You are comparing an international from Costa Rica and one from Fiji. I don;t think there is any comparison.

What utter bullshark reasoning is this then? If we compared Gareth Bale from Wales and Fred from Brazil, you would say Bale is miles better than him. As if the country they originate from matters.

I will try and keep it simple/stupid.  Playing internationals for Fiji against Samoa, Tonga, Vanuatu etc is not the same as playing Panama, USA, Venezuela etc.

So Kenny is better than Wynton Rufer was?

Obviously not.  Wynton was training and playing at a much higher level.

So you're saying that the quality of the opponents your national team plays against isn't an indicator of how good you are as a player?

I am saying that if you are playing against poor sides week in and week out your standard is not really going to improve.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

But Roy isn't playing sides like Samoa, Tonga, Vanuatu etc week in week out, and Kenny isn't playing against sides like Panama, USA and Venezula week in week out.

Kenny is playing fudge all actually week in and week out. Great to see he can play when he is allowed to!

In a similar vein I would like to declare that as I have been coached by the manager of FC Barcelona, Juventus, PSV Eindhoven, Red Star Belgrade, Kuwait, Bahrain and NZ I must therefore know as much about all facets of footie as the rest of you lot put together, haha, so I don't welcome contradiction. LOL.

(Well, except for Leggy, as he is possibly the only other poster on this forum to have shared the same coach/manager).

But he was when he was 20 years old. How many international strikers score 14 goals in 22 games. Shows what the opposition was like. The fact is the standard of football in Fiji in not on the same page as Costa Rica. That was my original point.

That wasn't your point, your point was that Kenny is better than Roy because the standard of football in Fiji is not on the same page as Costa Rica. Which is just poor logical reasoning.

May not be able to make the game against Sydney on Sunday so hoping to fly up for the play offs - assuming the Phoenix play off at home in the weekend of 2nd and 3rd May - anyone help as to where the best place would be to get tickets?

Thanks.

Love it  nufc but the clowns have not worked it out that it was my opinion and not a fact. Probably English is not their first language. One professes to be very well educated but confuses it with being intelligent. The other probably still gets mixed up with cleats being studs.

Do you understand that it is "a MINIMUM of 4 minutes" and NOT "4 and only 4 minutes", don't you?

That's actually the rule.

What's the difference? If there are any stoppages or injuries or bookings in the "minimum of 4 minutes" added time period then further time is added on for those.

Okay I have watched this several times now. It makes me quite emotional to see that it means soooooo much to so many people.

How anyone could have chosen not to go... it beggars belief. I know people, FOOTBALL people, who opted to go to the Hurricanes instead of the Phoenix this week "Because the 'Canes are on a winning streak".

Well. Sucks to be you I say! Look at what you missed out on experiencing...

Play the ball, not the man Leggy. You still haven't explained how the national team a player plays for makes a difference to how good they are. Now you're just making personal attacks instead.

This morning on Radio Sport they had the commentary of Piney and Chotey calling the winning goal from last Friday

Piney was going nuts as Cunningham scored and Chotey comes out with "they say life is like a box of chocolates, well Cunningham has just come up with the after dinner mint"

Brilliant

I notice a pattern when the Nix and Canes playing at the stadium in the same weekend -  whoever plays first during the weekend wins and the other loses....

People miss games or can't go for all sorts of reasons, unless your LG and he's basically like the Yellow Fever version of Steve Austin and will always be at games - that's why he's LG.

The rest of us mortals have reasons for not attending matches, some are good and some are bad and some are pathetic but that's life. I'd rather someone miss a match to deal with something rather than attend and f*ck something up.

Easy to say that after he scores two goals; similar performance to Boyd in Adelaide.

Would be interesting to see if he's rewarded with a starting berth. Krishna has been struggling, but not sure if it's a good idea to drop him because he seems so reliant on confidence. Be good for him to get back into the swing of things before finals.

Cunningham has been great for so long though, unlike Boyd who is still at the start of his professional career. Other names that come to mind for being underrated at the Nix were Kosta and Rojas (for the start of his career anyway) - but again they were relative unknowns as far as professional football went. Cunningham has had some absolute magic moments during his time here, and Ive always been a big fan.

Yeah comming into this season I thought Kenny would be our top goal scorer. No idea why he didn't kick on this season, obvioulsy Eernie sees something that I don't.

Kenny was a bit unlucky in that he was forced to play out of his natural position for most of last season. All credit to him for getting on with it, working hard, and never giving up though. I think his energy and enthusiasm are a great asset coming off the bench, but I personally think he sometimes seems a little bit all over the show.

Kenny is no worse than some of the international strikers that have done the rounds in the a league. If he doesn't stay with us (likely) I can see him possibly being picked up by ccm or others on the cheap.

He's just recently updated his cover photo on facebook, after a long line of Phoenix/NZ related photos, to a stadium somewhere that I'm sure isn't in Australia. Could be a hint that he's on his way out of the league (speculation though of course..)

I heard it was because the goal had a crack in it. Don't know if that is bullshark though, but would make sense why they had to get spare out.

Although I didn't see it happen I've heard all about it since. Apparently the posts were new and had to be modified to fit the existing sockets, during warm ups some welds broke which caused the posts to move around quite a bit in the sockets and they had to change them in a bit of a hurry.

they did not end up warming up in the goal, they had the problem before the players came out onto the field. i watched them for about half an hour as they took the goal posts down about 4 or 5 times and drove off under the far end of the stand and came back with different sockets a couple of times. when the players came out to warm up moss and italiano had to put poles in the ground to the right hand side of the goal to make a goal line.
