Phoenix Transfer - speculation (Part 1)
Yes must be tough for him. Not much game time versus living in a great city like wellington.
Don't envy him having to make that choice.
HOT WATER: Dino Drpic in action for his club Dinamo Zagreb.
Croatian football star Dino Drpic's dream of having sex in the middle of a football pitch has ended with the player being placed on his club's transfer list.
Defender Dino was outed by his wife, Playboy model Nives Celsius, who revealed that the couple had arranged for Dinamo Zagreb's stadium to be left empty with the floodlights on one night.
"Dino had arranged that people should turn on the stadium lights for us and he finally fulfilled his dream of having sex in the middle of a football pitch. It was very naughty," said Nives in a Serbian TV chat-show.
Despite his team refusing to comment on the situation, club bosses swiftly placed the 27-year-old on their transfer list and he now may be heading to Britain according to the Austrian Times.

"Ive just re-visited this and once again realised that C-Diddy is a genius - a drunk, Newcastle bred disgrace - but a genius." - Hard News, 11:39am 4th June 2009
Niko was born in 1971, so he'll be 38 this year, He's a great guy, but he can barely walk to the fridge to get the milk in the morning. As much as it pains me to say it, but no thanks.

Good criteria there Whitby and I think a very sound basis to make decisions. Some things are a bit speculative because there will always be differences of opinions on what we feel about certain footballers but lets use our 3 major free agents as an example.
Kwasnik Christie Dodd
1: Unlikely No Unlikely
2: Yes Unlikely Yes
3: Yes Yes Yes
Based on that, maybe if I was the gaffer, I'd look at re-signing Kwasnik and Dodd and maybe leave Christie alone. Then again he is a Kiwi and a very versatile player so there is merit to re-signing him. I don't think Kwasnik wants to stay and Dodd wont get better game time at those other 3 clubs than he does here currently.

Christie is fairly untested this year compared to both Kwasnik and Dodd who have had plenty of game time to push their case.
If you go by the criteria- on this season have they done the job the club has asked of them:
Christie - Yes Dodd - Yes Kwasnik- No
Really?
Good for him/Very bad for us!
ive got a song that wont take long, Adelaide are rubbish.. the second verse is same as the first.. ADELAIDE ARE RUBBISH
Dino. What can I say. The man's a complete numpty, and he's not that good a player either.
As far as Croatian players potentially coming here, in general I think it'd be a hard sell over there. You're really looking only at two kinds of players - youngsters who need a bit of experience whom we could get on loan, or slightly older guys (30+) struggling to hold a place in the team. The younger category probably wouldn't work for either us (difficult to plan long-term if you rely too much on loan players) or them (much easier to send them to 2. HNL or Bosnia to get experience). The slightly older guys could potentially be interested, but are a risky proposition. One name I could think of right now is Davor Vugrinec - bit of a journeyman these days, but has been able to score goals for most clubs he's played for. Currently with NK Zagreb, will turn 34 this year.

Yeah I was watching Spurs game and the commentator said it about mid way through second half, I had to research it myself, but it'd definitely Fred from Lyon.

I would probably say yes to Dodd for criteria 1. Next season Adelaide wont have Costanzo, Sasa or Valkanis with just Cornthwaite and Fyfe at the moment the only real candidates for CB and assuming Muscat re-signs with Melbourne, it will be Muscat and Vargas with no Seb Ryal or Thwaite to "seriously compete for regular starts" which I am sure Dodd would do. Out of all the players coming off contract for us, Dodd is the most important for us to re-sign.

Despite being born in New Zealand and having a father who coached New Zealand at the 1982 World Cup, Fallon chose to represent England at junior level. He did, however, represent New Zealand in an unofficial U-16 World Cup in France in 1998 where Wynton Rufer was the coach. Shortly after, he departed for England to be an apprentice at Barnsley.
In January 2006, New Zealand coach Ricki Herbert suggested that Fallon might still get a chance to represent New Zealand at senior level. Herbert claimed that the only reason why Fallon wasnt picked was due to lack of correspondence from FIFA regarding this matter. Fallon had until he was 21 years old to get a clearance from FIFA to change nationalities. However, it found that Fallon did not apply in the 2004 window to change allegiance for over 21s players. This year long window was made available by FIFA upon introduction of the rule which allows players with dual nationality to "switch" their allegiance before their 21st birthday. And so Fallon can never be available for New Zealand National Football Team.
That is an extract from wikipedia, I could have sworn he'd put on an AW jumper before but oh well.
Crap!
