Yeah i agree, while I hate to say that it looks as if he is everything we are looking for in our second striker...it is a DVD, but a pretty damn impressive one.

It will all be clarified by the end of this week on the China tour and I hope he makes a good case for himself because if he's anywhere still as capable as his highlights reel he would be a very good signing.

I somewhat very relieved that we didnt sign Astroclaus now...

Yeah, and you can rely on videos to sign players.

see also: George (God bless him) and Clebo

Sorry Tory, someone had to say it.

Also, watch some of those goals again and watch the defending. Straight out of Masters 3.

Most of the video looks great and here's hoping in China, but would you put all your worst blunders on your CV?

So what was he talking about while he ate his breakfast?

I think it was near the end of the second division when he was highest goal scorer with 24 goals, he was talking about how he wants to take Inter SM to the first Gaucho Division, I'm guessing he managed that....

His accent is very strong and he slurs his words together kind of the equivalent of a kiwi farmer who never opens his mouth and talks through his teeth....Russel Coutts is a good example....

Hard to catch everything. That coach was full fo praise for him though. That state champoionship would be one of the tougher ones in Brazil outside of Rio or Sao Paulo

Don't care if he scores 0 goals as long as he sets up other players and holds the ball up well.

I would care if we had an import striker and he scored 0 goals, even if he did hold the ball

If he does the Warriors might be keen for him, they're struggling to catch a cold at the moment

Valeo, wouldn't he more likely be the "target man" we're all hoping for? Seems to have height and strength and from his show reel vids he seems to get right into the thick of the action...(if we trust video that is)

Thats my point? His main job is to hold it up and get it to the likes of Greenacre. Obviously it would be nice if he could score a few headers too.

The good news is there may be something better on the horizon anyway. Didn't Tony say in the article that they are just awaiting a signature (and discussing money) with another who doesn't even require a trial?

Wouldn't pin my hopes on that, though. Still sounds as if theres a fair way to go with negotiations. Anyway, i'm glad it's looking up again. Hopefully it all works out.

I still want a gun midfielder. You can have great strikers that are made redundant if they aren't going to get the ball.
Here's hoping the prospects include someone who can run the show.

No chance.

They have made it clear that they see two strikers to finish a twenty man squad.  Room for any players they need in the future in the 23 but I can't see a midfielder arriving unless we're struggling a month in.

How's my driving? - Whine here

http://www.soccerway.com/national/saudi-arabia/league/2008-2009/regular-season/
summary of last years Saudi league.
Highest scorer for Al Hazem last year had five goals, they only scored 25 goals for the entire season.
not looking good.
the fact that he is trialling at his own expense now starts to look a little like desperation. 3 goals in his last 3 years in club football does not sound like what we need.
Surely Tony P has someone working at the club to chase down this kind of info?

Yes that is the first step but now we will see him play live with the squad and what type of person he is not like any of the above.

I've wondered about this myself.
Didn't see any other Brazilian names in his last team and almost all their new signings are Saudi too.
Without good communication with team mates some of the best players can be very  frustrated when there's a language barrier.
I used to wonder if  G** might have faired better had he had mandarin or cantonese speaking team mates or staff to communicate through.
Great that Daniel and Diego are Brazilian too,.. he'll have that in common if he trials successfully.

Yep that's the other thing I was thinking,Tony.
A team player, with a personality that can fit in with the team, that will be just as important as any skills he brings.

You might be right Valeo I presumed because he is American and Brazilian he might have spoken portuguese too.
Maybe Black Plague knows?

Looked impressive from the video but those latest stats are a bit of a worry.  He looked like the type of striker who picks up on a lot of scraps which is fine, but my worry is that the midfield won't be capable of providing him with those scraps to begin with.

Hmmm, I'm not sure we should be trying to sign someone who cannot enunciate clearly.

I thought he actually looked quite creative actually, good touches on the ball and really good in the air. I think if we have two in the middle for Bertos / Lochy/ Daniel/ Whoever to cross to, then we will have far more sucess

The fact that their is a player who wouldn't need a trial must be a definite good sign, yeah?

Obviously they must really rate him to be willing to sign him up. So he's either a striker with great pedigree that any team would want to sign , or someone they must of looked at while they were over in England.

I would prefer the first option, but I am thinking it will be the latter. Lets pull out some of those old clues to figure where abouts this guy could have been playing?

If we do make a good sigining who doesn't need a trial, then that means this Anderson Pooty guy could still be signed as a squad player because he seems like he is really willing to fight for his chance

Would Tony P, or News, be able to give us a teensy bit of info about this striker that is an automatic signing? Just so we can speculate some more?
