If there wasn't a game in Auckland a week later you'd expect more of an Auckland crowd to come down. No advertising, bad press for a week, and two games within an hours drive of each other in a week all added up.

Still a piss poor effort from the Tron.

We've been so dissapointing I don't think the crowd in Wellington would have been any bigger.  So I find it hard to feel that was a poor effort from the 'Tron.  We've been shark.  You get shark crowds when you are shark.  Hopefully we've turned a corner.

Parkhouse impressive on Saturday night. Contained Ferreria who has on occasion torn us a new one. He seems to be improving week by week as a Left back. Will Doyle struggle to regain his spot?

Nope. CCM are horrid. Parkhouse has been found out on several occassions against better sides - would slot Doyle in immediately.

Umm, I don't live in Hamilton....... just sayin'.

You live in Pukekohe, right? Virtually the same thing. ;)

I always think a one off game should get more people to the ground though. So I think it was poor.

What numbers did we get to the 'Tron for that pre-season game way back when, the one where D-Mac scored?

Think Doyle won't be far away from walking straight in but Parkhouse has improved markedly imo

Football, bottom of the table, rain and very little promotion and you guys are disappointed with 5k? Could have easily been 3k, we need to be realistic here.

On a positive note, the pitch in the Tron looked an absolute Picture!

I think that works when we have some recent form.  But less so/not so when we've managed to dig ourselves a hole and become the side the average punter doesn't want to be seen dead watching. Just my thoughts on it, no real evidence for that, but that seems what I'd expect from human psycholgy.

Watch Parkhouse closely and he is all over the place defensively, he gets caught turning the wrong way all the time.  I think he will be straight out of the team as soon as Doyle is fit, and he should be a good bench option coming on for say the last 20

yeah definitely has deficiencies but usually his pace usually gets him out of trouble. A long way from the finished article (like Doyle) but I am impressed with how far he has come in a short period in an unfamiliar role.

Jeff, having been the first time in the ground there, I was thinking, "Damn, I wish we had this stadium (Or Forsyth Stadium come to it) in Wellington". There was proper terracing at one end that looked perfect for the Zone! Just the right sized stadium for us.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

I don't have a car and couldn't get a lift and there weren't buses going back the same night, you rude git.

In what way am I being rude to you?

You explained why YOU couldn't go, it's only your paranoia that thinks I'm talking about you!

Are you the mouthpiece for ALL Auckland football supporters?, or are you just seething that my "pre-fact" opinion turned out to be correct. You will have to look a little closer to home to find the one whose prejudices can't be shifted, I'm afraid.

Good luck with getting a big crowd on Saturday, I hope that there is, but I wouldn't be surprised if there are plenty of reasons why the hordes of passionate Auckland  based Phoenix supporters are unable to attend on Saturday!

Crowd was poor, but expected given recent results and lack of advertising... plus a lot of people were focused on the Parker fight... which he lost!

45 minutes after Noah's Ark had gone by- would love to see a screen shot from the Wee-Nix game! Everyone was under cover for that.

Felt fairly spartan at that point. Actually had a bit of a chat to James McGarry's aunt. That was neat.

The 5,000 got a real treat, was a good crowd to be part of, and I wish I'd been brave enough to say no to Waikato Draught and only have drunk the Hapi-Daze....

great stadium for football- been to both games there and you're right close to the action.

Amount of advertising was poor.

But where is the massive amount of grass between the pitch and the stands?  Where do the ball kids run after the balls?

Told you you'd like it.  Best football/rugby ground in NZ.  End of.

So how are those metrics looking?

Traveling circus with very little local promotion.

Being held on the same day as the Waikato Cup Race meeting.

A pathetic turnout of 5300

Yeah. You're right. Waste of time even trying. Should just stay in Wellington and play in front of 5 or 6K there when we aren't winning and the weather's crap.

I think it would have been a loss in Wellington.  Good for the team to get away from where they have been average at best this season.  The team generally does well on the road in NZ or odd places like Canberra in Aus.

I agree, that stadium down there should be celebrated not berated. Dunedin should be greatful Fran Wilde didn't live down there.
