On a side note it is refreshing to see the FFA act so swiftly in dealing with the growing issue of the WSW fans and their well documented hooligan element...

They might have numbers but the old NSL attitude is still there.
The Ruf, The Ruf, The Ruf is on Fire!!
Long live the attitude when the crowd atmosphere and support is there too
Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet
not when it was a major factor in the NSL collapsing...although we did get the A League as a result.
The Ruf, The Ruf, The Ruf is on Fire!!
Hernandez in doubt by the sounds of it.Getting xrays on a wrist.
"He must have fallen awkwardly at some point, I don't know if it was in the game [on Friday against Melbourne Heart] or in a training session, he didn't say much," Merrick said yesterday.
Was in the game Ernie pretty clear when he did it.Surprised coaching staff missed it.
Scan results through and Hernandez is out for ~6 weeks

it's a broken wrist, how does that affect his feet??? surely he can play once the surgery is done and he's got it in a cast?
Queenslander 3x a year.
yeah, I'd expect hicks to start in the #10 role with Brockie and Stein up front......

I would bring Hicks into the starting XI, pushing Kenny up front and Waffles dropping into Carlos' spot.

Who's next? Our next best player is....

Shiiit. No carlos. No ifill. I hope ernie has a gun signing to make or our grim season might take a turn for the worst.
Oh! for f**ks sake!!!!
The football gods really hate the Nix. What have we done to deserve this shit? Carlos out until mid Feb.....
First Ifill and now Carlos...our two best attackers. I would be tempted to move Stein to the playmaking role and promote Boyd. Boyd looked OK as a sub and hopefully he can up his game for the whole 90. Hicks looks like he is struggling with the physicality of the A-league at the moment....I certainly don't think he could boss the game as a playmaker.
Surely Killen is a must now as an injury replacement....is he match fit? We basically have no depth left. Next thing will be Rufer on the bench and he hasn't played for months.
I would bring Hicks into the starting XI, pushing Kenny up front and Waffles dropping into Carlos' spot.

What about rufer and/or rindinton or however is spelt.
Isn't rufer supposed to be the future of something?
"Yellow Fever are fantastic – I have to say that"

Kenny as a striker ? ok......... We are sure to win 5-0 now lol
Kenny may not be a striker but he has experience and pace. He's not been a stunning success on the flank, maybe a move could help.

I think you'll see Bertos and Boxall on the bench with Leo to benefit with increased minutes cause he can play everywhere. Boyd would be another and I guess Ridenton with Italiano.

Who have you got playing right back?

Fenton has not been ruled out yet? Or have I missed something...

My biggest concern is that Boyd has not scored when he has had plenty of chances, mostly sharp admittedly, but some easy that should have gone in - that a good striker would have converted. I reckon when he breaks his duck he will be good, but still better as an impact player for now.
I would have Hicks in the Carlos role for a start with Stein up front, and then drop Stein back later to feed the fresh legs
Good luck Ernie

Like Stein playing in midfield with Cunningham up front as suggested here, but looks like its Hicks with Ridenton on the bench. Though Ernie's statement this morning 'that he may go with one of the up and coming young players" I guess doesn't rule out Ridenton starting. Lot of high opinion in football around him, and interesting he's making matchday squads ahead of Rufer at this stage.
I think it's cause Rufer has only comeback into it because of school and exams. Ridenton has been in the mix a couple months longer

My suggestion would be to leave Brockie and Stein up front and replace Carlos with Hicks. WSW are a bloody well structured team and if you think having pace in our strikers is the way to beat them you are delusional. We need to keep possession, be patient, play the ball on the ground and take our chances. Brockie has to come right soon. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he scored tonight.

The only problem with Hicks that I have is that at local level, his distribution is good but has been found to be inconsistent at HAL. With him there, there is a danger of two strikers getting no ball. That's why Stein seems to be the popular choice to fill that role because previously, he has shown to be adept at it.
