Sydney are pants. Looks like they're deliberately trying to lose, that's how bad they look.

Pretty stupid comment.

Why? They look so bad.

Deliberately trying to lose? Have another pint.

I'm saying that's what it looked like as they were playing so badly - which part of that are you failing to understand?

Wow, three points. How good does that feel?  No more than we deserve, we were clearly the better team on the night, (as we have been been in so many other matches that we didn't manage to win). So it may be a fugly win, but a win nonetheless.  I do however remain deeply unconvinced by Brockie, and to a lesser extent by Waffles.  The Belgium at least tries hard, the other one just, just, well, the best way I can describe it is that he lurks.

But let me put my negativity aside and say, whoooohoooo, whoooohoooooo.!

Hey you bastards I'm still here.

Sydney were rubbish but that was to be expected.

Thought Stein looked sharp, anyone else think he seems quicker this year? Hard to be too happy though after the Iffil injury...

This probably seems like a random comment but good on Brockie for looking genuinely happy and not sulking like so many players do when they get benched. He seemed happier than anyone when we scored.

Well done guys!

we played very well but that finishing is still a major concern. should've pumped them by three...

Congrats, we're officially more rubbish than you.

Though to be fair, you were consistently WAY more crap than them ....

Reira is a messy player with his messy passing and clumsy tackling but he is doing a good job breaking up play in the midfield and I thought his work rate was good. Thought Lia was good as well.

Post of the week. Let's wait and see if this comes true.

No, I don't COMPLETELY agree with that, not consistently at least. You guys have been consistently unlucky is true.

Surely we'll have to go to the import market now with ifill presumably out for sometime....

Very sad to see Ifill  getting carried off. Really believe we have to get another striker now as I very much doubt he will ever get back on the park for us.Brockie is just not good enough.

Do we know what he did. Couldn't tell at the game

Stuff says 'appears to be serious Achilles injury'

Permalink Permalink

Yeah thought it must have been that or ACL the way he went down.

Permalink Permalink

When he was put down in the tunnel he appeared to be holding his left side ribs... Was most confused.

Great to finally get a win but definitely feel a bit sad to see Ifill stretchered off like that. Easily my favourite player to wear a Phoenix shirt thus far. Hope he sticks around the club in some capacity.

great win although once we had the lead we stuggled to add more - if sydney had been mroe deadly in front of goal we could have been chasing two at half time. Gutted to see Ifill go down, hope it's not too serious and he is back soon -having him start seemed to do the trick as far a livening things up a bit.

Queenslander 3x a year.

The way he went down----- it was not his ribs.

One thing that bothered me today was the number of times Stein was offside. He is a striker(be it central or wide) and a player of his experience should have done a lot better. Had it been Brockie I would not have been surprised.

Cunningham was immense in marking and stealing the ball, huge work.

Botafogo - Rio de Janeiro and Wellington Phoenix, my two teams til death do us part.

Fox Football tweeted that he has ruptured his achilles. I would say that's his career over tbh. I really hope he tries to come back but with his age....

I really feel for the guy. Bloody good guy and quality footballer.

I would guess Achilles. Happened in front of the end we were at. I hope it is not but have a horrible feeling that is the last time we will see ifill in a nix strip

A win...PRAISE THE LORD!!

I thought we were pretty decent, but some of the chances missed yet again had me almost pulling my hair out...Stein right at the end being possibly the worst of the lot! BUT, we took one of the chances, and it was a nice finish.  3 points at last, but still got to work on that finishing!

Huysegems was probably best for me, despite some of those misses.  Riera was good, Cunningham put a lot in.

Ifill's injury looks bad, could be the end for him if it's the achilles.  We really MUST sign an injury replacement if he is done though.

Great atmosphere too tonight, not heard a roar (for the goal, and full time) like that at the stadium for a long time.

Yeah they have confirmed it. That's him really until about August. He is naturalised next year (?) so could still be signed.... As an import, his chances may be very thin especially off an injury like that, his age, his love of fitness training....

It's taken a lot of gloss off a deserved win for me.

This is where our season starts.

The Blessed Ernie has worked wonders in terms of our playing style. We are going to win, and win well. Stein and Brockie will both score and this will open the floodgates for the Nix for the rest of the season....confidence (well deserved on recent performances) will be restored, and we won't look back.

It's only farkin' Sydney, for farks sake....and their Minor God isn't playing, probably frightened of us....

We are the Mighty Phoenix. We can beat ANYBODY!!

I am not ashamed of this Prediction

Wooooooooooooooooo!!!

The best Christmas present you could ask for. You could see the players were elated. I'm so happy for them because they have been really putting in an effort and up to tonight had nothing to show. Steins goal was well taken and i loved his run to the bench and the way everyone mobbed him. So pleased for Ernie as well. Great crowd, great win great night.

Devastated that Iff's has done his achilles. He will be 35 next year. His legs have really taken a pounding over the years....its really hard to see him making a comeback after sucha serious injury. Why Why...our best player  FFS

Feeling not as euphoric as I could.

Ifill being out is a real kick in the guts. Without him on the pitch we are rather aimless.

Crowd atmosphere was great, but numbers (6.8 k) still pants.

3 points is good, but really, really down about Ifill.

And a clean sheet. Loved the players reaction to the goal and the end of the game. Longest 4 mins of extra time.
