We know the lads can get a result in Sydney, they are ripe for the taking and we're desperate for the three points. Time us fans sent them all a message of support and strength in numbers!

Go the Wellington Phoenix!!
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Dodd had a pretty poor game so I expect Dura to come back in however I would like Brown as captain again.
Dodd? He did not!
First the Paston thing now this... As others have said his freekicks and passing were pretty bad and for the first goal he was out of position (off-side trap) but it depends if you want to blame Moss or Dodd for that. Personally I think we lack a defensive leader in the back 5(including the keeper) even when Durante plays. I believe the keeper as he has a clear view of the back 4 should make sure they are all in the right position but thats just my opinion.

Dodd was quality!!! I'd rather him than Durante, although Durante was playing pretty well and making some important tackles. Dodd was absolutely immense against the Mariners a few weeks ago, but maybe thats because their forwards are more physical? Maybe Durante would be better suited to this game, though.

Anyway, as has been said, 3 points is an absolute must, especially given the tough fixtures coming up. Is it Mariners vs Queensland this weekend as well?

Dodd has been one of our most consistent players since day 1, but I thought he did look ropey against the Jets.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Remembering that we didn't have Dura for our past two games against them and our Defense was pretty solid in both encounters.

I remember 2 of those important tackles that he made against Queensland too - a yellow card and a goal came after each.

But in all honesty I prefer Durante in the middle because I feel he is more solid but at this point, all 3 centre backs are performing at a great standard and I don't feel nervous with any of them

Sounds to me like Ricki will be setting out, first and foremost, to not lose. Seems to be the way we have playing for the last few weeks really.

Banna skin game ... you should win this ...Sydney on their knees .. nothing to play for but pride..no pressure ... new owners coming all players off contract and coach under pressure to hold their jobs.

Never easy to win ... when you should... when up against a team playing for pride and nexts years contracts.

I see Ricky is saying that the play will be less flambouyant in the next few games!! Hmm that'll be interesting!

If we don't want to lose we could do 5-4-1 with 3 CBS and 2 wing backs although because we haven't done it before it could be abit risky.

Our players already sit way too deep and putting five across the back will just confuse things and we'll get into the defensive scenario even easier.

Oh ok just an idea but if we don't want to lose that means we probably want to be more defensive.

Can still play 4 at the back but we just have to defend higher up the pitch than we have done in the last couple of games. I still think he'll go 4-2-3-1.

to be honest at this stage I don't care much about HOW we play. The points have to be our main concern. An ugly win is still a win. Of course, if the team played like vs Perth or vs Newcastle (1st half) every week we would probably get pretty pissed off, but since that's not the case, I am happy to watch 3 boring games in a row if that means play-offs!

What makes you think we won't play the same in the semis if it means we win?

Guys, we need to win, a draw is not an option. Nail this and then Melbourne and Adelaide may deaccelerate a tad, and allow us in before they push hard for the playoffs.

Who knows much Sydney want it, but we must not settle for a draw, once we are ahead, then it's closing shop time.

We can't close shop with a draw score and definitely crazy to do so on a losing score. We can't be sure that Melbourne or Adelaide will be easy on us in the other two matches, but we know that they have been the better of us this season by a long shot.

Sydney at least we know they have been beat well by us and so it is easier to push for a win than the other two teams.

I think both Adelaide and Melbourne will go hard till the finish

Bragging rights plus the nix can still finish top from our current position someone was saying. Nothing is assured for them being 1 and 2.

Adelaide will be very tired with the amount of games they have to play and only have 8 points away from home.

Top 2 gives the major semi-final advantage.

But 4th will do just fine

Well, if it turn out good for us to win over the tired Adelaide team, thats OK by me. Maybe we will settle for a draw against Melbourne if all the scores are looking good by that stage with both teams happy to just conserve their energy for the next match. It has happen before.

Minor season premiers qualify for the AFC right? In which case a very strong incentive for them to push hard until the final round.

Good point. Champions and Minor Premiers qualify can't remember what happens if they are they same team I think its 2nd on the table not the runners up in the GF.

Must be the league runners up because Adelaide were ACL this year by virtue of finishing 2nd in season 2. The year of that crazy final with all those Archie goals and Rossco lossing his rag.

Newcastle is there next year because they won season 3
