Sorry. I brought the flag back to the Belvue and left it there, just by the door.

Hmmm.

No problem with you Ross. All good.

But when we left there were no banners or flags at the door.

I just rung the Bellevue, none were left there after everyone left.

Looks like someone helped themself.

Disappointing. Dunno if I will bother making anymore.

Good disciplined performance.

What's all this? A post about the match itself.  Sharpen up!

ps, agree entirely.

So here's the thing - Yellow cards/Fouls Conceded:

Nix 0/13, Pissants 2/22 - WIN

Tards 2/13, Nix 2/20 - WIN

Nix 2/11, Jests 3/28 - DRAW

Nix 2/11, City 6/22 - DRAW

WSW 4/20, Nix 2/8 - LOSS

Our last two games have been against teams that want to play football.  The three games before that were against teams who were intent on stacking the penalty area and hacking down any attack that we made.

Maybe we should be looking forward to playing Perth and Roar (and Bling)?

On the plus side, back at the RoF you won't get some psycho pulled-pork sandwich purveyor trying to do GBH on you.

Depends.  Having been involved in a fair few violent incidents over the years due to work, a lot of people just freeze as their fight/flight response takes time to kick into gear.

From being pulled over and kicked may have only taken a couple of seconds and that's long enough for people to still be in the 'deer in the headlights" phase of an incident.

My final thoughts after the game:   How do we deal with teams below us on the table that park the bus? Short of scoring early (not what we normally do), thus preventing the bus-parking.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Back to the game, haven't seen the replay yet but what a great result.  Think the wind played a pretty major factor and it was obvious at the game that we were a bit shark playing with it in the first half.  Good subs by Ernie.

Re: the stadium - I actually prefer Westpac.  It's good being closer to the pitch at the Hutt, but having twice stood towards the back of the YF zone, I feel that the noise generated just slips away into oblivion. It might sound good on TV, but I thought it was quiet at the game.  Ideally I suppose we want a rectangle stadium with some kind of enclosure or roof to keep the noise in.  Would be awesome if all four stands were attached in some way - maybe having the corners rounded with seats.

When you have the numbers in front of you like this it just shows firstly, how disciplined we have been, and secondly how frequently fouled we are.

Last 5 games:

Nix - 8 yellows, 63 fouls

Opponents - 17 yellows, 95 fouls

Opponents with more than double the yellows and 50% more fouls.

We won't really have to worry about that much; only maybe against CCM - but they'll have nothing to lose when they play us likely.

Another musing from the past few games.

This game, the first half was very scrappy.  I thought at one stage if I was to be watching this on the interwebz instead of live I might be angsty about how we gave away the ball easily and let them get behind us on the sides.

However maybe because I was sitting into the full brunt of the wind and seeing that Adelaide were equally poor and turning over the ball I just thought this was a game between two sides that wanted/needed a win.

In previous games I might have thought that the game would slip away from us, we would concede one or two fortunate goals and then either fall apart or struggle to get back in.

This game I actually felt that it was anyone's game and that our second half fitness would kick in.  But I was really pleased with the subs:  They changed the shape of the team (esp Roly moving forward, but also Griffiths making good runs and passing nicely).  It does make a difference that we have people on the bench that can help break a deadlock or get us back into the games.

Last two games I think we have very much shown that the team has self-belief, talent/skill, and stamina.

Roll on Perth.

Nice one Ernie, Siggie - you are bloody amazing, Roly is the Ifill-in-waiting.

Red Badge insisted on pulling the people trying to get the rabid male away from you, rather than stopping him from hitting you. Hence why he was able to have a go at you for so long.

Damn, I thought Baxters were makers of cough medicine.

Edit: Ad the Bellevue is in the title of this thread and that we have had 3 visits there now, what do others think?

Me? I thought their food (Big Breakfast) was excellent, I thought their hospitality and people handling skills were excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed using their facitilies. I am glad we  went there and supported their fare on offer.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Do the Fever elders need to do a bit of restorative justice to sort out the good name of the fever and so the whole Hutt experience that seems to have been a damn good one isn't left with a sour taste?

It would be good for the Fever to front foot this. If in doubt ask what the Red and Black block would do and do the opposite I guess...

Not on the day.

I knew some of the people who were. Andy, (Lonegunmen) contacted the blanket displaying parties, I contacted the complaining parties, and between us we brokered them getting together to shake hands and apologise.

If that counts as "being involved" then yes, I was.

without wanting to go on about it:

One of the staff said "it could have landed in our deep fryer. We told red badge, they didn't do anything so we dealt with it ourselves"

Hardly a proportionate response, and I therefore have doubts about the fact that it did actually land in the fryer.

In other news, we were top of the league for a few hours and have a chance to go outright first place next week!
