Ricki needs to recharge his batteries and get tough with his squad. No more Mr Nice Guy Ricki. Phoenix are entering the business end of the season and they need WINS. No more draws or defeats. Play like u mean it. Man up or i'll take yr man card away.

Another season out of the top 6 = Failure

Heffernan wont be playing against us because he's been called up for the Socceroos game against Kuwait. Is an injury replacement for Culina.

Good news. Heffernan has been playing very well lately.

An even bigger loss is Vukovic (also on international duty) - he's been easily the best 'keeper in the league this season.

He's young (20) and hasn't played much (just 4 games in 3 seasons I think) because Vukovich has a mortgage on the goalkeeper's jersey, but he's highly rated and has played several under-20 internationals.

EDIT: And quite a big lad - 6 foot 5.

I'm Watching sydney v adelaide and sydney hve good chants. one seems to be the phoenix ones or is there no copy right on chants?
Permalink Permalink

lol @ copyrights on chants

Pretty much every chant in the A-League has been copied from somewhere else (which is fine)

And slightly off tpic but the f troop run down to behind the goal on the bank and take there tops off n the later stages of the game.

No Vukovic
No Boogaard
No Heffernan

All means very very good for us. They'll be weak on defence (which has been there hallmark this season) so a great opportunity to score some goals (Ifill & Bertos i'm looking at you two)

Who is going to ref this fixture?

Don't worry, all A-league refs are consistently inconsistent.

how many times have we had breeze this season? Is it perhaps he was starting to be fair against us that he's had few games? Wjy7 do we seem to cop the debutants?

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Daniel pulled up lame at training today and Lochy was icing a hamstring when they finished as well.  Greenacre still a week away,

How's my driving? - Whine here

And Johnnie Chen was nowhere to be seen, nor was Ferrante, nor were the two keepers, and Mulligan is still sh*t.

Poor Mulligan. If the club is struggling then then need to release players that dont actually get any GAME TIME = MULLIGAN. If fact Mulligan should be looking some place else for game time.

Just a wee stat for you....if you count last season's Pre-Season Cup clash between these two sides, the Phoenix haven't conceded a goal against CCM in their last five meetings.

I feel sorry for Mulligan.
Looking at the match day pictures on the Phoenix website, he is just consigned to putting on a suit and tie an entertaining the kids pre-match.

Doesnt even get to play any reserve team games or any NZFC or even central league. It must be soul destroying.

Its difficult to see what the attraction of being a Phoenix fringe player is. Youngsters like Barbourouses surely need time on the pitch at any standard, and they are not getting it. When I was his age, I was playing competitive games 2,3, 4 times a week, ok not at that level , but I was learning what football was all about.

Bertos your challenge should you except it..is to be Ronaldo for rest of the season and WC 2010

Malapropism alert: you meant accept, not except.

Frankly, I'd settle for Leo being Ronaldinho.  (This year's version.)

Has Jonnie Chen gone for good? Seen a few people say he hasn't been at training for a couple of weeks now.
