hope Taylor's miss isn't something we regret later. 1 point gained, hopefully we don't miss the 2 points though.

has to be said, but this pitch is absolutely terrible!!

bet it still finishes higher than Westpac does in the scores come end of the season......

I think this pitch was voted worst in the league last season?

The commentators last week said Westpac was voted best surface the last two seasons.

Mauk - what a dick - they came out to defend, didnt look like they wanted to win it - we only drew with you due to a very close miss!!!

What a dick!

Pretty happy with the point to be honest - We generally were untroubled defensively and held our shape pretty well. Despite a lack of ball at times we still had the best opportunities.

Doyle MOM in my opinion.

Doyle, Taylor, Durante and Kurto all incredibly solid at the back. Our defensive structures are looking good and Brisbane seemed to run out of ideas as the game went on.

Pity we couldn't put away one of our chances, but will definitely take the draw.

Singh had a poor game today, easily the worst I have seen from him between the Nix and the AWs.  Doyle and Cacace played well apart from what happened to Tom near the end there.

A bit harsh on both teams I feel, though lacking a bit of quality in the box the second half was good end to end stuff. Not bad for the second game of the season. Nix still need an out and out striker though.

I thought the ref was very good, one of the best reffed matches I've seen in A-League.

Doyle was brilliant, MOTM for me too. Rufer disappointing today compared to the Jets game, Williams and Fenton never really fired up either. But really good performances from everyone else, Cacace surprised me a lot.

Ref was shaky at the start but I thought he did very well to be honest

Burns looked short on ideas again too.  Seemed clueless when he had the ball, especially near the box.  Lack of form/match fitness or has he simply "lost" it.?

Not a suprising comment from you. But have you seriously watched any of the other games? None of the teams look like they will make the top four at this stage.

If nobody does get into the top four, does that mean if we get sixth we're in the final?

Who has looked top four material - the quality so far this year in front of goal has been poor by all teams.

CCM have two draws and looked pants in both, but are seemingly good enough to compete.

No saying we are top four, but I think we will certainly be competative.

Love the optimism round these parts lately but the party pooper realist in me thinks we are going to have a lot of trouble containing this Roar lineup and I wouldn't be surprised if we are beaten by a clear couple of goals. A point would be a great result imo.

Be interesting to see how our back four copes with their very mobile attack. Also we will get a better look at Kurto and see if those slightly disturbing signs of flappiness were just first game nerves or something else.

Kurto is a class keeper and he showed it again ths week. The back four was very good especially with Taylor organising them. Plenty of reasons to be an optimist

Agreed re striker

If we terminate Kopa's loan we need a defensive midfielder more than a striker. Mandi can't play 90 minutes every week and say what you will about the quality up front but we have Krishna, Burns and Williams.

6 draws in 9 games, no one outshining the rest (not including the Vic-Perth match on now).  We seem tight at the back.  Poor call Leggy, we'd be top now if Taylor didn't shank his tap-in.

Thought we could've made our subs 5 mins or so earlier, decent players coming on there and we did look dangerous right at the end.

Agreed. I would have also left Krishna on. Felt we were the more likely to nick a goal at the end there.

Quite an even game I thought, so an away point is OK. Really liked the spirit of this team.....in past years we would have folded and conceded a goal late in the game. But even though some of the players looked like their legs had gone they kept battling away.

Could be useful having Burns and Nichols coming off the bench but I thought Burgess has not adjusted to the speed of the A-League. His decision making two games in a row has been way too slow.

Really happy how the Rudan era is shaping up.......though to be honest that was not one of the great games of football to watch!

Having an Ozzie coaching the Nix has done wonders for our image across the ditch......the commentators were actually complementary for a change.

Would quite happily have Alex King ref more of our games if he keeps up that standard. Seemed to have a rapport with the players, made some sharp calls and punished cynical fouls with yellow cards.

What a dick!

The guy is an absolute cod, seemed to catch onto him after he fouled Cacace and then gave him a spray (even though it was a foul).

If he looks at the stats, we won more duels (ie we wanted it more), had more shots, more corners and, and crosses into the box were pretty even overall. Don't know how he comes to conclusion that he did.

He'd do well to remember that defending is also a large part of football, and although it's not always pretty, it's very pleasing to see we are structured and proving hard to break down. Good to see too that the Aussies are getting frustrated that they're not cracking us for an easy 2-3 goals a game this season (so far...)

First clean sheet since New Years Eve 2017, or 16 games, 17 if you include Bentleigh.

Disagree completely re: Burgess. He looked far sharper than Burns did when he came on, who did his usual try-to-dribble-then-get-tackled routine.

I think the main concern is the lack of mobility in CM, and the lack of interplay between our front 3. The rest; not bad - and defence looks very, very solid. Taylor is a man mountain at the back and Doyle was similar; Dura did well too.

Will take the point; could've won, but we could've easily lost last week so swings and roundabouts. The most pleasing thing for me, and a point of difference to past seasons, is that we did not wilt late in the game in the Brisbane heat. In fact, Brissy players were going down with cramp before us. It's a really good sign that we were still putting in a shift around the 85th min mark.

I think Mandi was a bit of a liability today, but it is forgiveable as he clearly is still recovering from injury. He struggled in Brisbane conditions more than others (or simply lacks fitness).  The fact that Rudan preferred to play him ahead of Kopa was quite telling.

Burgess will likely be a better player this year than Burns. I like Burnsie but part of that is the sentiment for his excellent season before he went off to Tokyo.  Also, I reckon  Rudan is probably doing a "Ridenton" on Burgess, like Ernie did by recruiting Ridenton after leaving Phoenix.  I think Rudan liked the potential of Burgess and decided to recruit him from the state league to Phoenix. While he has taken a bit of a punt on a promising player, he can also recruit him later to his next A-League club after Nix, assuming that Burgess progresses well at Wellington this and next year.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

The ref did the best job of playing advantage that I have seen. Clear in his decisions as well. We kept cool and running on a warm afternoon. Doyle played his best ever game, despite being done totally once. Taylor's miss, but didn't upset his game. Dura coasting out of defence, running around their midfielder. Roy getting every run in the second half blocked off by fouls from their defenders, picked up twice by the ref.
What was Rudan having a go at Ross Aloisi about after the game? Maybe the deliberate fouling on Roy.

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet
