BYO Flares

Great idea - it's a pity their fans would never get it.

Wouldn't be visible to anyone unless the FZ did an inverted Poznan.

I think drums would be ok to be honest.

If you can drum up enough support I can't see it being a bad thing.
It's the kind of thing that can really get under your skin though, but if they stick with it I don't think they can be beat...
All a bit of a beat up really and probably cymbalises what is wrong with organised spontaneity these days.
Still, it might help snare a few more casual punters.
show them it's better at the park than staying at home and putting the kettle on, it'd show them that we were mostly 'armless
it'll all help our march into the finals
I had a cool $25 on NIXs to win... Best money I had spent all year

Thanks Everton. I was just getting to that...
The part I find funny is the 'well its not my job to do the search' and 'oh usually they get let off then flopped under my seat. I have no idea who lets them off'. I mean piss in my pocket and tell me its raining but they know exactly whats going on. Any decent human would be saying this shit is not on.

A surreal element is introduced by the fact that the FFA own Western Sydney Wanderers.
As one Western Sydney supporter points out:
"I think it should be a fine but as the FFA owns us they can't fine themselves and want to put out an strong message."
Big Pete 65, Christchurch
It'd be a great gag for the feverzone to wear them when WSW next come to town.
I love this idea so much. Please do it.
Only if they're yellow flares.
Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days
1] The Fun Police would never allow fans at Westpac to actually enjoy themselves. Any instrument etc would always be banned. 'm surprised we're even allowed small flags in. I had my old wooden rattle taken off me last year and it didn't even get a twirl out of it. Wankers!
2] The day the Nix have to have a fan stand on some pedastool with a bull horn to get the crowd going is the day I lose all faith in the YF faithful. I think it's friggen stupid and embarrassing. Surely there are enough loudmouthed Australians to get a crowd going?? Do they not think it looks tacky? I've not seen it done in the UK or Europe or anywhere else at a football game.
3] All we want is to have fun and have new people come along and have some fun too. The team are now doing ok, so really, the Wellington public need to come along and make a positive difference. I'm sure the players would love a big crowd there on the 12th.
The Ruf, The Ruf, The Ruf is on Fire!!
I would pefer the fans to be punished rather than the players through point deduction, like in italy (even though it hasnt really worked there) where they ban the fan sections for the next game etc. could you imagine how pissed the RBB would be if only the nix away supporters were allowed in the stadium lol

NFL like cheerleaders are pure eye candy as are the ones we get here for super rugby but at college and highschool football especially they lead the crowd with chanting etc and throw in the ocassional routine/dance to punctuate it all. So we need the likes of hard news, boxey, dale and smithy dressed in little skirts and waving pom poms at the front of the fever zone. Just so he doesnt feel left out, lonegunman can do the same down the other end of the pitch.
You trying to create chunder bowl.

Playing devils advocate. Why do we assume in YF that everyone attending wants to to standup and make a lot of noise.I would suggest that many attending have no interest in the antics of the called active supporters.Lets not kid ourselves it dosnt really matter what we do to support the team, the BIGGEST influence on attendances will be results. This is where the clubs marketing needs to be stepping up big time after our recent results.
As an aside i got told yesterday that train services wont be back in action till the 13th,if thats the case it could have a big affect on the crowd.

About the trains Patrick i heard they hadnt been able to finish all the work so its going to be a week later.( i could well be wrong but thats what i got told.)
What i was also getting at was there are also supporters who attend our games who dont want to take part in chanting etc and we shouldnt assume everyone does.

if you want orchestrated crap in the stands then watch CCM now. One man on a loudspeaker and full brass band. They have even copied RBBs song.

Could you look at with seating for games YF active and non active bays these could be side by side. Active bays would be fans who want to stand up all game singing and chanting for 90min. And either side have the fans who would be less active wants to be seated for parts of the game. With this you would be able to have more lead and response chants getting more people involved though out the game. I'm not saying we do the same but WSW 'who do we sing for' chant gets the whole stadium getting involved. If we were able to get the fans who are not sitting in the active area of the stadium involved wouldn't this create a better atmosphere though out the game and getting more people excited to come to games regardless of the results on the field as they are having a good day out.

Well there's the 'all the Phoenix stand up' but only about half the people stand, nobody joins in with the chanting. We just have a shit stadium, everyone's too far away from each other and it's awkward getting involved sometimes, especially with only 5000 people. I think we just need to start winning games. Problem solved.

Typical of the train service.
As for crowds. People whom don't wish to stand or join in the fun can choose anywhere in the stadium to sit. Once you're through the gates you can pretty much sit where you like although if a person has purchased that particular seat then I have seen few cause a fuss and have moved on leaving the seat to the ticket holder. Everyone knows the YF area and what to expect. It's been running for 6 years. I have no problem with people whom wish to concentrate on the game. That they are there is important.
You are quite correct with the fun Police behaving as if a crowd riot is about to kick off. Other than the semi naked female streaker at the Beckham game, can anyone remmber a fan actually trying to get onto the field? (Ignoring the All Whites game where one did get on the field and another broken an ankle trying to emulate him) I don't think anyone is interested to be honest. And I am also sure that visiting fans from the other A League sides will also tell you how happy they are and how friendly Welling fans have been towards them. I'd like to think we have a good reputation in that respect.
Marketing the game is very important and the 3 in a row angle should really have been exploited by now.
The Ruf, The Ruf, The Ruf is on Fire!!
it's a pity there doesn't appear to have been a lot of visible marketing about sunday's game - what is the club actually doing? I haven't seen a poster or anything anywhere. I'd have expected ZM to be out in force with Nixie roaming the streets or something!
