Shuker could be a great signing. He may play for us for many years even

Some people have suggested a front three of Greenacre, Ifill, and Shuker.  Is Greenacre definitely ahead of MacAllister on people's lists?  I know it's not all about them individually, but also how they perform with players around them and the other attackers strengths, but I would think it would be fairly tight.

Clapham has been told Ricki doesn't need him because we have enough CM's. Yet we are keen on signing Elliottt. The latter would be a great addition to the team as he would start but gotta feel for Clapham. Unless he can score a contract with the Fury I can't see him playing any higher than NZFC this season.

"We" doesnt include Ricki. He was quoted on Radio Sport at 3.30pm that Elliottt has not been offered a contract  and  he was not on his (Ricki's) radar.

I think if the north  deal fall's through. Riki will bring in Peverley for  Defensive cover / mid cover.

If the North deal falls through i will be completly underwhelmed by the Phoenix's results this offseason

You have to remember, that the 1 Aug date is for 20 players, there is still time after that to bring in other players, we don't play till mid August so we have another two weeks to get someone in.

Maybe we are trying to fit North under the cap and leave the Marquee spot open.

How many of last years players signed new contracts. Assuming they are on improved deals, how much impact may that have had on our space under the cap?

the Cap creates a conveyor belt of having to remove high earners to make way for cheaper players.

The cap increases every year to cover inflation.

Aren't there now three marque spots; Import, Aussie and Youth ?

I don't think the cap is the impediment to signing up higher calibre players.

I am still trying to figure out who the All White is / was we were after. It was obviously never Elliott, Peverly or Vicelich (I ruled out because we went for Jade North). It is / was an All White good enough to compete for a starting spot so I keep coming back to Fallon or Killen - I know it's been clarified but I can't recall if Killen is off contract.

Anyway the potential All White signing seems to have gone the way of the mystery Asian player - or, he says hopefully, it's a done deal being kept quiet.

I'm not too worried at the moment. There may still be quality players we are looking at who we haven't heard of yet! (Hopefully)

ugly football players make great signings, always. Think about it this way:

            David Seaman

Mauro Tassotti K. Muscat Roy Keane   Serginho

    Alvaro Recoba     Ronaldinho        Savage

           Ronaldo    Roy Makay   W. Rooney

yeah, sorry. I was giving John Cambpell 50% of my attention. I guess special mention would go to:
- Ribery
- Tevez
- Si Elliottt (great dude though! lol)
- Ji Sung Park
- Paul Scholes
- Friedel
- Alexis Lalas
- Andre Gumprecht
- Antonio Cassano
- and of course myself.

anyway, back to 'transfer speculation'!

I reckon Terry's willingness to just giveaway money is more of a limitation than the cap for us.

It's not so much Terry's pockets or the inflationary increase in the Cap, but if those coming off contract think they deserve a big raise to re-sign, it means that it puts pressure on the ability to fit everyone under the cap.

Rather than building a team over the long term, you are forced to move on players if you need room under the cap.

Usually there is natural turnover of players, but it doesnt really encourage long term team building with the same group of players

That Greenacre guy in that vid looks class, should be having a look at him

Edit: on a (slightly) more serious note. Given that on the Nix website Gouldy is listed in the team, does he count as one of our official team members? :p
