We have to get control of the midfield and be very wary of their pace.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

LOL...you did say a while back that we might not win another game this season. So far its been 2 draws and a rodgering!!!!  It would be a real downer if we could'nt at least roll one of Adelaide or Sydney or Victory. Beating Sydney and ruining their playoff hopes would give us all a boost at least.

Took some visitors to Nix training today.....lovely day for it. They played a full opposed practice game. Everyone looked lively and really got stuck in. Only changes in the "A" team were Rufer in midfield and Brockie up front with Stein. Krishna and Boyd ran with the "B"'s. Wouldn't read too much into that though. Ernie spent quite a while one on one with Brockie prematch....lots of pointing and arm waving. Rufer got lots of tutouring by just about everyone throughout the match. He went OK but physically he looks like a schoolboy....not sure he would be up to the grind of A-League midfield yet. It was only a practice match but standouts were Boyd...who looked really good and Timmins is a class above most of the other defenders. The "B"'s had a young black kid playing LB....looked OK. Anyone know who he was?

Carlos trained by himself and didnt kick a ball. He was putting in an big effort running around the cones and doing laps....don't think we will see him this weekend unless he can do match training later this week. The edge of the field looked like a hospital ward....all the walking wounded. When you see them all together you realise how many injured we have.

Sky's ads still reckon the game is on at 5, so at least if we get hammered no one will be watching.

Oh, really, it's at 3 pm? I was foolishly believing the ads. Thanks for ballsing up my weekend plans, Sky. I've already arranged to bring takeaways to my parents' at 5 pm and watch the game. Parents very dedicated fans (only interested in Kiwi football, none of that EPL or Champions League nonsense). Family tradition of supporting your local club through thick and thin.
Was going to watch a recording of the Black Caps v.Netherlands T20 game on Sunday afternoon with the parents as an entree to the football (my dad is Dutch and will be amused to see his countrymen attempt to play cricket).
Good thing with MySky is we can record the Phoenix game and still watch it at 5 pm while having takeaways - and my parents won't know it's not live!

My parents have an Ethiopian carer in their rest home working part time while she does post-grad at Canterbury. She tells me her younger brother is trialing with the Phoenix. Spotted down here and invited to trial. Can't remember his name, although she told me.
Will ask her for more info on Sunday when I watch the Phoenix game with my parents as she works Sundays and likes to come to my parents' room to watch a bit of the game.

I see the club invite us to send a message for the big screen. My initial thought was "Turn the damn music down or off!" ;) however when I clicked on their link it just went to the Nix home page. For some reason my tablet cant shrink to fit the offical club and FFA sites. Only ones it doesnt do it to. Any others have that issue?

I got my email from the Wellington Phoenix today saying that they will not give me permission to bring over any Pull-over or Fence banners for Sun game .One reason given to me was that the morale was low at the club and they didnt want oppossition banners plastered all over.I rang the lady at the club to plead my case so im hoping for some good news.

Would it be self indulgent to send a message to myself on the big screen? Anonymously of course.

Also - when does the Adelaide team arrive and where are they staying? I have a gift to courier to Jeronimo

Its good to see that promoting good relationships with opposition fans is alive and well.

Next up, lets promote some  more interaction like we saw between the Victory and Western Sydney fans.

I have met a few fans from various clubs in Australia and always try and promote a positive friendly rivalry. I believe Wellington fans are well thought of in general in this respect. Let them have their banner FFS.

We only have ourselves to blame for a poor season except for a certain  referee and that was only in one game.

Thanks for making the trip over "Reds" fans. Welcome to New Zealand.

Email Smithy - we've had issues at the Stadium lately and the security at. The stadium refused to budge. Best to sort it out before the day to increase your chances of it actually being let through.

We call them the Fun Police. Anyone caught enjoying themselves is targeted. Patrick is correct, theyve been extra mean of late.

Discustard.

Maybe we should just forfeit the game...if a banner can lower morale that much imagine what another 5-0 loss would do!

We can't risk morale getting any lower.

No, the Ashley Young "Diving for Dummies" book. Apparently, the author draws on many years of experience. Foreword is written by Clint Hill of QPR, testifying on how Ashleys technique actually works. Arjen Robben was going to do it but the deal "fell" over.

who were you talking to via email/phone at the club? that is a poor excuse - morale is low for who, the owners, pretty sure the YF isn't near killing itself.

Can you not just get someone to remind you? If I need to remember something I ask the missus to remind me. Seems a bit of a waste flashing "Pick up some cat food on your way home" on the big screen.

So I've spoken to the club and apparently the only banner that's not allowed is the enormous one you guys laid out at Eden Park. Various reasons for that.

Regular banners allowed no problem.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.
