What we need is a midfield player like McGlinchey. Pace, football brain and the ability to open up defences.Very unlike anything we have.

Bloody hell we are so bloody slow,as for counter attacking our idea seems to be go backwards more often than we go forwards.

Congratulations boys on getting us to another finals series. But and a big one at that i dont think that we can kid ourselves in any way that it has been a pretty watch. At least we are there lets hope there is some serious work done on the squad for next season.

Now that was sh*t. it's all well and good to hold onto the ball but do something with the farkin thing other than give it away in our own half. we were devoid of ideas today and this can't continue if we want to win the finals series

Yes, it truly was a magnificent display of attacking football, how wrong we all were

Same old same old for this season. Our FIFTH home defeat which is very poor stuff. Surprisingly Durante was at fault for both goals with 2 woeful passes under no pressure.

We are fairly devoid of ideas going forward and when we do create chances the finishing is just not good enough. Greenacre's one-on-one first half was a truly terrible effort, and Pavlovich's just showed how bad he really is, first touch of a crippled donkey.

Midfield of Brown and Lia is just appalling. Brown barely scores any more so offers literally nothing and Lia is crap, pure and simple. For this off the ball work that their fan clubs say they do, we've been overrun in midfield 2 weeks running in midfield with those pair posted missing!

Agree with whoever said above that we are far too slow...counter attacks break down so often because of dithering on the ball, usually Bertos, and the chance is lost.

Lots of work needed in the pre season and I would not be unhappy with an entire new midfield, preferably with players that can control games and not jog around aimlessly.

I think her point was its not like we came out with a defensive mindset. We did look to attack, we were just a bit sh*t at it.

I seem to recall from the television it was about 9,700. Or something. Under 10,000 anyway. I stand to be corrected, even though I am sitting.

Hey you bastards I'm still here.

On the basis of today's showing, I think Greenie to the bench, Ward to the wing, Sanchez into the middle and Pav somewhere the f*ck away from here. On the Pav note, what exactly has he done that say, Dakota Lukas, couldn't have done?

I think Ward played very well, had some great touches on the ball. Did enough to start ahead of one of Brown, Sanchez or Lia.

Said to my mate that I had seen more of Ward in the 10 minutes he had been on at that point than I had seen Brown and Lia the entire game.

Not get sent off for dissent? Not been a bit of a c**t to phoenix sponsors?

Though yeah, wouldn't be too disappointed if we let Pavlovich go.

lol - we'd need to find another two or three players who could keep up with him as well.

dunno - thought today showed how close you can go with a bit of effort.  CCM were so much techically better than us and finished a couple of goals clinically.  But for all that we hustled and bustled and created a heap of chances.  Just a shame that each time we did that, they'd had time to have a beer, put a bet on the TAB, share a few jokes and pop out to see how we were going and get 8 behind the ball.  Reminded me of playing Brisbane when every Nix player on the ball had two or three defenders surrounding them before they could think what the heck was going on.

Fourth is a pretty good effort, but it'd be great to have a youth team and a few fit, fast young fellas coming on.

As for Brown, ffs every time he fouled he looked like he couldn't see how the ref could have called it.  Brown's tackle is like Pavlovich's first touch.  totally unco.

Still enjoyed the game, CCM were a pleasure to watch a lot of the time and despite their limitations the Nix stayed in it, sort of, and created plenty of half chances.

We have limitations. But we also have an advantage - having NZ and australian players count as local. That balances it out for me.

HN will bag him bit Wards output in terms of goals and assists in a 3rd of a season has matched greenacres whole seasons output (4).. Sad but true.

Im all for greenie to bench for the crunch game, anything to get Sanchez back up front to play with ifill. Probably no chance in hell ricki will see it that way. I just cant see us progessing with Lia/Brown/Greenie as our middle 3.

On the other hand, Greenie has more goals than Paston. So we should move Greenie to goalkeeper, and put Ward up front.

Grand final here we come.

Agreed.

However, I think this loss goes on Dura, 2 poor touches - ruthlessly punished - led directly to goals - just like the 3rd goal (a poor touch by Lia)  we conceded against the Victory.

I just think Greenie's age seems to be showing, and although he works hard I don't think he scores or creates enough to justify starting in a central attacking position - especially when he's not a big target man either! And we looked at our best this season when we had Sanchez playing centrally so that's my solution. Agreed that Ricki won't see it that way though

probably the least miserable i've felt after a home loss- perhaps i'm getting used to them

though it more a case of knowing that once they'd scored two - there was not a lot riding on the rest of the game apart from, pride, form, and crowd numbers for friday

oh and in agreement with others - Pav's comedy value is now outweighed by the fact that we desperately need a player or 2 who can score

oh well at least - touch wood - there were no injuries

Sometimes I wonder if this is a disadvantage. If Kiwis counted as imports we'd maybe be more likely to get shot of Brown, Lochhead and Bertos...

Thing is, it is easier to forgive Durante as he is usually very solid. He was at fault for both goals though.

early in the first half dura went over to the side line and got something off one of the sideline staff and looked like he was swallowing some pills

he might not have been in the best of nick
