Erratic. Intersperses moments of genius with periods of laziness... like quite a few of our 8 (now) attacking midfielders.

Just another Diego/Kwasnik/Elrich-like mistake. We don't need another Melbourne reject. Caceres is just not that good. He's good in spurts, sure, but we've already got that in Diego and Daniel. Kind of a ridiculous 'hey, might as well' signing.
Should be going for a guy like Musialik instead. Even though he's a bit of a dick.

But if they all spurt at different times then it could be exciting

I think I saw that once in one of those special movies

Maybe we can just swap him for Diego...
Agree though, not what we need.
If it was at all possible I would say we needed - 2 new fullbacks, 1 centre half, and 1 creative midfielder (Fred).
Alas, perhaps only 1 of the above will happen.

They don't spurt at different times, though, and thats a huge part of our inconsistency. Our best football is played when one player sparks and the rest follow, what we need is a midfielder who is consistenly creative and sparks the rest of the team. Leo and Ifill are capable of providing that spark, but frankly, I just want to see Fred back.

6 games though. I want someone for 20. Not greedy

Keep your "Fantasy football" to yourself Royal. Sheez!

Improving,,on the up, a work in progress from Italiano and the Nix. Bring on the bathroom bling in '24! COYN!

As I said in other thread, the only reason they have taken Caceres on is 'cos they believe they have a need. Could Diego's ongoing medical issues be the reason?

Sorry if this is in the wrong place but heard Luis Corales is off to play in Middle East. Hasn't quite made it as he got to Dubai and had visa problems and had to come back while visa is sorted.

I heard the same thing from a very reliable source.
Was also told about 6 weeks ago he had been offered a contact on very very good money and was off.

That would be pretty huge for the league if he can stay fit (or semi-fit - Charlie Miller and Fowler have done alright even though they are fat)

Would be another good addition to the league. why don't they switch Thompson into the cap and sign Dukes up as Marquee? would make sense to me

The only fat one who hasn't still performed is Pieman himself. Subbed last weekend at half time.

About 1 year ago, maybe more depending on who you listen to
,
Shane Smeltz was signed to the scum that is GCU. I am assuming that
with new clubs joining the league next season the FFA will allow clubs
to negotiate with players from October 1.
With this in mind, who would you like to keep and who would you let go for next season?
I have personally been impressed with the progression of the clubs roster each season and hope that the vast majority of the squad is kept intact.
Personally I think that Mulligan is on the outer and seems to behind Sigmund and Manny (possibly even Hearfield) at RB and just about all our other midfielders. I also think that Ferrante could go, possibly back home to where the Heart is
. If we re-sign everyone else that leaves 19 players with only 1 player needed to get the minimum 20 for the season which I think we should focus on a quality CM. If Chen goes get another striker.
Here is a list of our players and their supposed contract lengths (from the cove):
CONTRACT EXPIRES END OF SEASON 2009/10:
#1) Mark Paston (gk)
#2) Manny Muscat
#4) Jon McKain
#7) Leo Bertos
#10) Michael Ferrante
#13) Troy Hearfield
#16) David Mulligan
#17) Vince Lia
#20) Reece Crowther (gk)
#22) Andrew Durante (c)
#23) Costa Barbarouses (u21)
#14) Adrian Caceres
#12) Chen (Fgn)
CONTRACT EXPIRES END OF SEASON 2010/11:
#3) Tony Lochhead
#5) Diego Walsh (Fgn)
#6) Tim Brown
#8) Paul Ifill (Fgn)
#9) Chris Greenacre (Fgn)
#11) Daniel Cortes (Fgn)
#18) Ben Sigmund
#21) Marco Rojas (u21)

I'm surprised Mully isn't at least on the bench - he can play DM (Probably his best position), RM and RB.

Of the contracts expiring this season;
Definitely re-sign;

Re-sign subject to performance this season;
#13) Troy Hearfield
#17) Vince Lia
#23) Costa Barbarouses (u21)
#14) Adrian Caceres
#12) Chen (Fgn)

Don't re-sign baring some miraculous change in form;
#10) Michael Ferrante
#16) David Mulligan
#16) David Mulligan
I'm guessing this is Costa's last year as an U20 (?) if so he will need to justify a full squad position next season - if the poor kid ever gets a run.
Priority must be re-signing top 6 - biggest worry is McKain and then Durante.
He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

Ferrante needs to go, I don't see how he makes the bench. Leo Bertos is a must sign as well as Paston, Durante and Mckain.

Pretty sure it's U23. I'd definately keep Vinny Lia. The one signing I want to see is someone who can cover the whole backline.
You know we belong together...
