I wouldn't be surprised if it's $40 here.

So is this a definite? Phoenix v Boca Juniors?
Melbourne prices look a tad prohibitive though. Who on earth would pay $90 for a friendly?!
Still, if it's $40 or so, I will go.

Seems about 90% likely from reasonable sources.

at the botom it says
"Boca's visit is part of a worldwide pre-season tour, which will also take in games in the United States, New Zealand - against Wellington Phoenix - and England."
so it looks like it is confirmed

Surely this is a piss-take?
I really hope NZ sporting public comes to the party if it's true and Terry makes some much needed cash. I'm certainly going to be travelling up. Man my boss must be getting so sick of me getting time off but too bad. Can't wait!

It's a massive coup, but, and i do believe its big but,
Will the average Joe Blogs know of Boca Juniors, no. Unless really well advertised and marketed this has the potential to be a massive failure.
Still, i hope to proven wrong.

the match is scheduled for a fortnight after the WC final. If Argentina get to at least the Semi finals then there will be a extra level of incentive.
Also the football at the end of last year had a kind of "7's" feel to it, as it was brining people in who were coming because it was also a huge party on top of a sporting event.
Likely to happen again this time.
I'm predicting 25k minimum attendance.

good point re the (possible) Argentinian hype, ad agencies (well, the lone copy-writer working on the small contract variation) could have fun with the Maradona image/persona

that is amazing to hear! Decending again on the Ring of Fire in July!

Holy crap im excited. If this is true, i am so there. The likes of Palermo and Riqulme make me so excited. Don't know if palermo would take part because of WC, but if Riquelme comes then I will be over the moon! He's one of my favs of all time.
Hopefully he chooses to stay for a bit as our marque??
but maybe we could pitch a deal for one of their other playmakers?? Would be a good market and a good chance to negotiate?

A small town in Europe........looking to bounce straight back up....well that aint going to happen

is it definitely going to be played in wellington?
slightly risky as Boca dont have anywhere near the profile here of an average Prem Side, and we dont have big south american communities like Melbourne.

I bet they're going to love discovering what Wellington is like in July. Maybe they could train at Karori Park?

It is weird that the Aussie media has reported they are playing here, against the Nix, and neither our media or the Phoenix website has anything. I don't want to get my hopes up until it's confirmed!

Boca Juniors was the fifth football club in the world to have its own TV channel, opened in 2003. Boca TV broadcast 24 hours a day, featuring sports programs and talk shows.
There is a line of Boca coffins available for dead fans, as well as the official Boca's cemetery.

Another of Boca Juniors' products is the Boca Wine.
