Re Perth's goal: from the replay it looked like Crowther was a metre off his line, then just before the kick was delivered he stepped forward another pace. A slight lack of judgement I think, as the ball went over his head.

The sort of minor adjustment that can mean the difference between a save and a goal for a keeper.

I was only a few rows from the front so their goal was difficult for me to see - didn't seem to show a replay on the screen either? It looked like Crowther was off his line or something??

edit - just seen StopOut's post now.

A bit disappointing to lose a goal like that but we haven't been too bad for goalkeeping errors this season...

Could have easily gone either way that game. So I'll take a draw in the end. 13 unbeaten is decent. Ref was poor. Thought the subs looked good, everyone else a little flat.

Can't wait for next game, test match at the Basin plus Phoenix at night, potential marketing tool for a big crowd. Plus Mossy's return if he hasn't been dropped by then.

i'd need to see a replay before being too sure about my judgements but in the interim

pleased to walk away with a point, "we've got the best crossbar in the league"

but if we had fired up earlier we could have sorted them out

Costa seemed to have trouble backing up, and they got away with a lot of fouls ( i lost all ability to view the f**ker with any rationality but i do think the ref it is at least possible that he was a shocker)

impressed with Iffy's ability/willingness to carry on after that knock

Caceres showed some nice touchs but he really doesn't seem ever likely to chase a ball

funniest moment Siggy's trench digger impression late in the 1st half

I thought Lia did well - partly because Timmo seemed to be straying a biot far forward

finally, it is real shame Greenacvre isn't 2  inches taller

oh and Dura should have shot!

Lia was poor today. His passing was atrocious.

Well Lia certainly made a couple ofbad passes which caught us, but I thought he was great for most of the game, won lots of balls, spread play well and was constantly in the action.

Brown was far more anonymous for me.

I thought it was great entertaining game, could have gone either way. Heaps more entertaining than much of the football played in the last couple of seasons.

Caceres looked lively but should have tucked the goal awayu - we were lucky Ifill got the rebound.

I think the Phoenix are headed well in the right direction, it all looks very positive for the future.

Actually happy with the draw in this one, though those last 10minutes were great, I thought we could easily have won it.

Dura was good again though with a coupla brain fades but then managed to make ammends. Lochy was pretty good, Caceres was outstanding when he came on. Didn't see much wrong with Vinny's game.

Ref was a tw*t.

yep, it was far from pretty at times but it had a few blood and thunder moments, my legs were shaking at the end and i figure my pulse was trucking along at  a fair clip during the last 25 mins or so

From what I saw of Perth's goal it looked like it went dead straight and Crowther was going the wrong way and couldn't re-adjust. Be interesting to see a replay.

Ok, maybe Lia was better than poor, but his passing was still crap.

Agree that Brown seemed somewhat invisible for a lot of the game.

Ref haters: it was his debut match so maybe he deserves a bit of slack. The decisions went both ways imo.

Siggy's yorker header was brilliant. Hardly remember the Perth goal, couldn't really see it. It just looked like it went straight down the middle and Crowther wasn't far from it.

Great to see Ricki respond so positively when we went 1-0 down.  We seemed to play 4-2-4 for the final 15 and it paid off.  Would hope that would put to bed the negative comments about his management style and that he doesn't know when and how to use his subs.

The one on Ifill was unforgivable IMO. A clear foul that any sane person would have given.

Seemed a pretty tired 70 minutes till we went behind and lifted with the help of fresh subs.  Good contribution from all three of them i thought to help the intensity and give impact.

i thought both Brown and Lia were guilty of giving away some easy turnovers and dura played well but did his usual couple of what-was-that efforts, otherwise pretty reasonable efforts all round.  just lacking a bit of fire after the two games before.

Quite good to see on a day where we seemed to be off colour, we still had the better of Perth.

Stats (don't always tell the story) suggest we were the unluckier of the sides to settle for a draw and doing that playing at a relatively low intensity till the last ten or so I thought.
10 shots to 5
5 on target to 2
11 corners to 1
55% possession

It'll be good for Jets to stay ahead or draw with Fury to keep us in 6th.

a bit dissapointed with the crowd size - 6,900 - even looked more than that and a bit low for a good Sunday evening and after some good results.

had to giggle at that siggy worm imitation

we had a good view of the perth goal - seemed to be well within crowther's reach - flapped at it a bit - like playing a cricket shot accross the line

Well done Ricki for brining on subs when we needed a boost. Great character to come back Phoenix :) I applaud you all.

