I really hope we do resign Plodder.

plodder didnt actually get much game time so maybe he might want to look at somewhere where he might play more often

Only problem for him is that it will have to be among the lower grades as cannot see any a-league teams coming in for him.

Great article Coxey. I didn't realise all that had happened to the guy. Turned down Man United! What a decision.

TBH, I think Plodder did quite a good job coming off the bench. But I wouldnt be overly concerned if he wasnt re-signed.

Is he the dude who played with Palace at one stage?

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Yep, he played for them before joining Rovers. Not quite the same since his accident, but mebbe worth the gamble if he was interested.

Well RJ has retired. I heard Covs himself say he wasn't deciding anything yet, going back to South Melbourne was just a rumour. WRT JC and KD, the editor is either close to the camp or a cynic. Critical_Lemon2009-02-11 19:56:21

No

1: The team has moved on since then. From what I remember from a year ago, negotiations started for him to come back but he priced himself out of our range.
2: After teams figured out to kick him, he was easy to shut out of the game. It means we are relying on referees to protect him for him to be effective.

I'd have him back for sure. Along with George and the mighty Cleberson.

Yes I would have felipe back again...as long as he had a more positive atttitude.

when you look at at the differences between season 1 and 2..especially on attack you would have to agree that our something was definitely missing in season 2. i think that Felipe's contribution was vital in season 1. he gave the side an edge in central midfield. Trouble was he gave up late season after taking a fearful pounding by defenders.

Theres one thing that I see as a huge problem in the A-league. There has to be more protection given to creative players. At the moment its too easy for defenders to just smash smaller flair players like Felipe and juninho out of the game. Ref's need to come down harder on physical contact. if not the A-League will just be a crash/bash game.

I think the defensive side of the team has moved on and we have a much tighter back 4 and McKain did a good job as DM. However as an attacking force sadly we went backwards this year. Much harder to break down and we scraped out some good results but as an attacking force we were ordinary.

I'd have him back, fit and motivated he is a class act.

Fair call Whitby. I think we did lack a person that ran at the defense with ball at feet but the issue still remains and Zinidane touched on the point I made as well:

Players know to rough him up early on and he disappears from the game. For players like McFlynn, Tiatto and Muscat, they already have no issues sitting someone on their ass at the expense of a yellow card and whats more, those players know that because they saw him last year.
Bringing him back gives us a known quantity which is great, but also a known quantity for our opponents. Sure our whole team is now known but no one kicks McKain off the ball and watches him disappear. Felipe is a good finesse player but I don't have enough faith in the match officials to give him protection every single time he walks onto the park in the hope that he remains effective to the Phoenix because of that. Sure Muscat will clean him out the first time and do it right and get a yellow, but that first tackle will always be the one that stops Felipe from playing because the opposition know to make the first one a good one and take the yellow for the team to shut him down.

Juninho has already argued the case that the league is far too physical for ball players and that they are not afforded the protection from match officials they would get in other leagues. Agent 472009-02-12 23:29:16

also if kickings were handed out Brown and McKain built up a rep as tough midfield customers, and maybe we wouldn't be so easy to intimidate.

Depending on how much we can get him for, and if Ricki and co. can be sure he'll bring the right attitude. First off we'd need him to lower his demands from last year. Oska2009-02-13 08:06:56

Why are so many people transfixed on looking at the past in order to move forward?

Thats not how it works... he came, he flashed, he got squashed, he faded... he's now off to probably suffer the same fate with NQ (if we're to believe Feverish).

Some of you sound like your talking about an ex boy/girlfriend ffs... you remember the awesome times and the climax's... but forget all about the tantrums and the headaches

Move on already.

It is now a tradition at Spurs, introduced recently by Harry, that the best strategy is to get back the guys you let go previously. Harry is a visionary and the nix should not be scared to walk in his footsteps.

they did say they were looking at an attacking midfielder that was from brazil didnt they?? I thought Felipe was the star of the Phoenix last season and would love to see him back.. Daniel, Felipe, Diego and hearfield running at defences could be quite a sight...

Felipe was a star until Queensland kicked the sh*t out of him, he struggled after that.
