricki Herbert and the Wellington Phoenix are set to sign former Mariners marquee player Juninho on a two year deal to fill the the role of attacking midfielder. Phoenix staff are set to announce this major coup in the next week as well as the signing of formr Socceroo Joel Porter from Hartlepool

FourFourTwo Belief Factor: 6/10 - Yeah, well, anything's possible. But it ain't Bondi or Copacabana

I guess its possible but not likely.

You never know with these things. How many times have clubs and players said " we are only talking......nothing has been settled.......etc"   Then the next thing they are on board.

He would be an OK signing at the Phoenix. Needs to go to the gym and put on some beef coz he took a bit of a hiding last season.

To be honest we don't need him.

He'd be a 'nice to have' as cover for Daniel.

Media and profilewise he'd be massive.

Hard Bews Belief Factor 2/10.  Bollocks

Tony P's comment from another thread when asked about upcoming news on transfer front;

"Yes working hard more good news to come just be patient."

The Nix management team are on a roll with the players already secured (Durante, McCain and Bertos) - fingers crossed the hard work going on behind the scenes pays similar dividends.
He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

I emailed the Hartlepool United reporter on the Hartlepool Mail newspaper and asked for his comment on possible signing of Joel Porter. Here is what he had to say:

I think your CEO might not be far off. The comments that I've read from him seem to be a fairly accurate assessment of the situation. Joel, meanwhile, is keeping quiet on the issue. He's in fantastic form at the moment though so I guess Hartlepool will be keen to keep him if there is an option. The only problem with Joel is that he has been injury prone for the last two years. He seems to have put that behind him in the last three months though and is playing the best football he's played in probably three years.
