Phoenix Transfer - speculation

I think McKain would be crazy to leave the Phoenix now that he's playing better football.

He could end up exactly like Dodd, go to another club, and end up in a worse position.

Centre back is his favoured position though apparently, so he may wish to move to another club in order to play there rather than def. mid.

Hopefully we don't try and movee him back to midfield.  He was fantastic against Melbourne, one of the best displays I've seen from a Phoenix player.

Where that leaves Dura is an interesting question though.

We surely couldn't guarantee any of those 3 Dura, Siggie or McKain a start- all top quality players...

shouldn't rule out Mckain in midfield...but it's Caceres, Diego etc etc in the creative part of the midfield that has been awol....

Can Dura play left back? (On FM08 he was)

Daniel doesn't like it when people talk about themselves in third person.

Could always try the all whites approach of three (Actually 5) at the back and get all three of them game time...

            Paston
    Siggy  Dura  Mckain
Troy/Manny             Lochy
    Daniel   Diego  Bertos
           Ifill       Greeny

No. Well not like that lol. If you did it, you'd surely have to play something more like

               Paston
  Sigmund  McKain  Durante
Herfield       Lia              Lochhead
         Bertos        daniel
          Greenacre   Ifill

And even then I'm not sure it would work. Daniel doesnt really fit that sort of team actually.
If I was Ricki, I'd be looking at Sigmund at RB again for these next dew matches. And also a streak of 5 wins in a row. Just working towards what will happen November 14

I think that Dura has stepped up a hell of a lot over the course of the last few games. Honestly, if we were just going on Phoenix performance and nothing else, i'd have to drop Siggy if McKain was fit. (not that he's played bad, mind you)

nope i agree. Durante has been playing outstanding. As did McKain at Melbourne. So Sigmund Right back perhaps

In the last season and a half(ish) Sigmund has been far more consistent than both McKain and Durante. Injury aside, I don't think Ricki would consider dropping him.

Yeah, I agree, just saying based on the form in this season alone (though Dura was horrible first game up)

I think in general for his reputation and ability McKain has been somewhat of a disappointment at the Phoenix.  That's not to say that he hasn't been good, or that we wouldn't want to re-sign him, but you'd expect him to be one of the better players in his position in the competition and he simply hasn't done it often enough for that to be the case.  He's one of the top earners in the side.

We need to play him in defence more. Then he'll perform to his ability

Allegedly

If that is the case though there doesn't seem a lot of point in having both him and Durante and Sigmund, when Durante and McKain will both be in the top end of our wage structure.

I don't know what kind of cap pressure we are under but I think we need to break the bank for a creative midfielder and I'd take that saving if it allowed us to get one

Gotta remember though how bad our defense was. Also that that would put us one injury away from being badly exposed in defence...

We would need a youth defender like Steven Old (but not him) as cover. Something for next season.

We need a whole youth/reserve team next season playing in a competition like the Australian National Youth League or NZFC . . . . then we wouldn't need to be in such a position.

When (if :/) we get our license renewed there will be absolutely no excuse for not getting a youth team imo. We need one to be level with the other teams.

I would agree, but Durante has only had a handful of good games (he's been progressively getting better this season) - McKain been more consistant. So has Siggy. McKain was great against Melbourne though.

My belief is that we aren't using the full cap and that is without using the marquee.

We've only got 21 players so you would assume that is the case

We aren't using the youth marquee either are we?

It's a pity because I think we're only one player short from being up there with the best sides in the competition

I think with Smeltz we'd be sitting a lot better on the table.  Not that I think there is anything wrong with how we play now, but he'd give us that genuine scorer and I think make a lot of chances for Greenacre in a style more suitable to Greenacres play.

Of course that boat has sailed.  While Fred would be nice to have we're creating as many or more chances in a match than any other side in the league, we just can't finish.

last we heard on Fred was that he had an offer from the 'Nix but had not made any decision yet.

I found a Phil Ifill (any relation?) in the transfer market, he turned down my offer to join the Phoenix

Now that Farina has been sacked (the person who said he was interested in signing him) hopefully the chances of him leaving are less. However he could well end up going to one of the new Sydney or Melbourne teams.
