I can't think of anything he's done that falls into that category?

I know of a number (some I can't mention), not the least of which was provoking the bottle throwing incident by dancing off making gestures at the crowd.

Without the ethnic baiting.

Tony P has already said no anyway, talk is he's off to Newcastle as they will offer him the two year deal the Mariners wouldn't.

Remember that for most of the second half of the season he was relegated to the bench by the Mariners and it wasn't like Mrdja or MacAllister were prolific yet they were getting starts ahead of him.

I thought that Petrovski was average at best this season to be honest. Simon and McAlister were both better.

I agree that Petrovski hasn't been as prolific as the years previous, but we still persevere with Lockhead and he wasn't as good as last year, or Daniel....

Class is permanent, form is temporary. He'll be a good signing for the Jets, take some of the heat of Griffiths (if I was a jets supporter and cared)

Except that (in theory) Joel will be playing with the third brother in Beijing for the next 12 months.

He is good for the league because it gives everyone, someone to hate (except maybe Terry McFlynn) Muscat has personality and Tiatto is at least hard bastard, not a puff like Griffiths. Agent 472009-02-02 02:17:16

They talked about Killen possibly being interested in coming to the Phoenix.

It all sounded a bit strange.

Yes, but on the radio this morning he said the Phoenix want to sign him but he still has 18 months on his deal at Celtic which is a problem.

Still, he's dead to me for the rest of the season anyway.

I hope he comes here. It would be great, but also rather expensive. Maybe use the money off the transfer fee we got for Smeltz? lol

What Killen did say on Radio Sport (just after 8am) was:

He would be interested in coming to the Phoenix one day
That nothing was put down on paper (Which was I suppose is a suggestion that someone has spoken to someone)

Killen also has 18 months left on his contract and said he is going to do the rest of the season at Norwich and head back to Glasgow. Of course he said he was interested but that doesn't necessarily mean 'I'm interested, I'm on the next plane over'

Very True. Though it would be nice

I think the Phoenix would have to think very carefully about how much they would be willing to pay for Killen.  For example, I don't think he is marquee status.  His career has been fairly haphazard.  Apart from 4 seasons with Oldham (where he scored 17 goals), he has mostly been either a loan player, a reserve team player, or on the sidelines injured.  However, his strike rate at Hibs was good, although he wasn't there all that long and they weren't willing to resign him on a longer-term contract (countering that, Celtic did).  If there is a possiblity of signing him, I think the club needs to be careful and first should see how he does at Norwich (on loan) and make sure a thorough medical is undertaken.  Overall, possibly would be a good signing for the A-League, but not for what the richer British clubs might be  willing to pay.  In the end, the Phoenix have a salary cap and strict budget to operate under, so the bucks have to be spent wisely.

i don't think, at the monment, he's an option.

If his loan spell at Norwich goes well, it'll bring him back to the attention of Championship clubs in England who will able to meet any transfer demands that Celtic would have and offer him, I would imagine, a lot more money than we could.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Radio Sport this morning:

CK - "...one day I would love to return and play at the Wellington Phoenix"

RS - Has there been any approach from Phoenix management ?

CK - "I'm not going to go in to too much detail, as it was I was contracted to Celtic and I wasn't looking elsewhere so there was nothing but down on paper so I can't confirm that"

RS - Neither confirm nor deny, but kind of confirming.

CK - "heh"

My take from the interview was that Phoenix have talked to him about his interest, and at this point Killen is still wanting to play in Europe, but is interested in possibly coming back later.

Makes sense for the Phoenix to stay in touch with him, but can't say anthing happening for a few seasons yet, unless the loan at Norwich is a disaster. (Like 3 own goals v. Ipswich perhaps?)

Maybe Phoenix should try for Killen? He has just gone on loan to Norwich in England and is basically not doing a whole lot. NO chance of getting in the Celtic team, EVER.

He'd be earning more in Norwich's reserve team than we'd be able to afford to pay him

Are you sure? He gets 6k (pounds) a week at Celtic, and his next deal won't even come close to that as he has done nothing at Celtic. How much can the Phoenix afford? How much does a marquee player earn?

6,000 x 52 weeks = 312,000 * (1 GBP = 2.82442 NZD) = $881,217.94

You'd be wanting at least 15 goals for that to match Smeltzy rate and then some for the marquee factor.... and thats if he stays injury free.

If he's getting anywhere that sort of money in the British market, good luck to him.  It just shows the stupidity with respect to the money spent there. Killen's definitely not marquee player quality for the A-League and definitely not worth in the A-League market anywhere near the sort of money calculated by Agent 47.  The Phoenix or any A-League club would be mad to spend that sort of money on a player with credentials similar to Killen's.
