But we don't need more back-up players
I like tautologies because I like them.

Surely not having to pay a fee for him must be attractive and to be fair would we class him as a "back-up" player?

Rickis stated its someone who is a current all white and would slide straight into the starting xi, couldnt be any of the young lads surley? would that resign themselves to the A-league at this point?

Its Elliottt.
Herbert said it wasnt him because he was wanting to go back and play football in  America, but if he hasnt picked up a contract he may be starting to think the time is right for a return to NZ for a year or two.
Other comments:
Current All White
Attacking midfielder wanted
Will fit straight into the side (alongside Brown again)
Home town
Was at the ROF on 14th November
Coming back to ride on the back of a truck down Courtenay Place on a winter day in Wgtn.

If there was a fee for any player I doubt we would sign them so the fact that he's a free agent isn't a big deal. Last season we offered Killen Marquee status and $1,000,000. He turned it down. Ofcourse he would start but Killen is adament he wants to stay in Europe. If he moves to the A-League I doubt he'd ever end up back there and he probably wants to pro-long his career in Europe as much as he can. I would prefer that Killen was picked up by another Championship, SPL or MLS team before coming back here purely for the All White's sake.

The current All White comment wasn't quoted by Ricki.

I heard this was actually the correct information. With Mulligan gone, and Bertos injured they wanted some good cover for the free kicks...

Is Elliottttt the only overseas based All White coming to the parade? - Surely has to be another reason behind coming all this way. Fingers crossed it's him.

Dom Post 14th July
Herbert was talking up the quality of the transfer targets, who include a current All White.

"There's a South American player, an Asian player, an Australian player and a New Zealander," Herbert said, while ruling out nabbing Simon Elliottt.

"Not for any other reason other than I think Simon's intentions are to stay abroad."

Sure, he is not quoted, but .....

Of course Elliottt's interests in the USA may be beyond playng football and if Herbert did infer that a current All White was one of them  and was excluding Elliottt when he made the statement, I may well be wrong.

Hard to imagine that though

The radio advertising for the game referred to "six All Whites" turning out for the Phoenix against Boca.  Paston, Lochhead, Sigmund, Brown and Bertos and who else?  Unless they've just stuffed up I presume that the extra All White is scheduled to be announced by Friday.
Selhurst Park, 25 January 1995
What else could he have done?

Playing for 2 teams at the same time time surely gets a little bit of kudos, doesn't it?

I'm slightly disappointed!

This thread is getting pretty ridiculously long and hard for me to keep track of, is there anywhere I can find a reasonably up-to-date team roster?

The bit you bolded isn't a quote

'current All White' could mean basically any NZ player, anyway.

Johnson looks no mug, that is the level that A-League clubs have to recruit because of wages generally.

Interesting that he looks like someone who can operate both wide and through the middle, looks like he is a direct replacement for caceres positionally and you would expect him to compete with Leo and Ifill for those wide attacking positions.

He looks pretty ghetto!

Can anyone see where cornejo is from?

Johnson looks to easily be of A-League standard. He might struggle against the strongest defences, but in that video he looked capable of laying waste to the bottom-half teams. I would love to see him and Ifill switching wings and dribbling rings around A-League full-backs (apart from Jamieson I believe the whole league lacks in that position).
