They certainly save the best officials for us.

Can't believe we came back to take the win, let alone embarrass them at home.

Here's a question what more gut wrenching, losing 5-0 at home or 4-1 after leading at half time?

LOL. Good but hardly world class.

Couple of things a team need to give them the edge: a bit of luck (the pass deflecting straight to the feet of KC in the first minute of the 2nd half, a shit penalty by Sterjovski) and an x-factor player like Hernandez that can bang in a screamer out of nothing.

Not for a moment suggesting we didn't play well in the 2nd half but this seemed to be a contest between two mentally fragile teams and once we got on top CCM folded badly.
it's not mentally fragile when you go down 1-0 after a 5-0 drubbing, and respond like that

Slept terribly last night but am not actually complaining! If that's how we are going to play for the rest of the season then I will happily become an insomniac!!!

Burn my house, steal my car, drink my liquor from the old fruit jar, do anything that you wanna do, cos the Nix smoked the defending champs away last night.
Yeh I know the last line doesn't rhyme or rhythm, but who cares.

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

This is why I loved Tonya's overreaction last week. It's the A-League - one week you get smashed, next week you might smash the other team. Didn't think we would win after the 1st half though - bit of a shock.

I like tautologies because I like them.

Anything can happen in the second half

This is my favourite post of the entire thread. Oh and the calls of "Where's Tonya"

Thanks Phoenix. Enjoyed this journey with so many memories. But I'm out of this, and sadly so are many. I have no interest in following a side that after 5 mins looked like they had a big night at Homegrown or wherever the hell they were in the leadup. Typical NZ thing. No guts on a day where things weren't right. But man, what a day for the Phoenix to explode. Great memories in the playoff year, but we have better things to do with our life. Have never missed a home game, but that's it !!

What a result! Incredible!

Love reading back through the posts,

1st half: We're doomed, noooo, crap, damn

2nd half: OMG, unbelievable, Yusssssss

Games like that is why I love being a Nix supporter.

Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.

I didn't see the Heart game because I was out of the country but how much worse was it than our first half last night? Because I thought we were pretty pants in that first 45, although not as bad as CCM were in the second

@paulm. The pod lads were going to do an alternative commentary for this game and post it online somewhere.

Moments like this I always think back to a quote from Private Frazier in Dad's Army. After roasting Mannering, usually behind his back, he'd come out  with "Never doubted you for a minute". When things turned out ok.

But we know whos been there during the good times and the tough ones. New fans are always welcome but I find it hard to accept glory hunters that show up only when we are doing well. Then they roast us when we are shit.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Think Heart were actually quite good. When we played them first they created a lot of chances that they missed horribly.

Team work

This shows how much they attacked us and how the mids failed to screen the defence and dominate, considering how active the defence was.

muscat, Lia, Cunningham all pretty big on that image....

from this it appeas as though they thought Boxall was the weak link in the defence - daft - even if the goal did come from his wing, it was more Lia's lazy tracking and siggy picking up bernie late that caused it.

I'll admit, I've never quite understood wtf that 'player influence' chart is supposed to illustrate.

My view (posted after the Heart game) was that Heart improved very promptly once John van't Schip returned to the club. We improved too of course under Ernie, but JvS knew the club well while Ernie had to take his time reconstructing the playing team at the Nix.
That is not all of course - we simply had a flat game and did not turn up; which can happen (but it shouldn't).

What i wonder (separate thread material) about is, how on earth can Johnny Aloisi get a gig elsewhere now? Feel sorry for him.

I'd say the player influence chart is used to show which players had the most influence on the game.

This is why I love watching football. One week you guys are flattened by some great Melbourne Heart finishing and then you bounce right back and put the A League champions to the sword. Even Brockie scored for Christ's sake! Now I understand why you're missing Reira's industry in midfield. I think ACFC is too. Still would like to see Krishna given more game time to show what he can do.

Anyway good for the Phoenix, that's the best answer you can give after being well beaten. I'm thoroughly enjoying watching you this season and I predict a top four A League finish. Anyone who isn't getting a kick out of this season is sadly boring and should spend their entire weekend mowing lawns.

Keep an eye out for the ASBP too, it is shaping up as a real cracker jack season.

Except Moss is tiny yet had a huge influence.

So it is rather inaccurate.

Three for me, and two for them.
