Did Brockie miss three chances?

Some of them seemed gettable from where we were sitting ...

I hope he has his confidence back since his goal against the Victory ...

im begging to think brockies form was more luck than class, because even when he was scoring goals the runs/touch etc were the exact same as current form brockie.

So his 16 goals in 24 appearances last season were luck?
He should have bought lotto with that kind of luck.

Correction: He should have bought ME lotto with that kind of luck.

At least one of his goals last season was the result of very good fortune.
But something that gets overlooked in this discussion is that Brockie took most of our penalties last season (and scored from all of them if I recall correctly). Take those away (or, conversely, if he'd been taking penalties this season with the same strike rate), and it's a bit of a different story.

but thats it innit, all he can do is score goals really. You look at his matches this year and he's been trying to just score crackers like last year, most of last seasons goals (to me) appeared to have a bit of luck to go with the technique i.e. the amazing volleys etc.

I have to agree (I don't really like dumping on the players).  For me the frustrating part is how he drifts in and out of the game (seemingly out for a lot of them).  There has been the odd game where he gets more involved, looking for the ball or helping out when we are under the pump - which makes up for lack of goals in the game.

But his job is to score or set them up so if he is not doing anything different from last year then either the opposition has got better or he has been riding the luck.

I will say however, over the last few games he's been working alot harder to get involved in the play. Something that i found most frustrating about his play before is his general laziness, maybe Ernie's had a word or he himself has looked into what could help improve form.

Brockie has played about 113 A league games for 35 goals.

In 42 games for the AW's he has not scored.

You can take whatever you like out of stats I guess but I believe he is a pretty striker.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

He only scored 2 penalties. Ifill took them at the start of the season.

he scored two pens. So...that just leaves 14 lucky goals...

Hmm, I thought it was around 4. Probably should've checked first.

Not played striker a lot for the AWs, wingback or midfield or winger.

Ernie will either get more out of him or he'll sit on the bench a lot more.

I'm sure there was one game, he had two goals and we won a penalty. Ifill stepped up and prevented him getting the first hatrick

3-0 over Newcastle. Benji's infamous miss which cost Brockie the first ever Nix hattrick too.

Well, that was the status quo for pretty much everyone at the beginning of the season.... some (Lia, Stein) obviously responded.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Yep, with confidence he starts trying to shoot from ridiculous positions.  Option taking was awful.

Stein is terrible at 1 on 1s but aside from that his all round game is so good.  He looks much better playing with Boyd whose movement is really good and drags players away from him giving him more space.  He is always quieter when Brockie is on the pitch.

Still don't get the love for Lia - to me he's the spare part in that midfield, he's not as good defensively as Riera but he has no attacking threat and his passing is just average.

Boxall looks fantastic - this time on the pitch should help him adjust to life at this level and he now looks like the natural replacement at CB.  His pace is a real asset.  I see him a bit like Carragher who spent time in midfield and fullback improving his touch and then was a much better central defender for it.

Genuine intensity in that first half an hour, played like a team going places!

Also, Brockie scored a lot of goals in losing games.  In the whole of last year he only scored 7 goals in games we earned points in.  He has a bad habit of missing big chances at 0-0 this year
