no forearm..bull u tongue out of smeltz and bertos u w**ker..
Yup you got me, I've been singing Smeltz praise that whole game.
Watch the replay. Forearm to the head. If you really can't see that, get your eyes test. Its as plain as Troys balls across your nose.
For what its worth, your mate was having a blinder then f**ked up and not just f**ked up, major brain explosion f**ked up. in light of that, the next best person for me was Bertos. Where was Ferrante again???? 3rd game in a row invisible??

Hearfield should have recieved yellow/red from the forearm on Brosque, you can hardly call what Hearfield did later on a head butt, but never the less you can't do it, in my books that would have been a second yellow, plus a yellow for Brosque.
Fair's fair, maybe Mr. Williams should be repremanded from FFA as example to other refs to pay attention 100% of the time.
Also, what was the drop ball for after the Bertos corner?

i think we have probably done as well as our aqbility will let us..that goes for both players and coaching staff..will reserve judgement on the management until we see the results of their recruiting this summer although seeing both moss and smeltz head off is not a great look however unavoidable...did we miss siggy today..seems to me he is the dude to build the spine of the team around
He does seem to have that talisman effect. I'm not sure I'd build around him as he is 30 at the end of his contract and has stated he'd like to try play in Australia

Hearfield will get a long ban I can see the Head-push and that incident in the box that brought Brosque down.
the incident in the first half was nothing..send off was soft..1 week is all..
The incident in the first half was the more serious of the two. And being missed by the officials, it is likely that the FFA will deal with it post-match - being the usual procedure. The sending off was indeed soft, but it still counts as violent conduct.
I doubt we will see Troy be allowed to play again this season unless we manage to sneak into the playoffs.

Well on a different note Moss had a pretty poor game lucky his stuff ups in the first half didn't lose us the game early on.

Yes, we played like ass, but anyone denying that giving the other side an extra man is not a huge disadvantage in the biggest game in the season for us is just being an apologist. You could see it on his face that Heartfield new he did wrong, why can't the rest of you admit it?

watching Victory- Melbourne game , great stuff ,passion ,skill, excitement just what you want in a football game total contrast from prior game ,wish our attacking philosophy was as flamboyant as the club owner!
The answer to life's problems are rarely found at the bottom of a beer glass - but it's always worth a look.

Brown, Bertos and Manny worked hard. Daniel could have been more direct, and was disappointed with Smeltz tonight - didn't seem to be switched on. I thought Ferrante and Lochhead were ineffective and agree with Feverish, our set-plays should be more threatening than they are.
Now was the time to take some risks and I think we sold ourselves short by not going for an all out assault from the off. Attacking formation with attacking players. That was the biggest disappoint for me. We'll bounce back - hopefully.

Oh yeah. I was thinking 18 months away but its actually 2.5 years.
Maybe it is worth exploring. I'm waiting for Dewhurst and Billy Harris to say that maybe Smeltz needed the likes of a Ben Totori alongside him... or whomever next year....
The Colonel played like a donkey today too..

sh*te game. hearfeild certainly is not to blame but it defintely was a turning point in the match. is it possible that been williams may have looked at the replay of hearfield pulling brosque, or have been told about the incident at half time?
move on to next game shell we
and is it actually true about joel porter being signed to gold coast? gives me more reason to hate them now.

I can only think of two specific Moss incidents? I recall one mistake in the first, where he failed to collect a shot and McFlynn handled it into the net to get a booking. The only other thing I remember was at the other end of the scale when he saved well from a free kick. What did I miss?

I must admit I was waiting for WPF to say something when I saw it.
The first one was a bad bounce but I would expect Moss to have taken that and it was disappointing.
As for the save.... jesus christ does he have a cape on under that shirt or maybe he was Mr Fantastic from the Fantastic Four with those rubber stretchy extend arms?

games a game we lost big deal at least next season we should be certain top four unless we do no signing over the next 6 months BRING ON ADELAIDE!!!!!!!

Gents, boys... some of the lanuguage used on this thread is pretty embarrassing....just think " would i want this printed in the dominion the next day?" before you type....i can understand the angst at the loss and the ramifications of it but leave your shoes at the door...
ps on the game... dissapointed at decision to select Ferrante... onely made an appearance when we went a man down. Smeltz was quiet but was marked out of the game... Lockhead would make my worst A League 11 of the week with that performance...
I agree with one of the posts earlier... that performance summed up the team.. lots of guts but little or no creativity and patchy execution....
Still, all in all they have done well given the resources they have and the season isn't over yet..

I think it was for that header the player took after it was taken though you are right about it being a part-time job. Can someone tell me the difference between Paul Scholes recent red for his hand ball and McFlynns?
EDIT: Sorry it was a second yellow not a straight red.wellyphoenixfan2009-01-11 23:21:41

Haven't seen Scholes one, but McFlynn tried to score a goal, not stop one.

I cant be bothered starting the thread but i think the line up for next week will be fascinating
Assuming that those injured today stay injured, and it isnt easy to recover from a hammie in a week, we could have out injured
Siggie, Durante, Kwasnik
And Hearfield will be gone, for the red and for the earlier indiscretion
Leaves us looking a bit thin
Costa's chance to shine?? Daniel to start?? Covs out of retirement??

Have to agree about Lochhead. Where has that boy's head been all this season? I'm amazed he wasn't dropped, and can only figure there isn't a suitable replacement. Needs a good shake up, and reminding of what is required of him on the park.
