Good to see more of these kind of deals.  Well done again Welnix.

Have just been on Ticketek having a nosey around .... it is saying that Away Zone has been sold out. Surely not? Would be great result if it has.. Have the "yellow army" decided to arrive en masse? Or is it simply a ticketek f**k up?

It was saying the same thing in the lead up to the Cold Toast game too... remember the discussions about whether Clive had bought it up so he had enough room for himself etc.?

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

CHECK THE ENEMY'S FORM THIS WEEK:
CENTRAL COAST V NAGOYA GRAMPUS (JAPAN)

AFC CHAMPIONS LEAGUE WEDNESDAY NIGHT

Video highlights (Arabic commentary but longer highlights than next option):

English Commentary:

Extensive CCM Pre-match interviews and News Conference:

Match Reports:

Central Coast Mariners line-up: 1 Mathew Ryan (Gk), 3 Joshua Rose, 4 Pedj Bojic, 6 Patrick Zwaanswijk, 7 John Hutchinson, 11 Oliver Bozanic, 12 Troy Hearfield (9 Bernie Ibini 72), 14 Michael McGlinchey, 17 Tomas Rogic (2 Daniel McBreen 78), 18 Alex Wilkinson (C), 22 Mustafa Amini. Subs Not Used: 10 Adriano Pellegrino, 16 Trent Sainsbury, 19 John Sutton, 20 Justin Pasfield (Gk), 21 Sam Gallagher. Yellow Cards: Rogic. Red Cards: Nil.

Sounds like Rogic and amini were pretty decent on attack and CCM fans were impressed by their side's performance.
CCM didn't seem to have any injury issues from this match.

Arnold on his side:

"I cannot be prouder. We had four or five kids out there, 18, 19-year-olds and they were superb. We challenged the kids tonight and they came through with flying colours," he said.

"Adelaide were brilliant [in their defeat of Gamba Osaka on Tuesday] and we wanted to put on a good performance to show everyone why were sitting where we are on the league and that were worth it.

"It mattered to me because people talk about the A-League but we're playing against a $50 million team and want to prove something.

"We had probably the best chance of the game [to win it]. [It was a] fantastic performance."

Sounds like Lia will be out and there is some uncertainty whether Ifill will play;

"Aside from Lia struggling with a groin complaint, Paul Ifill has spent the week in bed with the flu and Herbert said he would decide on his playing XI tomorrow (Sat) for Sunday's 4pm clash.

Ifill not playing would be a crowd killer.

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

I think we put 5 past Newcastle without Iffy.  But yeah CCM are obviously stronger than the Jets.

The match scenarios seem to be;

1) Perth beat Victory; we have no realistic chance of finishing 3rd and players are rested.

2) Perth draw with Victory; whilst mathematically we could take 3rd with a higher scoring draw realistically we must win.

3) Perth lose to Victory; a draw or better would see us take 3rd. Personally I dread the prospect of Herbert playing for a draw.

In terms of a chance of finishing 3rd 3) is obviously the much better option but under that scenario I hope we would actually try and win the game. I think we would have a much better chance of at least picking up a point taking the game to CCM rather than sitting back and trying to score on the break e.g. the last game at home against the Roar.

Or Perth could win 1 - 0... in which case if we won by 2 goals we'd be third. Going for that is not beyond the realms of possibility, especially since if we don't make it there is zero chance of us losing 4th... why wouldn't we give it a go?

This.

No matter what the result is tonight, we have a chance at coming third. Granted, we may need to win by 3 or four goals, but anything is possible in this league (who would have picked GCU to beat Perth 3-0?!?). Add in that many of the CCM players played a game on Wednesday in the ACL and we have a shot at beating them and taking third place.

Whatever happens to Perth tonight, we just have to do better than them.

Their is no way we can afford to put on a very dull lose, because we have no chance of third. The big push for a large crowd and then expect them to come back after a poor spectical. Would be suicide.

If that dull loss meant that we finish ahead of Perth would we still not be able to afford it? Realistically, the players need to focus on whats happening on the field rather than off it, and if a 1-0 loss means we will take third spot on the table then so be it.

In saying that, I think that we should go out and try to win the game, just like we would any other home game.

Yeah maybe.Momentum going into the finals is another factor.I'm hoping we charge in,guns firing and smack the sh*t out of them. Then onwards and upwards

My 2 cents

it's going to be a strange sort of game

with one eye on next friday, possible resting of players, and with the possibility that we might *celebrate* a loss

as folks have suggested this is hardly a recipe to win fans and influence people

fair enough that Ricki has to think ahead (and I'd certainly want to look after Iffy), but i'd quite like to see a win

Should be an interesting game, as CCM have to win to ensure that they finish first. The fact that they played mid week won't make them any easier. These guys will be desperate to win and shrug off the disappointment of last year.
I dount expext any favours tomorrow.

If we are going to rest players, that sucks for Lindsay, the one time he would get a chance, but he's up in Taupo for the Olympic qualifiers ...

Hmm did this slip under the radar? Just checked the link on the first page again trying to find out when the gates open, and noticed this:

Not only will your Stripey get you entry into the draw if you send in your image, but it will also get you free bus transport to and from the game! Anyone with a Wellington Phoenix FC 2011/12 Season Membership, a current Westpac Stadium membership or a 25 March 2012 game day ticket will get free bus transport on a Go Wellington or Valley/Airport Flyer bus between the hours of 1pm and 7pm on Sunday March 25. The only catch is you MUST be wearing a piece of official Wellington Phoenix supporter gear such as your Stripey.

Still can't believe he's got 0 game time this year with such a thin squad. Couldn't see that happening at any other A-League club..

Not saying he'll be the messiah or something; but surely he's a better option than Downey or Tattslotto?valeo2012-03-24 14:42:52

Lindsay plays in the centre of the park, where we have tons of options. Downey has got most of his time when he has been thrown on to chase balls down, whilst we are sitting back defending leads. Tatts has come on as a wide player, where we don't have much depth in the squad.

Over the off season I hope Lindsay goes and plays in the Aussie state leagues, so he can get some game time and help him develop.
