If the phoenix can win and there is some good marketing going on then the Phoenix could get a big crowd off the back of the AWS hype..
When is the next game? Would be nice to see 15-20k there

ive got a song that wont take long, Adelaide are rubbish.. the second verse is same as the first.. ADELAIDE ARE RUBBISH

Big numbers away at Napier U-19's though, and long weekend so some whanau's away.

Less likely to get travelling visitors as well as they are all planning on being here for the 14th.

I agree that the GCU game could be boosted by footballs extra media attention lately. Lets just hope we can whip Fowler & co 6-0 and really emphasize the whole return of Smeltz thing.

Does Radio Sport cover Phoenix games, and are they likely to cover this one?  There won't be a TV where I'm going to be, but the AM radio might just work.  Though the kick-off itme might be a bit late

I had a look at the Radio Sport page on football, but it seems the whole league has been replaced with a compatition called the 'ANBL'.  http://www.radiosport.co.nz/GameCalendar/?id=2404

Yeah, Stefanutto. I think another one got injured too. They will, however, have Ufuk Talay back. He didn't play against us last time and he is far and away their best creative player (even though he is a diving cheat)

Yeah, I was toying with the idea of jumping in the car and haring down from Napier but, as my mob are playing Wharfies at midday, I'll probably be dealing with injured players instead!!

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

They are talking about one possibly two players in by the weekend as defensive cover.  With Steffanuto, Dodd and now Wilson all long term injured they've got no backs apart from Tambouras.

Rumour was Jade North running home from Korea with his tail between his legs but it was just rumour.

Stuck in a car with a very drunken Greene for the best part of 3 hours. Hmm.....

So this will be at 10.30 on Friday night our time.

It's an ideal time for us to be playing up north, our All Whites at least will be used to the hot conditions having just been in Bahrain.

North Queensland Fury v Wellington Phoenix, Townsville, 11pm (Commentary)

Looking good for you.

Thanks you Sanday - I didn't know to look there.  Now it's a question of staying up...

Bevan - it's on Saturday, not Friday, but yes, our boys will be more used to the warmth that usual.  Wonder if they considered flying straight to QLD instead of coming back here (you'd think so given the rough weather we've been having - I swear it's almost snowing here. Long may that last  - until the 14th of Nov anyway)

I'm coming down for this one! My first time so thoroughly looking forward to it. Would be nice to have a big crowd.

It is important we win this just to stay in touch with the upper part of the  League.

looks like "Johnny" Cheng will get some game time this week. I have a minor concern with the potential use of Hearfield at right back if muscat doesn't come back ready to play after his games for Malta this week.

tbh i would rather have Mulligan at RB than Hearfield because i don't rate Hearfield.

Bahrain last weekend & still recovering (not from jet lag - from alcohol related scrapes). Townsville this weekend. Who else is going?

This could be a really close game. Fury have turned out to be not such a bad side. Their record is won 1, drawn 5.....quite close to our record. Away up in Townsville is tough. It will be around 30 degrees and 100% humidity. The AW phoenix players will have had the experiance of heat in Bahrain but it could be tough for the others.

I think our defense will be tough to break down but its up to our strikers to do the business....I mean you Mr Greenacre. You are overdue for a goal. Hopefully Ifill will be back to 100% fitness.

I actuallt think Mulligan is worth another shot. Im definitely not the chairman of his fanclub, but he did play reasonably well in preseason so perhaps he should feature on the bench? He's also been training in this humidity too

Like I've previously said, Mulligan will never play for the Phoenix again unless a disaster of biblical proportions strikes us.

The guy is just pants.

Lia to RB if Manny can't start. And then open up another spot in midfield, since we have an abundance of unused midfield players at the moment.

Lia has been superb in midfield for us for the last three games, why on earth would you change that ?

From wikipedia, look up 'mulligan'.

A mulligan, in a game, happens when a player gets a second chance to perform a certain move or action. The practice is also sometimes referred to as a "do over."

I don't rate him however.

Yup totally. Whether we will or not is another question, though.

Agreed. he should go back to britain like Steve Old and try his luck there. Maybe those players just suit that style better? I don't know.