Yeah his subs were excellent in my opinion. Perth were using the sideline to crowd Ifill and mark him out of the game,so bringing bertos on and putting ifill back in the middle was great. Then recognising the lack of effect greenacre and costa were making and bringing the other 2 on just as we needed some impact worked wonders.

to ricki on the substition front for a change.

The team looked very subdued today.

Ref was an absolute pillock. Worst ref performance so far, and that's saying something for the A-League.

Bertos and Caceres definitely added some momentum, I think it's time for Bertos to start again, I think Costa might get a rest for the next game.

Costa's decision-making and shots on goal were quite average.Ard Righ2009-11-08 20:43:52

This has been mentioned a few times before.
I saw Tim Brown walk on the park at the start of the game, and again at half time. Apart from the last 10 min. he was -- hiding-- again.
This guy is not good enough for the Nix, nevermind the AW's. He is just not good enough?

I think he's good for a few goals a season from midfield, but he doesn't seem to offer a whole lot else most of the time.

We'd miss the goals if he wasn't there but if we could find someone else who could provide the goals and ANYTHING else, then we'd be better off

Brown was nonexistent in the 1st half, yes. He came into the game a lot more in the 2nd half though to be fair.

thats a poor excuse, he lost control of the game and gave cards at the wrong times to the wrong people, burns should of be carded much earlier for persistent fouling. whoever smashed ifill should have been carded and how the hell Delaphi didn't get a card for time wasting after doing the same thing THREE times in a row is inexcusable

Massive credit (in a kind of tut tut way) to the guy who when Leo was bought down on the edge of the box and the ref didn't blow kicked his chair to pieces. Kicked it once and a big bit of yellow went flying but not quite happy with the job he had done had another go and destroyed the whole thing.

Even though he was kicked out shortly after to him I say well done!

The ref was pretty inconsistent but I thought he handled the players quite well.

RE Lia, wasnt good wasnt bad, did piss me off when he gave away theball on hal way and then just stood there asking for a foul when perth broke with 4 vs our 3 defenders

Easy to have a go at the ref--- he was poor. It is no wonder players get pissed off. The standard of refs for this league is a joke.

Bollox - He was a plank. I don't mind inconsistancies if they are for both sides but 21 for Perth was all over Durante for most of today and nothing was done about it, there was another Perth player who was giving it to Daniel and nothing was done. There was a lot of off the ball stuff going on and he ignored far too much of it. Today that referee copped a dose from the crowd and deservidly so. He was not playing both ways. Hopefully it'll be his last game.

How come the Nix seem to get the referees who are making their debuts? Why can't they be given to Sydney or to Melbourne?

Why don't the FFA employ former world number 1 rated referee - Mr Collina - to come down and train and work with the referees to improve their standard. Colin Todd summed it up last week when he saidf the A League was excellent and the refereees were very poor.

C'mon Nix!

How many of the fever still subscribe to the wearing of same clothes theory? Luckily the weather has been good so the clothing I worse on wednesday is good to go for today. Incidentally, the outfit is the same from gcu down to the socks.
I've worn the same shoes jeans shirt headphones and scarf for every home game this season, and things aren't going too badly

Next game I'll be mostly wearing my:

Mostly lucky Bandana,
Mostly lucky Phoenix City T (may swap with my somewhat lucky nix supporters polo)
Still mostly lucky scarf

Mmm i think he was a plank too,but not deliberately biased or anything as you seem to think (maybe just still fired up from the game ). He did give us some fouls etc,I think he was just generally terrible, and we happened to get the wrong end of his inconsistencies on the most part.

But yeah, drop him please. Train refs over the offseason.

Love the Nix publicity machine.

This from the website:

"A FAST-FINISHING Wellington Phoenix was held to a 1-1 draw by Perth Glory in an exciting Hyundai A-League 2009/10 encounter at Westpac Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

In the end the home side was unlucky not to take the full three competition points after peppering the visitors goal in the final minutes but denied by Perth custodian Tando Velaphi. The round 14 draw extended the home sides unbeaten run at home to 13 matches and kept them mid-table and well in the playoffs hunt"

Great word play because I'd have thought that Perf were held to a 1-1 draw and could have put us away a few times!

Good work nix PR - keep it up!!
