I wouldnt have put money on GCU to win last night, let alone by three goals keeping us and Perth still even (apart from their superior goalscoring prowess)

This sh*t just got REAL!

I would like to see Lia and Brown out for a Smith / Sanchez backbone too, but it's never going to happen.

Ricki has teamsheets printed with Lia and Brown already printed on there, so the rest of the team will just get built around that.

(me waits for someone to say "remind me again, we're 4th on the table right")

You know, it's the Constitution, it's Mabo, it's justice, it's law, it's the vibe.

You forgot the $30 entry fee to the feverzone.

Is Daniel still around and available for this game? I haven't been following the forums much but it seems that since his trial overseas he is no longer wanted or available by the Phoenix? I'd rather have him in the midfield than most of the current bunch.

He is (badly) walking around in crutches. He'll get some practice using them,so will improve at it.

Can we please have Smith back at DM and Sanchez back in CAM? Thanks...

This....oh so this! (won't happen in a million years)

This game will be like a Cup Final. Two teams desperate for a result....both going hard at it. with all the pre game entertainment and a a big buildup it should be an absolute cracker. Sure hope the weather plays its part and we get a huge, huge crowd.

This could be one of the great days in the Nix's short history!!!
Make lots of noise, get your banners out, get everyone you know to the game!!!!

One other thing.....anyone know when Uncle Gareth comes off ice?

Would be nice to have him back on deck making lots of noise in the media before this match.

I personally don't think Smith/Sanchez in MF would work. Sanchez is so lazy tracking back.
I also don't like Brown/Lia together as they are both work horses but lack in passing ability and flair.

I personally would like a MF/FW shaped this way

                                      Smith
                                                 Brown

                      Iffi                                                  Bertos

                                               Sanchez

                                                         New Striker

I would line up with a 4-1-4-1 formation.

Smith in DM. Ifill, Sanchez, Brown and Bertos in the mids.

Wish I was there at both places to see that (will be out of town unfortunately - I might ask Jnr Jnr to wag school to get Dane's autograph).

That competition to Kiev for the Euro Cup final, including flights, hotels, $1000 spending money is an INCREDIBLE prize.
It is a real footballers competition. By having to send a photo of you in your stripey to win it eliminates a huge number of people. If it had just been off a seat drawn from Sundays match then it could have gone to someone who was just there for the music. You would had a one in 10,000 plus chance of winning. By doing the stripey thing you probably have a one in 100's chance of winning.....which are fantasticly better odds.

The prize will most likely go to a real football fan who will have the trip of a lifetime....rather than some bimbo who came to see Dane Rumble....and would thinks Kiev is someones boyfriend!!!

Is anyone else as stoked as I am that we have a home playoff guaranteed and are in with a shot at finishing 3rd??

Especially given the doom and gloom that was surrounding the team 4-6 weeks prior to the season starting (incomplete squad, Pantelis injury, potentially worst season ever etc etc)?

Try TWO weeks before season started. New Owners confirmed 23.9 Season kicked off 7.10.

So yes, I would suggest even the more optimistic people are really rapt over our position.

That said expectations have probably now changed and people hoping for a good finals run

Incredibly great season.....OK some of us have been a bit picky about some of the selections and tactics but you reall have to applaud Ricki and this squad for where the team are now. It is even possible that they could go through and playoff to make the Grand Final....which would be absolutely amazing.

I still think they are one or two quality players short of going the whole way to the final but whatever happens now the season will still be a great success.

Things get even better when you listen to Gareth on Wyntons radio show....he was talking about major announcements coming up regarding staff appointments and youth teams. He was also opptomistic about recruiting attacking players for next season.

When in Dunedin for the Roar Game, spent a fair bit of time chatting with Frank van Hattum. He was absolutely adamant a Yoof team in some form or another will be in place this year for the Nix. They (NZFA) are acutely aware of the need for it and are throwing there weight and support behind it.

"This thrilling Hyundai A-League season reaches boiling point on Sunday and Westpac Stadium takes centre stage as the Premiers-elect aim to finally get their hands on the silverware that they have been so close to for such a long time.

Can Central Coast Mariners seal the title or will Wellington open the door for Roar to overtake them at the death? The ladder leaders have taken six points from Phoenix this season, what better way to gain revenge than by crushing their title dreams on this sensational Sunday? Join the Fever Zone and make a difference."

I wonder if the club has over estimated the IT literacy of many of the the YF. As strange as it may sound to most of the younger IT literate members, there are many of the elder generation who don't "do" facebook. It is also quite possible that there are many who don't know how to email a photo......

It's not putting me off. I am just actively not talking up the competition because the fewer people who enter the more likely I am to win. I'm all for promoting the club etc., but in this case my self interest means I am not talking it up, not making sure people know about it or how to enter. I want to win it.

I am working on my entries and will be submitting them on Friday.
