And moving right along, throwing that Brisbane game in the bin, this game this week is key. A loss could see us back in the basement, a win and we're right up there.

We'll have to step it up so much next week.  I hope Paston is back.

Probably. And if McKain's not ready, Mulligan may be on the bench.

Well, Muscat is looking at some lengthy time out of the game I suspect.

Hearfield to start, I think McKain might be on the bench, not sure how his fitness level would be for a starting spot.

Our midfield needs a shake-up too. I think Brown was run legless in the last few games.
Midfield was lacking a lot last night, definitely wasn't as commanding as they have been in previous rounds.

Paston needs to start. Even if he's on crutches. Crowther will do bad things for the blood pressure.

Wonder if we'll see Caceres or Diego in this match also. Caceres definitely shows more attacking intent, and Diego did no wrong in his last outing.

I think Muscat could be out for a while. McKain has loked sweet as in training but I still think Hearfield will start. I hope Siggy isn't put at RB.

Must say that despite 14 Nov only being two weeks back I'm really champing at the bit for the next Nix home game - it's a long time (almost a month if you go back to 8 Nov game).  Vocal chords in need of a decent work out.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Maybe :

                  paston                                               Crowther
durante Sigmund McKain lochhead                         Hearfield
                     Lia                                                 Caceres
                    Brown                                             Costa
Bertos                          Daniel
           Greenacre Ifill

Probably a bit risky against Melbourne but Durante could handle RB imo. Otherwise its hearfield and McKain bench. And if he's out then Diego bench. Except then there would be no defensive cover. Tricky call. Also tempted to start Caceres sometime

McKain isn't match fit.  It would be a huge call to ask him to walk back in to 90 minutes of football.

Sigmund is way better at RB. Durante would look like a muppet there.

And has anyone noticed Lochhead's inability to cover anyone else? Durante is always saving his arse down the left and he slowly strolls to full the gap in the middle.

The same non covering Lochhead who took the ball off someones toes right in front of goal to stop an almost certain goal ?

Yeah, I'd keep Dura in the middle.

Either Troy or Lia at RB, most likely Troy.

Our line-up has been nice and consistent for weeks, hence our string of good results. So, IMO, just Paston back plus Troy at RB.
Who gets the bench spot will be interesting.

Mini Marco.

Though we may want defensive cover, I guess Lia is able to cover defence.

5 against 4, it would have been a surprise to dominate.  Watch out for other A-League teams taking this as the way to tip Ricki's tactics.

True, but have a look at the second Roar goal?

The allegation that Lochhead never covers is proven false, I wasn't claiming he was perfect.

As for the ssecond goal, is that the one where DeVere clearly puts two hands to the back of Daniel on the ball and pushes him over ?

Even so it was a very ordinary piece of defending from Lochhead. Harsh to say, but that crucial loss of concentration cost us a goal at a time when I felt we were looking stronger and could possibly capitalise on some crappy Brisbane defending.

However I'm not a Lochhead hater like Leggy and think he has been good overall for us this season. All of the back four have had their off moments but the most important thing is how they are playing as a unit, and I've got little to complain about there.

Is this radio station owned by Austereo? Austereo stations (e.g. Fox FM In Melb and 2Day FM in Sydney) have Black Thunders as well.

If this radio station has 2 Aussie comedians called Hamish and Blake then it's a high chance that it's Austereo owned.

Fancy that, the 'Black Thunder' term is global!

I think the club is really short sighted in this.  They believe they have a "compelling value proposition" or some such bollocks.  Clearly only 7.5k of Wellington agree with them.

They have been turned off the idea of doing discounted tickets because the last time they offered that to everyone and halved their revenue (surprise surprise).

What we were proposing to them is:

1. Members (not everyone) get access to no more than two discounted (not free) match day tickets for friends.

2. The last three Wellington home games be offered as a ticket package for $50 or $60.

Initially they were keen, but after discussions internally they changed their mind.  Apparently a few ads on Classic Hits and a One Shot for Glory flag give away is going to do it.

We'll see.

Different perspective time boys, if there was a 'flow-on' effect from NZ's play-off game, shouldn't that naturally translate to a good crowd at this game? Does the club have to push to get 10,000?

Not a bad idea, but I'm throwing up this angle to it.

Yeah, its not like Durante has won the man of the match medal in the grand final playing right back.  Lochhead's two goal saving challenges on the weekend disagree with you, and unless someone else pulls wide and back which neither Bertos nor Daniel seem to do often, it is tough for either Muscat or Lochhead to cover the inside players.

Let's also not forget Crowther tripping over his own feet as he was coming out to cut down the angle.

A lot of things went wrong for that goal.
