Are there gate sales for the pre-season matches? Don't want to show up and find I can't get in! :P

Pretty sure there are, think booths open from 12. Easier to get them from the club store though, that way you can maximise your time at the BB.

It must be a joke though - in his prime he might have been 77kg.

Tubby or not..

It's nice to know you're here
It's nice to know you're here...

NOW f**k OFF!

(Given that there's never an opposition fan base to direct this at - and the handful of those that do make it, deserve our respect in some ways - El**ch can have some of that).

Although saying that I need to preserve a sense of decorum for this one and only game given that Junior Hotspur will be coming along, so maybe I'll park it for season proper....

My team goes as such:

                                 Moss
Sigmund            Mckain   Durante     Lochead
                           Lia    Ferrante
Bertos                                              Daniel
                                   Gao
                                  Smeltz

I think Dodd is average but I don't really mind adjustments to rightback or central midfield. Only other acceptable changes are kwasnik but if johnson, paston, costa (although i think he could be on the bench). I am also not perverse to the injection of some sweet hearfield action from the bench. But my bench would be:
Paston
Hearfield
Kwasnik
Dodd

I dunno if its been discussed yet, but, er... we don't actually have a right back then!??? I'm sure Sigmund is a centre-back...
Oh Wellington is wonderful. We got the wind, the rain and the phoenix. Oh Wellington is wonderful.

It's been discussed over and over and over again.  Lia is the right back....to start with anyway.

yeah lia seems to be going for that spot but I would prefer if sigmund (who has been playing a bit of right back) was either pushed in there or was put in the defensive mid position Dodd occupies in some possible formations.

My pick for next week's starting line up and bench:

                                 Moss
Lia            Mckain   Durante     Lochead
                        Ferrante
Bertos                                              Daniel
                          Gao
                   Kwasnik Smeltz

Bench:

Paston
Dodd
Johnson
Hearfield

Only 8 days to go !!!!

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

Ferrante is more of a attacking player, and I think we've already got enough fire power upfront.  So I would use Dodd as def-mid.

                    Moss

Lia   McKain   Durante   Lochead

                    Dodd
 Bertos                            Daniel
                     Gao

           Kwasnik

I know there are mixed views on this but I struggle with the idea of Dodd playing in the midfield - albeit defensive midfield. I just don't think he has the speed or ball skills to play midfield. I hasten to add, before anyone jumps down my throat, I thought he was definitely one of our better players last season and I can see him getting plenty of game time - but in the back 4.

Ideally Brown would start as the defensive midfielder when he is injury free.

I think it might be like this :

                                Moss
               Lia      Mckain   Durante  Lochead
                                 Dodd
               Bertos        Gao        Daniel
                                          Kwasnik
                              Smeltz

Subs:
Paston
Costa
Hearfield
Ferrante

No defender on the bench because if one gets injured Dodd can drop back and the injured defender can come of for Ferrante who can play where Dodd is playing

Was mentioned in the papers recently that Siggy has been spending some times as an RB in preseason matches... probably as a cover option for when/if Lia (the closest thing we have to an RB) gets a suspension.

I know with all these free flowing attackers and grim faced central stoppers we got in, the defensive midfield hasn't been much in fashion...err but yeh? what happened to

The All Whites captain and last years VC at the least being picked on the bench by YF
and Richard Johnson, purportedly the best defensive mid in the league with experience by the bucketload...

not worth inclusion?

with our squad we should be allowed a bigger bench...its crazy the quality that gets left out.

The other thing is that last season on the posts everyone seemed to be saying that Ferrante's passing was an important part of our game..?

Mariners beat Jets 3-0 in a game today i think

"Jedinak headed home his second from an Ahmad El**ch corner ten minutes into the second half to complete the victory "

El**ch with a assist? surely not

Sounds crazy but if memory serves me correctly we got a couple goals from his corner kicks, certainly Rees' header against the Jets was directly off an El**ch corner.

It will be interesting to see how the Mariners go against the NZ Under 23's, I think the match is today or tommorow, then they play us.
