Get over it... We need to install a 'we only want to win' mentality into the players, leaving when they dont win is the best way to do this. It shows we are not happy with anything except a win. This is the mentality that causes Australia to be good at so many things IMO

That's just  blx. We're not the Prawn Sandwich Premier Brigade who will only support a winning team. Honestly, I can't believe what you just wrote - more like the words of someone looking for a bandwagon to jump on than a real fan.

I must admit I didn't stay behind long on Wednesday night - I didn't want to watch Melbourne be presented with the PSC. I should have been there to applaud the Nix off though.

I was at every game last year and watched nearly every game on TV... you may remember we lost a hell of a lot of these... Call that jumping on the bandwagon if you want

Sorry I didnt realise I had blamed 9000 people for stealing the flag, I thought I had blamed about a dozen my mistake.

Support the team - win, draw or loss - and I won't have to

Did anyone think that Moss looked terribly uncomposed during the penalty shootout, as if he had something else on his mind? Watching the highlights today he just didn't seem comfortable in the situation.

Was good game, very impressed with our defence, looking extremely solid. Muscat looking like a more than capable replacement.
Thought smeltz was extremely average. Daniel should have started. Gao did good but lacked discipline.
Bertos as mentioned trying to beat too many players. But still love him and reckon he'll do mean.
Ferrante held the middle well. Maybe not in the game much, but didnt see him do any mistakes.
Johnstone had a good game.

Was good turnout, thoroughly enjoyed being in the fever section. Hopefully i'll get down for more games. Was a shame so many people left, and didnt stay to clap em off. But thought most of the players bar ferrante and daniel walked straight into the tunnel tho :/

now that Eddie B has arrived it seems that the team are taking their time with a proper warm down after the match, I empathise for people who would have stayed to clap the boys off but didn't want to wait for 15 minutes watching melbourne lift the trophy while the nix jogged up and down the goalbox
You know we belong together...

It's no joke Man_utd_fan, but a very serious matter.  No club apart from the Phoenix is going into the season with only one out-and-out striker who can play 90 minutes (Shane Smeltz).  We're very exposed in this department.  We've now got an excellent defensive and midfield base but no one to regularly put the ball in the back of the net.  The two home games so far have shown, in my view, that we are going to struggle in the front third and certainly not do well enough to challenge the top four clubs in this department.  In my view, Smeltzy alone hasn't got the 'magic' needed to make things happen for us on the goal scoring front.  The crazy thing is that the Phoenix recognised this weakness as evidenced by their huge effort to sign Joel Porter as a high calibre striker.  Then when that opportunity fell through we just gave up.  I just don't believe that some where out there in the big, wide football world there isn't one or more strikers we could pick up who would do the job for us in the A-League.

To make matters worse as we walked along the concourse afterwards we saw an absolute Buffhead steal one of the flags from the side of the concourse surrounded by about a dozen or so very immature P---ks,this was watched by a female security guard(and I use the term "security guard" lightly)who never made any attempt to intervene or get help to stop this. Do these idiots not realize that they are stealing from their club.
And before anyone jumps in and asks why we did nothing to stop it I was not prepared to put myself or my wife at risk.

The guys stealing flags are obviously just mugs I agree with you there

Brilliantly observed ,so the Aussies win everything because their supporters don't stay behind and clap and they nick flags?
I wish we had worked that one out earlier!
I think what really happened was  a mid-week football game that dragged on into a tedious penalty shoot out and  a lot of us had  to get to work early the next day or had kids with them or had  various other reasons for getting away sharp
Also  a few pissed  daft wee  laddies nicked a flag after the game ,hardly the complete breakdown of law and order as we know it ffs!

I said same thing to my kids yesterday when we watched it......hope it wasn't the "who are ya" that put him off...it was certainly one of the loudest support I think I've heard and I only missed the last 2 games last year!

I agree with kiwi jambo, but I also stayed behind to see the players off the pitch (not all that fussed about the melbourne players, especially vargas who mimiced the fever last year, wa*ker). Thought we had a good showing and even tho we lost on penalties wasn't as if we missed the all of the first five, we got as far down the line up as Dodd!! Shame we couldn't get the job finished in 90mins though! As for people leaving before that it does send a signal to the players but i think the will read it as the pre season cup meaning little to the fans, they all know the season is far more important!!!! would av been nice to win some silverware tho!
As for the flags, who cares, maybe they would have all been taken and waved down the concourse if we had won and rightly so?????

Seems like alot of you are making excuses for your lack of sportsmanship and overall responsability didnt see too many kids in the fever zone and the Thistle was pretty full when we got back there,so there goes your theory of everone rushing home because they had work next day.

Why is this a big deal to you? i'm more dispointed in not winning than I am about how many people stayed behind to applaud the players off the pitch!!

It also sound like a few of the people in this discussion did stay behind anyway and I know I saw a few of the regular YF people leaving at the same time as me (after the players had left the pitch). I am also quite sure the rest had left to try and get some of that free tab Matt had put behind the bar at the 4 kings to drown their sorrows!

I think I must have stayed behind to clap them off after every game - though probably cos I was too inebriated to move.
Was a stuggle on Wed though with the warm-down/presentation/me crying like a baby - but stuck around to give Doddy a Who Are Ya (gags)

Personally, I've never hung around to watch an opposition team be presented with a trophy. The Nix decided to do their warm down whilst the stage was being set up, instead of going back in to the applause of their fans at the end of the game.

Anyway, I had to make sure I was back in time to the FK's for BigDUnc putting the tab on the bar.

When Hibs, went up, to win the Scottish Cup - I wisnae there - furfuxake!

i can't say i agree with this statement to be honest, i get worried when we still get doom and gloom with all the good thats happened in the off-seasnon, and yes i do acknowledge we are lacking a nother player like smeltxz, but my philosophy is why exactly are u so damn worried? even if smeltz is injured (please no). i didnt get to see the final, but it sounds like we were better playing 4-2-3-1, so y the heck would we want to change, i like the way our squad is currently shaped.

we have possibly the most flexible and unpredictable attack in the league, no other team has 3 midfielders who have no constraights on where they are and what they can do, therefore the defence cannot predict, and once we settle into the season the goals will come, don't worry about that, the main thing currently is we arnt leaking, and i predict we'll see another striker sometime this season as well. gao and bertos are gonna cause some havoc this season
