Frustrating as hell! dure weather, dure crowd and a dure game. Seemed like we were just hitting a hoping half of the time. Also, Caseres played crap. Greenacre needs to be there to keep a structure.

f**k off, he was one of, if not the best on the team.He actually had some testicles and shot a couple of times. We can't say that about anyone else in our team. He created a lot of space and was not afraid to run at SYD.

oh and FYI - he name is Caceres.

Can't agree with you there, whooo. He had one good shot, yes, but he had many poor touches and his control and passing was extremely sub standard.

mate the whole team had poor touches (especially brown, lia) the whole team had poor passing and finishing.

Caceres played better than the restl imo.

Well, a few things that ruined this game as any sort of decent spectacle.

Firstly, FMG Stadium is arse for sports, there is no cover from the wind, and it pretty much dictated the way the ball was going in the air.

Secondly, the referee and his assistants were below f**king average tonight. They were 100% completely f**king arse.

Third, if the FFA doesn't give Brosque a number of weeks for his 100% simulation that caused us to go behind early in the game, then they are a f**king joke.

Lastly, what the f**k was up with our team trying to always play the ball in the air, in the worst windy conditions I've witnessed them play football in?
The fact they continued to mindlessly play the ball in the air, combined with their f**king sh*t passing tonight, meant they were never a chance.

i am wondering the same thing. Blowin a gale but Crowther persists to bomb the ball in the air ??? he needed to kick it flat and he would have made a lot of distance.

Agreed about Brosque. Pulling the shirt off McKain before they got near the box, then duly did the swan dive. Very poor this wasn't picked up by ref or lino.

This game was like watching a car smash happening in slow motion....you know whats going to happen ,,,and just had to watch as it unfolded. All week the vibes have been bad....Muscat out,Siggy suspended, Paston's broken leg, Durantes flu. This was one game I thought we were not going to win.
The big question now is does this team have the balls to pick up the scraps and unite together and turn things around. 1 point out of the last 9 is crap...this team is better than that. What is plainly obvious is we are not up there in terms of quality with melbourne, sydney etc

I don't think we can turn it around with the current personel. We are short in quality strikers, we are short of a midfield playmaker, we are short of quality goalies. I'm not sure we can make the top 6. This is really depressing....not making the top 6 in a ten team comp is pathetic.
I feel sorry for all the fine people of PN who came out in their thousands to see such crap.

Agreed - it wasn't flash... and as for that pitch - it looked like a whole pile of stock cars had driven all over it last week.... perhaps they had.

why we don't use common sense at times though was the most frustrating - too much play in the air with that wind!!!!

Arrgggghhhhh...

The big plus though was that we didn't have to see Gould on the pitch (sorry gouldie)

Just got home.....

sh*t stadium with sh*t quality seat that were like a filled in potty, sh*t friggen Stock car fence blocking your view, sh*t quality written all over the place. This game was a very sad joke. I dont know who won the toss but I would have played with the wind in the second half. Crowther had the sun in his eyes for 30 mins of it too. Oh and what was with the slopping pitch?? Was watching several passes along the line deviate out through natural curves, not player skill or lack  of. As for the wind and us continually and insistantly playing the high ball, WTF? Definately along the ground stuff needed tonight.

What was it with the local hoes? Continuously wandering around in front of the seating nearly the whole damn game. Why did they bother showing up?? Never ever agfain should we play a game there. I'd rather travel to Napier.

Now the good news. Great turn out by the Nix fans. Yu gave a good account despite the voices being lost to the awesome stand in front of you. Oh and What the f**k is a wind turbine doing in a sports ground??

We had dinner over at the "Nightflyer". I recommend the "Massive" sized pizza. $25.00 gets you this beauty. HN, you'd be proud me and Jnr Gunman knocked it over in just over half an hour!....and a bowl of wedges!!

Pretty lively zone tonight. Bit uncoordinated at times but certainly enthusiastic.

PHC's megaphone was hysterical.

So was Coops.

However the chant highlight for anyone not there was undoubtedly:

Oh Palmy North
Is a Sh1t Hole
...
It's got gangs, bogans and teen mothers
Oh Palmy North is a sh1t hole.

