My picks, starters in black, subs in red;

Wellington Phoenix squad: 1. Mark PASTON (gk), 3. Tony LOCHHEAD, 4. Jon McKAIN, 5. Karl DODD, 7. Leo BERTOS, 8, Vaughan COVENY, 9. Shane SMELTZ, 10. Michael FERRANTE, 11. DANIEL, 12. Richard JOHNSON, 13. Troy HEARFIELD, 17. Vince LIA, 18. Ben SIGMUND, 19. Greg DRAPER, 20. Glen MOSS (gk), 21. Leilei GAO, 23. Costa BARBAROUSES, 24. Andrew DURANTE (captain), 27. Adam KWASNIK

I'm really looking forward to seeing Kwasnik play - especially against his old team. I doubt he'll start but hopefully he'll get 25 - 30mins.

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

Guttered!!!
Really wanted to see Kwasnik!
Perhaps protecting him against over zealous former teammates!
CCM have a very very strong team again.

I'm not sure if he's match fit, having joined quite a few weeks into Eddie Baranowski's fitness programme

but it will be good to see him in action in due course, he looks fairly mobile and aware of the options round him

WB,

Did you read the posts above saying Kwasnik isn't in the squad ?

Covs is.

No, didn't see that - that's really disappointing.

I was sooo looking forward to Kwasnik taking it to the Mariners.

I know that it has been mentioned before but on Sun at 3.30pm why don't we all (at the backbencher) finish our pints and march, as one, down the concourse to the ring of fire? I am sure that other fans including the Thistle boys would join us.

Having attended a number of Scotland matches, throughout Europe, it is hard to beat the feeling of being part of a mass movement of fervent footy fans (such as the tartan army) singing their hearts out on the way to the big game.

Is anyone keen?

The mind is willing but the legs (and legless) are weak so it never, ever happened last year even with use of the megaphone!

Solution: Have someone walk along with a keg kart, pouring pre-paid-for beers (so the license agreement is not broken). The YF mob will form up behind out of necessity. The kart can then lead the whole lot of yuz down the road.

A piped piper keg cart  now that would look brilliant....of course it would have to stop at the stairs by the spiral because you can't bring alcohol onto Stadium grounds  just remember that if you do decide to have a mass walk in then expect to queue going through the turnstiles..maybe a mass walk in arriving at gates at 3.30 might be a better option?

I think Kwasnik is out cos he may not be fit enough yet?
I'm also wondering whether Ricki is thinking, as it's only been 3 weeks since he left the Mariners, maybe he is still fresh in their minds from training and will therefore be easy to target since they'll know his weaknesses.

Sigmund should start as right back!

Lia has had more time in training at right back, though. Gotta give him a chance first.

yea, you never know, i think he and lochhead will still be encouraged to get forward whenever possible.

I'll be very interested to see (well, hear) how Lia goes at right back. Defending didn't seem to be one of his strong points last season. But if he and Lochhead get cracking with those aggressive overlapping runs we could be in for some real excitement.

Lochhead will definitely be getting forward just as he did last season..
Anyone remember his cross into Smeltz for header which levelled first game vs Victory 2-2?

I'm pumped for this one. I hope El**ch trips over his own legs in the box and concedes a penalty from the resulting hand-ball. 3-0 to the NIX
