Makes me wish I was back in Wellington. I wonder if the match will be televised on Foxtel for us traitors across the ditch?

You'll probably find you won't have your season ticket by July 20th anyway.

Are we all congregating to the Fever area even with the free seating arrangement?
Surely...

Brilliant. I haven't had a good old chant in yonks.
I'm so excited.... And I just can't hide it... I know, I know, I know, I know, I know I want you.
(you = the yellow fever section and the game on the 20th... No offence HN)

How many goals do you think the Mariners will win by. I think it will be 2 - 1 to the Mariners with hamburger boy scoring the winning goal with seconds left.

Now YF mods, football fans and crowds at times need be kept under control so it is fair to the other side. In this regard Nix's fan should not hold up pictures of take away food  to keep AE mind off the job of thumping the Nix's.

I'm not sure what is worse... the inane and irrelevant crap you fill the news section with or the incredibly lame attempt at trolling.

You're lucky to get a 1/10 for such a woeful effort.

I'm going to put this out there...
Does anyone else feel even slightly awkward about destroying El**ch through chants?
Yes he played a crap season for us... But I don't know.
I have a funny feeling I'm going to feel a tad bit guilty chanting against him, knowing he played for us...
Like if he looked at me while I was chanting about him, I think I'd avoid his gaze and feel guilty.
I'm probably going to get a bit slated for this but...
Does anyone else feel like this or nah?

I'm a big fan of visual baiting (Got Pie anyone ?)  but chantwise I think we'll try and focus on supporting the Phoenix, unless he makes some errors... no guarantees though.

I have too many memories of laying in to Con Boutsianis only to see him score and give the crowd the finger...

How's my driving? - Whine here

a wee bit of verbal acknolwedgement is tempting

best we get  a look at him before launching into the 'pies' chant - he may have pulled finger and lost a bit of weight  ( i hope he was advised to wash it before sticking it down his throat)

Will this game be televised? What about the other pre-season stuff?
Permalink Permalink
over 17 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
not sure, but it seems highly unlikely thatthe rpe-season matches would be televised over here (not sure if they are covered in full even in Aus)

last season i don't think  tv 1 showed even a highlight snippet in the news  (depsite a wee flurry of emails)

not sure what tv 3 had in their sports news last pre-season - but based on the usual efforts it seems doubtful that they would have been quite as dismissive of the Phoenix as tv 1 were

I think with pre season, you either got o the game, or you read the score updates on this site. With the tickets only being available at the club shop or the gate, would it be logisticaly possible to set up ticket stand at the Backbencher before the game?

I'd like to see costa and hearfield get a run

I'd like to see McKain and Dodd switch places (as McKain is a better attacker).
Would also like to see Hearfield get some time.
And if you remember Gao, he is a wide player so daniel will be better suited to the middle.
Don't forget Tim Brown, he's a class player who struggled with injuries a bit last year. Will be back to his best for this season.

on the basis of yesterday's lineup (and v u23's) McKain and durante look likely to be the cb pairing

and Gao was in the hole (or thereabouts) yesterday

Won't Hearfield be in camp with the Olyroos by then?

That's interesting. He does have the skill to play there.I suppose we have enough wide players as it is.

There'll be a full live radio commentary on Newstalk ZB for those in Wellington.

For those outside Wellington, you can hear it on either the Newstalk ZB or Radio Sport websites. It won't be nationwide on Radio Sport because it clashes with the NRL.

The Mariner's site has El**ch at 77kg.  If its true then I wont be in a position to call him a pie eater.
It must be a joke though - in his prime he might have been 77kg.

I put it down to dodgy Aussie scales!

77kg??? No way...
Wouldn't it be typical if he had gotten in to great shape and has a cracker season for Mariners.

It will be very interesting to see what the attendance is at next week's Mariners game. According to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_A-League_Pre-Season_Challenge_Cup) last season's pre-season games at the RoF averaged 5,000.

With only 1 round robin pre-season game at the RoF this year, and so many of us hanging out to see the Nix back in action, I think a good day will see a great crowd.
He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)
