About 6000 tickets were already allocated for the game, but 90 per cent of ticket sales come from walkups, Phoenix general manager David Dome said.

Really....90% of what given we have 4000 season ticket holders?

Think that means excluding pass holders. So of those who buy indidicual tickets, 90% are at the gate.

ahha..

Sadly pax doesn't mean shark. Start getting excited when it cracks 13-14k

They should install a big ass movie quality screen on the field, dim the lights and people can watch the cricket final after the game. That would be a nice experience, maybe even I would possible stay for that. Probably to late to setup and do marketing.

Seriously, why does he keep saying this shark? Pretty hard to blame this on selective quoting.

Totally agree. It's just ridiculously counter-productive to be busting that out at this stage of the season and with the license extension going on. Much better to say "we want as many people as possible at our last games to drive the team to the title" or something similar and then push hard for extra season ticket sales etc for next season on the back of this season's successes.

The stupidest thing about bullying people to turn up is that the very people who you are trying to win over are the ones who obviously aren't that committed to keeping the club just for the club's sake, or else they'd be coming to games anyway! Threatening people who aren't turning up that there will be no games for them to turn up to if they don't turn up just doesn't make sense. Blackmail only works if the person you're blackmailing cares about what you're blackmailing them with.

I've kinda given up taking shots at Dome and some of the things he says in the media because its like shooting fish in a barrel. I am sure he has his strengths but this is not one. Its pretty obvious he is a complete fudgeing retard when it comes to winning friends and influencing people to come along to the games.

Someone should put exactly that to him in an interview, I can't fathom his reasoning behind this strategy at all. How many times have we heard it? and how often has it resulted in increased crouds above the usual flucuation scale?

He;s not acknowledging that the we have, percentage wise, a good croud. The faster he accepts that the current season 'of people on the ground' is his baseline the better his statemenst and mindset will get.

Well I am a cricket tragic and a Nix fan, so this is a toughy for me.

But we'll be at the game.  Not like all you out of town, big screen and tablet two timing semi-supporters ;)

Expecting 4-0 vs Sydney and dicking Aus by 95 runs in the CWC final.

Not like that's ever going to happen eh ....

Maybe don't have the game during a NZ v Australia WC final would be a good start, although I know that's not the Phoenixs decision.

But they surely could have seen it coming and contingency arrangements put in place. If the FFA and TV really wouldn't play ball , then they are muppets. I just don't get it, we only play 27 games a year it aint that hard to move games around, Premier League probably play double that if not more if you include cups

Well im not sure I need to tell you all there is a massive match on today. Valuable points up for grabs for the run in to the finals. Both sides have key players out due to other engagements.

Thats right, it's the Hawkes Bay Golf Association Championship 4 Pennants match between Hastings and Napier at Bridge Pa.

Napier GC = grrrr rivals grrrr

Would almost take a point right now. But given the overachievement already shown this season what is 1 more upset win?
