Lia has been superb in midfield for us for the last three games, why on earth would you change that ?

I think Lia has played well irrespective of position on the field. Just saying I'd prefer him there over Hearfield, if it came down to that option.

He hasn't made a squad yet this season, but they have injury issues if they don't sign cover tomorrow.

Yeap I agree with moving Lia to RB if Manny couldnt play. hes been great in midfield but I would much rather have him at RB than have Hearfield there. Pls three points this week nix

I think Troy could do a reasonable job at right back - i think he's matured significantly this season

i wonder though if Ricki will be tempted to get Mully on the park, either this game or later (for All Whites reasons)

this game would be a little more credible, with Manny's presumed unavailability

I wouldn't rule out seeing Mully at some stage, but I would be VERY surprised if we see him at Right back.  He's wasn't even playing there against TeeDubs the other week.

I think that is a ship that has sailed.

He made his name playing as an attacking midfielder at U17 and then U20 level while a youngster at Barnsley (with Plodder, Allan Pearce and Super Leo) and then has wandered around the UK lower leagues playing in midfield or at times at Righ Back.

His displays at Right back for the Phoenix and the All Whites haven't been convincing but he has shown glimpses when played in midfield.  There is some suggestion that he has an attitude 'issue' but that is just conjecture.

He's been named in a 17-man squad for this game (two to be omitted), so could make the bench.....

Caceres listed as injured on the Fantasy A-League site.

But in other news, Kruse is out injured this week also

I like Scottishbhoys ideas line-up and formation. Might be a bit light in the center of the park though? I agree with the Ifill role and think Chen should get some game time but will probaly come off the bench

Are you sure? My understanding is that he's spent most of his UK career at right back. I haven't seen him play there, but reports usually identified him as a defender.

Interestingly the TAB have the Fury at $2.20 to win, followed by draw at $3 and the mighty 'Nix at $3.20. Phoenix to NOT lose is paying $1.65

I still think we are much more convincing than the Fury. The two-week break between games will help our non-AWs to freshen up, particularly Greenie and Ifill. Hopefully either or both find the back of the net, because we haven't scored since about the 6th minute of the first Fury game. 84 scoreless minutes, and then two 0-0s.

IMHO Ifill needs to have  a Culina role inbehind the two front men. Chen needs ago too, surely he can't be that sh*t?

of course Daniel and Bertos cruise down the wings. Ifill Drifts from side to side up and down everyf**knwhere. We need a creative link he is the man to do so imo

scottishboy that's a squad stright out of football manager.  How would that actually work in practice?  No-one there can really pass the ball, two of your midfield don't defend...it's really unblanaced

My understanding was the Mulligan was a right back at sc**thorp and vale, pretty much since he left Barnsley

The Ifill story photos look like penalty practice.  Does that mean we are going through the middle???

The 15 man squad has a look of containment rather than attack about it...not many options if Daniel  Leo and Ifill dont/cant deliver or fade. Will watch Chen with bated breath...

A small town in Europe........looking to bounce straight back up....well that aint going to happen

?
We are playing our 3+1 forward, and then have a centre mid, a right wing/right wing back and a forward up front.

I guess if you focus on us being defensive enough anything can look containing.

ok so squad looks like there will be no suprises. I think Costa hasnt proven himself so its a great call to bring up Chen. Suprised they didnt travel another extra defender if muscat is a chance to miss. Maybe even give Mulligan a chancde to impress. Not liking the idea of Ferrante off the bench to be honest

Hasn't done much wrong or be given much of a chance either...didn't set the world on fire, but having a look at our results no one has in front of goal...don't know if dropping him for Chen is a fair call, but the guy at least deserves a look I guess. I still want to see Costa get a greater chance...but it is harder for him, because he wouldn't be under the wing anymore like he was last season.
