very true - are these all just opinions you've got after watching the vid or have you seen more of him?I think he would be quite a good force with Greenacre - because he seems to be able to move the ball quite quickly and take on defenders and the take quick shots whenever he gets near goal.
Opinion of the impression that the video gave me about him. He seems to have the right type of link pattern with Greenacre.
Again, it shows his best bits so it is hard to determine whether he is able to be consistent from game to game.
But as most people seem to be saying and it shows up with his combo with the other forward, he needs others to support him or he is not utilised effectively.
He is more a team striker that does finish well rather than an out and out striker, whereas Greenacre seems to mix it a bit and is a out and out box striker (can contest hard for scraps). Which means there are threats from anywhere in the attacking third when you have both of them playing and they should feed off each other. Something that Smeltz didn't have up front.
So the two games in China plus the CCM can the see if he is able to produce the goods from game to game and the CCM game should see if he handles physically stronger defenders. He can run very quick with his long legs and the video hides the fact he cover a distance quite well because he use his stride length rather than just the stride rate.
Imagine if someone helped to work on his running starts so he gets the initial acceleration with the stride rates increasing better, starting with smaller stride lengths to get his stride rate up before extending the stride length not the other way round. He could be quite deadly in the box then, making him an even better forward. Certainly, be one of the first skill set to look to improve him on. He looks that he could sprint even better, he has the right build and the legs to improve.
I just hope he is not lazy as some Brazilians tend to be because of the overreliance on skill but not on fitness and the physical or simply positioning. Not useful to be in the right position but the team don't work to give the ball to him and so it looks as tho he fades in and out of the game when the team don't make use of the player. So this is my worry tbh. Lots of Brazilians have the skill but not the hard work and effort. The best Brazilians are always the ones who have skill and the hard work. Thats what always separate the best to the rest in the Brazilians. Potty seems to have the skill and naturally has the physical strength but has he got the mental strength to do the hard work? That would be my question, because that is what can make him consistent from game to game and open more shooting opportunities for him.AllWhitebelievr2009-07-16 17:21:07