And so it is.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Go on, let it all out

I think we could make it when the first team is running around. Problem is now, will we see the top team together again? Paston out for season so there's no chance there. Better chance with Siggy back but I'm not missing Muscat, Hearfield more than capable and at times better. Lia's gone for a game so in comes who? Going to have to be Ferrante.
Season has gone pear shaped

The difference between us losing and winning was not the distance the Crowther could kick the ball or how he did it. We were impatient and the midfield needed to find another way to get the ball to Ifill and that joke... Did anyone else recall De Jong's comment about how Nicole Kidman will entice the 'old men' of Fifa to give Auz the W.C. The steriotype that all old men are horney bastards.

We are also short in player height, having one of (if not) the shortest squad in the A League, yet we persist in playing the high ball and crosses to which we ciontinually get beaten to in the challenge.

going by the amount of traffic coming home I'd say tonight there was a majority from Wellington.

For me it was the sh*ttest Nix game I have seen. It was like they were trying to play f**king hacky sack. Hester f**ked me off too...never had control of the game, and was inconsistant as anything.

Daniel frustrated me aswell, thought he should've gone off instead of Caceres.

Ifill had no chance tonight. played on his own until Costa came on, and funny enough they were better from then on.

tonight was amateur at best!!!

thank god it only cost $40 gas return. be fuming if I had a guzzler.

No comment on the venue,
Agree officials had some very poor calls.
Having just seen the replay several times, Brosque should certainly be had up for simulation, he was pulling on McKain's shirt and using that as a pivot to dive as McKain goes behind him...some contact on his leg but he got his foot down then dived....do you think the panel will nail him?? highly unlikely.
Heartily agree about the wind too
The opportunity to bombard the Sydney goal with wind-assisted rockets from the left side went begging all first half.

Awful trip in almost all respects - what a crap place, stadium, game, officiating, team performance, team tactics, result, long trip there and back etc etc.  Felt more like an away game to me. About the only enjoyable bit was seeing LG and co demolish that ginormous pizza in the pub before the game - the 2 blokes managing to eat most of it on their own!

I want to see this penalty.  Looked on youtube and couldn't find anything.  Will look a bit later.  I hope the panel rules on it for simulation.  How many games out would it be?  Is it just a retro-spective red card?

Hey all,
Tonight was the first time I've gone to a Phoenix match (was great they made the effort to come to the grey wastelands of the Palmy, though I wouldn't blame the team if they didn't want to visit again haha), and yup a disappointing result for sure. Still, really enjoyed the experience and the Yellow Fever was fantastic.

Winds were pretty gusty which was always going to make things interesting but definitely not the highest standard of the play. The keeper certainly had some eccentric moments but made some good saves. Thought the ref was a bit average but of course they always are when your side loses :) Still reckon we could have nicked it at the end, had enough corners and the red card was a boost but never mind...

Still the team won a fan tonight (just watched em casually on the TV previously), and I'll have to get down to Welly to see the true Phoenix home ground. Frustrating night tho...

Meh. I wouldn't say it was simulation... McKain did clip his feet as he came across. However, I think that Brosque was pulling his shirt ridiculously and the foul should have gone the other way before McKain even kicked him. Terrible performance and game though. El-Kun2009-12-13 08:39:21

Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

I've said it once and i'll say it again. Dewhurst and De Jong are the worst commentators I have ever heard in my entire life. They both ramble on about sh*t (especially De Jong) and are so bloody negative and pro aussie. Its truely painfull listening to them.

Thankfully I don't have to hear them.

On the game, dreadful game, enjoyed the bus ride though (cheers Smithy).

Not sure if the Fever sounded great, cause in the middle of it it sounded like we were out of time, starting different chants at the same time etc. But it was pretty noisy.

Worst game I have ever seen! why was Lia left on the field? Does Ricki know that Diego is an attacking midfielder, why was he not used?! we would have had a slightly better chance of actually scoring a goal or setting one up than most of the players on the field last night.  But we prob still would not have scored, was horrible to watch.

Yeah good point although Ricki has never been good at knowing the right time to sub players on and off and who for. Diego should of come on for Lia maybe.
