Isn't this how Ricki picked the AW's in Honiara?

You mean Ryan picked...

Hard to beat Downey for that honour.

A few posters that have seen him have mentioned that Shermy looks quite good technically but not great defensively, so Ernie probably sees him as a work in progress. Judging from Ernie's pre-season subs, he is probably back up for Caira at this stage.

Pantelis was actually a fairly solid signing though prior to his injury. In the end I guess he was a pointless signing but before his injury I was pretty happy with him.
Toto is my #1

Totori. 2nd touch was into touch.... I suspect when my grandson is older, I'll be telling him there is hope in wanting to be a pro footballer if that guy made it.

Who was Walsh? What season was he in?

Gao was probably the worst just because he was a negative presence off the field.

I remember Toto did the same thing. Ran the ball out on his first gallop down the sideline.

Lindsay, Clarke.

Harsh for people to include Pantelis, reports were that he was looking fantastic before he did his knee.

Yeah, signing Lindsay for 3-4 years was a bit weird.

So yeah, Lindsey would be up there. Actually a good player, but totally pointless signing.

I'd go with this

                Moss

Adams - Boxall - Dura - Caira

              Riera - Manny

Ifill - Hernandez - Kenny C

          Waffles

Bench: Spoons, Siggy, Hicks, Brockie, Boyd

I know Adams wasn't great on Sunday but I'm struggling to think of anyone else I'd rather have there. Also I rate Boxall so I'd keep him in over Siggy. Riera looks a much better player than Vince so lets get him in the middle now!

This is more logical.

I can definitely see Boxall keeping his spot ahead of Sigs. I'd rather see Riera at right back and Vinnie stay in midfield (not perfect I know, but lesser of two weevils in my opinion). I reckon the attacking three will be exactly that, although if it was me I'd ditch Cunningham for Brockie asap.

Agree with that bench too.

Brockie starts, Iffy on the bench for mine. Brockie has to start.

Clarke wasn't entirely pointless I guess. 4 bench appearances, 2 wins, 2 draws. Got on the field for the last minute of both those wins. Subbing him on was like a victory cigar.

Brockie is playing in T&T today, so will spend the next 2-3 days getting home, then flying to Australia on Fri or Sat. I really doubt any of the AWs bodies will be up for playing much of a part on Sunday.

Dura will come in. Cunningham will start. Brockie bench. Lia and Muscat will start as per last sunday. Think only other change maybe right back.

if Ernie is going to stick with a 4-3-3 then you'd likely see Ifill starting up front instead of Riera in the mids.

I always find it weird when fans put up formation changes at this stage of the season. We've seen Ernie set out his entire preseason around a 4-2-3-1 shape. To think he's going to go all 1998 Alex Fergusson on it now is totally weird. Combine that with the fact that Riera is about as much of a winger as Boxall and I find that formation from SuperFrank totally bamboozling.

the couple of 30 yard passes to Henandez from Riera  was enough for me to see the worth in playing him in a wide role.[not fullback]....crossing is not our strong point ..and he looks more like midfield player who can score...plus the way Henandez played last week having 2 up front will give him more options ......BAMBOOZLING.....Ernie playing Lia is totally bamboozling to me...a player he dumped a few years ago... gives the ball away more than any other player week in and out, NEVER SHOOTS..NEVER SCORES but he still picks him.......New formation.....NOW...same players

I didn't see the full 90 on Sunday so didn't fully see us run out of puff, but that is an issue with a high pressing style.  I've got BT installed especially to see this one!

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

                    Moss

Boxall-Sigmund-Durante-Ciara

               Lia-Muscat

  Cunningham-Hernandez-Ifill

              Huysegems

Bench: Spoonley, Adams, Riera, Boyd, Brockie

Personally I'd prefer Riera in midfield but I think despite our whinging, Lia's game wasn't too bad on sunday and Merrick will keep faith, at least until Riera has had more time with the squad and more minutes off the bench.

Also would expect that the temporary signings will only be given time when needed, purely as injury back-up. Hence Hicks' exclusion and Spoons' benching. Of the AWs I feel that Moss and Dura will be the only ones equipped to start so soon after all that travel.

RB more of a lottery, boxall would be my preference right now with Dura coming back in, but who knows, could be Adams, Muscat or even Bertos I guess.

Anyone else notice - We're finally watching the football. For some reason today I'm in a great mood and so happy to be able to talk about our games and going to them.

Riera in the mid would be a gamble, he has had only 25mins(?) at this level, give him a chance to adapt with a few performances off the bench then bring him in. but if he was brought in, then surely lia has to drop out? not manny.

another than the "oh no" threat, I think this will be another game where they will attack/run at our wingbacks and try to draw our CB to cover them

I have an amazing ability to find my way out of mazes. I'm pathological.

I had to pinch myself last night because I'd forgotten there'll be another nix game this week!
All the "no wellington games for 4 months" talk made me forget that there's a sh*tload of nix games elsewhere during that time!

The ol' "Lob over the top of the back line" rather than a Gary Owen type punt though.

Funnily enough, there were several times during the game when I was yelling for us to hoof it, because that's the way I'm used to seeing us clear the ball.
