I don't think McKain is going to be back for this one, expect him to be another couple of weeks away... and even then, I wouldn't put him in the starting team personally unless Siggy or Brown need a rest after the Bahrain game..

I would like to see the same line up as last week, its only a matter of time before they click and destroy someone.. although i have been saying this for a while and its yet to eventuate!

Newspaper says that next weekend the rest of the nix will be playing Manawatu so that the "fringe players" can hit the back of the net.

Possibly might see more of the young 'uns after all the jet-setting by the nix AWs.

IMHO Ifill needs to have  a Culina role inbehind the two front men. Chen needs ago too, surely he can't be that sh*t?

of course Daniel and Bertos cruise down the wings. Ifill Drifts from side to side up and down everyf**knwhere. We need a creative link he is the man to do so imo

not guna happen scottishbhoy

it'll be an unchanged lineup/formation depending on injuries etc

why change a performing side? Only possible change would be to give costa a start up front since we aint banging them in. Even then i cant see that happening.

Ifill needs to either stay in his position, or he should be a midfielder.

You mean a player who drifts out of games when the pressure is on and only ever passes sideways or backwards ?

Sounds logical. I mean, its not like he's playing well in his current position or anything...

Chen could be capable but still not ready for reasons of fitness, language, or whatever.  The best course is to give him a start off the bench - but we really don't have the information to know if that's viable at the moment.  Regardless of Chen's readiness to play, 4-4-2, flat or diamond, is a pipe dream for this squad.  4-2-3-1- is a fine shape, so long as the team gets the proper instructions.

Expect the game to be similar to what happened in the home fixture.  Pretty physical, but played without malice.  The Phoenix shouldy defend well and edge possession, but be poor going forward with only a couple of real chances.  NQF's main threat is their determination - Fury fans will have their fingers crossed at corners and free kicks, but Herbert's men are starting to look more confident and organised when defending set pieces.

I'm going to go out on a limb and pick the Phoenix to win 1-0, with Greenacre picking up a long overdue goal courtesy of a defensive blunder.

I do think the idea of giving Ifill a role behind two strikers would work, but we dont have a quality striker to justify dropping one of Brown / Lia

Exactly..  Lia has been bloody good as well, it could be a big mistake dropping him (or Brown) if it were to happen

Not saying hes not playing well but are you blind to the fact that in 9 games the Phoenix have scored 8 goals in 9 games and of those 9 games 6 have been draws? Something tells me we aint scoring goals bcause they are not creating clear cut chances due to a lack of creation in the park. Which is my point in putting Ifill inbehind the front two as a creative link.

Also, can someone tell Bertos to pass after a big run instead of shooting?

Daniel, What is your suggestion to easing the goal scoring problem, and let's be honest.. it is a problem.

Culina can be a quality player, but when your team is being dominated in midfield you need to put a foot on the ball and create something, but when that happens to GCU or the Socceroos all he looks for are those balls.

He's the marquee, he's meant to be the man creating the chances but he fades out of matches hugely when there is pressure on him.

Sideways and Backwards are fine if you have other options but he very rarely does when there is pressure om him, all it is is sideways and backwards.  When half your salary is being paid to a player, sideways and backwards isn't what you need from them.

Culina is only as good as those around him. If he played for an U10 side he wouldn't outshine them.

Faircall, but he has the potential to rip this league to shreds wouldn't you agree?

I'm not convinced.  I think he's one of those players who plays down to the level of those around him and I think he made a very foolish call leaving dutch football to come back to Aus.

He'll be lucky to keep his spot for the world cup the way he and GCU are travelling.

Oh I agree with that, he should of never come back here. I don't get why you'd leave one of the best dutch sides or dare I say one of the ebtter European sides to come to what in reality is a nothing league. He should of taken Pim's warning in not coming back.

Costa is NOT the answer.
Just to be clear, i believe the 'answer' is to leave our lineup alone, was just trying to predict what ricki might do if he feels the need for change.

Personally i like our lineup as it is, in it's current formation. It aint broke, so dont fix it. We're playing well, the goals will come. If they don't, and we start playing badly and losing, then start changing it up and trying new things. Wholesale personnel/formation changes now are not the 'answer' - although im not sure what the 'question' is...?

The question is how to create chances where we will score goals.

Get off the grass.  If you really want to take that route, then (just taking an example from what you've written in this thread) all commentary about the quality of players should be off-limits for similar reasons.
