and the loss was that BS game where we fought like demons and had some tough calls go against us. I was thinking (after I calmed down) and watched other games there too, how hard Hindmarsh is for everyone to go to, including the refs. And I think yesterday that the Hutt Rec was that difficult for Adelaide. Unfortunately, it can't have been much fun in the cold and rain for everyone else either! But it looked ok on tele...

I do enjoy the stadium when I've come down, it has a good atmosphere and is comfortable, but if it means the club makes some money...

We play every team three times in the regular season yeah? So we've got the wood over Adelaide this season and in some real style too.

without wanting to go on about it:

One of the staff said "it could have landed in our deep fryer. We told red badge, they didn't do anything so we dealt with it ourselves"

Hardly a proportionate response, and I therefore have doubts about the fact that it did actually land in the fryer.

In other news, we were top of the league for a few hours and have a chance to go outright first place next week!

And it wasn't a "can of beer" it was an empty (or so close to it that it was immaterial) beer can" - I'd just taken the last swig from it - at most there was a fraction of a mouthful left in the bottom... that's why it floated in the wind.

I can understand why he was agitated. From his point of view he would have had no idea that it wasn't thrown intentionally. The first he knew a can came in through the hatch and he looked up and we were all reacting by laughing and saying "Holy shark, did you see that!? It went IN the caravan hatch!" ...like you would when a 1 in a million thing like that happened.

But to him it probably looked like we were celebrating and that we had therefore tried to lob a can in there.

Then later...

I admit I shouldn't have got fed up with the guy and thrown the second can towards him.

BUT he'd been standing on the grass between the caravan and the grandstand yelling homophobic abuse, and threatening that he and his mate was going to fudge me up at the end of the game, repeatedly saying "Come down here you pussy and I'll fudging smash you!" for over 5 minutes. He was just going on and on and on... it had got really tiresome, and I had had enough of his carrying on and I snapped.

Not my finest moment there. Luckily I am a useless shot from 12 metres, in the wind, and it missed him.

In match news.

I was impressed by how Boxall and in particular Fenton went.

I thought the back 4 were really good, and Riera in front of them was spectacular - especially in the first 25 minutes where he was a monster.

But I thout Louis Fenton deserves a big round of applause for his efforts at LB.

Had Adelaide scored in the first half (when they looked more threatening) it might have ended up like THAT game at Hindmarsh we lost in the dying seconds. My guess is that Ernie has worked the guys hard on endurance fitness. And possibly Adelaide guys were not used to the conditions, much like our February 3:2 loss in Brisbane in high humidity.

Sorry. I brought the flag back to the Belvue and left it there, just by the door.

Hmmm.

No problem with you Ross. All good.

But when we left there were no banners or flags at the door.

I just rung the Bellevue, none were left there after everyone left.

Looks like someone helped themself.

Disappointing. Dunno if I will bother making anymore.

Turns out all is well with the world. Cappy picked up the flags and banners near the front door and put them with the rest of the fever flags and banners by the kitchen. Yay. Thanks Cappy.

you should have taken responsibility to control him like I did with an overly enthusiastic first timer visiting from London. Cappy seems a bit sluggish to get his off too.

So JG was called offside here when he is off the pitch Hmm (scored off free kick anyway)

Edit: Nevermind, he resized it.

Yeah i noticed this too, but then it got me thinking on how well i know the offside rule. Do you even need to be on the pitch? Would be so easy to blatantly exploit. ie. hang well offside off the field and wait for someone to roll a ball through for you to intercept. 1v1's all day. Surely thats offside?

Likewise you could stand behind the goal line and try beat the keeper out to any ball that comes his way

Its as per normal offside rules once he gets involved then he is offside even coming in from off the field of play, interestingly A defender on goal line can not cross the goal line to force an attacker to be offside the player is still judged to be onside even with the defender "off" the field.

What Rori says is correct. Being off the pitch as an attacker or defender does not remove you from the offside equation.
