Lia was replaced by Muscat, who didn't take up a cap slot.

As for the rest, we've had them, but not too many all at once

Would be class. I think a more realistic prospect is Dario Vidosic, though. (don't really rate him but he is a striker) Unfortunately when A-League players go overseas too early like Burns they are too embarrassed to come back. His father is also coach of the QLD youth team so don't know if he would come here anyway.

btw I heard rumours of us signing Chris Triantis from the Sydney youth team a few months ago. It sounded like it was a done deal. He sounds like a pretty impressive kid in the Jedinak mould. Anyone heard anything more about it?

was just about to meention Dario. I read recently that he hadn't makde any appearances for Nurenburg, and accordin to his Wikipedia page its only 5 (with no goals) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dario_Vidosic . He was also born in Croatia to Croation parents, which should please plenty of peeps on here.
You know we belong together...

Sorry to be lazy but 191 pages... Can't check them all.

Who have we definitely re-signed and signed for next season so far, in concrete?
Permalink Permalink
about 17 years ago · edited about 5 years ago · History
We've signed Diego from Adelaide.

Re-signed everyone except Plodder, Kwasnik, Dodd, Draper, Johnson.

Moss + Smeltz are buggering off, and Covs has retired.

Think that's all.yomcat2009-01-27 14:42:40

Wicked, cheers man.

They are in talks with Dodd I think though aren't they? Or they were?
Can't say I'd be too disappointed if he went personally but that's just me...

Apparently they're in talks with Dodd. Not sure about Draper and Plodder. Kwasnik doesn't seem likely to stay, and Johnson is broken and so should retire.

Wonder how David Williams is going at Brondby...Saw him a couple of times for the Olyroos - looked a pretty decent prospect. Really pacy.

Heard Te1fer on radio sport at 10:15 this morning with TonyP and Tony sounded confident that Dodd would stay.

Do we still have McKain and Durante too then? Were they both 2 year contracts?

Yup. In the A-League forum, there's a thread about contract lengths and stuff. Have a look at it.

Interview with Tony P

The numpty who is interviewing knows next to nothing about the Nix...

"You mentioned Porter? Is he on your radar for potential signings?" Tony-" Ah, Porter signed for Gold Coast a while ago."

Seems Fred might be available after October and he is definitely within the salary cap for us.

Its a good listen even if you are just listening to the guy who knows nothing.....

I'd quite like Robbie Kruse from Queensland.

Nope, proper signing, October is when his DC United contract runs out.

Attacking midfielders; Fred, Diego, Leo, Daniel, Hearfield

Let's hope it comes to fruition (Fred's signing).
He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

Only Feverish still likes the idea...

Kruse has failed to live up to his hype, got dumped and couldn't handle it...

Ah, nice. We can pray, then. I still have a feeling a club like Adelaide will jump in for him if there is a possiblity.

After October is too late, assuming he decides not to go somewhere else.  We need someone from day one.  The season will be just about half over by the time Fred can play.  We need to be recruiting such a crucial position for the start of the season if we're going to be serious contenders.  Still, Fred might be a worthy addition after October, if we can sign him.

Tony P said that we are in negotiations with Fred's agent for a contract after october, whenever we get him, he will be a valuable asset to the team. Would you rather miss out on Fred or wait until October to get him?

The latter I should think

If DC are not challenging for trophies, he may be able to secure an early release. Depends on how they go though.

My point is we should be looking to sign a quality playmaker for the start of the season, not when the season is half finished.  But in addition to that, Fred may still be a good acquisition to strengthen the squad after October.

I would love that, however, he has been ruled out as too expensive by Tony P, stranger things have happened however...

Diego will more than likely be injured for most of the season
