Wouldn't expect him to deliver miracles, though. Just glad Ricki has woken up to the fact that we need to give these guys a run because we may be in dire need of strikers/potential goal scorers next year. Also the fact that we lack pace (apart from Bertos and Gao at times)

So now we have Costa in the squad I guess the bench will look something like this - Moss, Ferrante/Coveny, Mckain/Daniel, COSTA COSTA BARBAROUSES!!!
Oska2008-10-29 19:54:07Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet
Is there a particular reason that the Nix are the only team too scared to give the youths a run?
He picked it.
Last season the only player younger than Costa to get regular game time in the whole league was Tsatallios from Sydney. Al the other 'youth' were generally 12 months older than him, as are most of those playing anything close to regular football this season.
To say we were the only ones who don't play youth doesn't remotely take in to account the fact that in the main we have had a fit squad and most of the youth getting a chance are cover for injured older players.
Also Costa plays in a position where we already have significant resources in Daniel, Leo, Gao, Kwasnik (even Mulligan or Smeltz at a pinch).
Yeah but Coveny is a lemon.
.
About time the lad has been named in the squad - what have we got to lose? Rip em up Cos

Good points. Also the fact that NZ players are arguably further behind in development compared to Australian players as NZ players do not have access to facilities like the AIS etc. + decent quality leagues like the VPL.
Still, he looked quite good from what we saw against CCM at the end of last year and I am suprised he hasn't gotten a go yet. Guess Ricki see's him everyday though and he would know if he was up to it yet.

Pffttt that's why when I put my squad in I picked Draper not Costa, coz Greg is more of an out and out striker.

I don't want to see this turn into another 'who is more worthy, Greg vs Costa' thread, which it seems in danger of... they both offer something different to the team I feel, Costa as a fast wide player, and Greg as a strike partner for Smeltz. Draper doesn't have the hype (and lets face it, it is a hype really) around him that Costa does, but I don't think that means he is any less worthy of a place in the squad... he has seen gametime in the U20 WC, the Olympics and the A-league, he has been receiving good reviews from Nix training (unfortunately living in PN I'm unable to give any of my own), and he scored two goals against HBU in the most recent Nix 'reserve team match'. I feel he is just as worthy of a place in the side as Costa is. In saying that I hope we see good things from Costa this weekend, and hope to see similar from Greg soon.
I hope that made some sense, and didn't bring us closer to GD vs CB.Absolutely Zero times.....I havent been given any opportunity too....and I cannot attend training as I live out of Wellington, I do come down for every home game though...
I am just going from what I have heard about him, I just called for Draper over Costa because he is an out and out striker, we have millions of options in midfield....and I think Cov's is letting us down...
Don't get me wrong, I am absolutely DELIGHTED to see Costa in, I hope he turns it on on SUnday!

, you are rather thin skinned bopman, and a little insolent.
ive got a song that wont take long, Adelaide are rubbish.. the second verse is same as the first.. ADELAIDE ARE RUBBISH
, o.m.g. maybe both on the field at the same time, Draper in for the old man and Costa for a half-arsed midfielder.
